Splinter Cell: Essentials
Not a great game
If you like shooting and military opps kind of thing then this game may be for you. once you start the game i thought it was a waste of money. It was a win lose situation though. the graphics on this game are pretty good. If you look at the cover of the game box you think its sort of a free roam game and you get to shoot cars and all kinds of stuff. once you get to the third mission you'll realize that this game is more like socom or something. The story line was sort of basic: you're this guy name sam fisher who was accused of killing a man and you have a group of people who are trying to help you clear your name. One of those persons double crosses you to get himself out of the hole. then when you find out the game is over. It took me about 21/2 hrs. to complet the game and 2hrs. to complete the three bonus missions.by the way to unlock them just click bonus mission then hold down select and hit L,R,L,R,L,R until all 3 pop up.overall i wouldnt recommend this game.
The Game No one Likes
I just bought this game and found it to be suprisingly fun. I only say surprisingly because on every other website I went to I found medicore reviews. I am a big Tom Clancy fan especially when it comes to the Splinter Cell series and the Rainbow Six series. I find his games to be extremley challenging which I enjoy. Splinter Cell Essentials is another one of those games. The controls are really quite good, considering its on PSP, and allow for character movments that I have seen on some of the Xbox Splinter Cells. Once agian Ubisoft has produces a killer game invloving, in my opinon, one of the most exciting characters in videogames. Overall I love the game, it is an creative story that takes you all over the place with unique characters, graphics, and story twists, I strongly recommend this game for all typer of gamers.
Good for Splinter Cell fans
I love the Splinter Cell games and have two more for the PS2. This game is as good as Chaos Theory or Pandora Tomorrow. If you like stealth games than this is in my opinion is what a stealth game should be. Sam Fisher does a lot of sneaking around in the dark as a secret agent and that is what this game is all about. This game is not for someone who wants fast continuous action. This is a spy/stealth game where you go after terrorists. If you like this kind of stuff than Splinter Cell is for you and if you like the other Splinter Cells than you should like this one. I read a review where the writer complained that the game is so dark that you spend a lot of time using the night vision which turns the screen green - that is what night vision does and this is what a spy/stealth game is suppose to be! You're sneaking around and trying to kill terrorists. If you like that then this game will be fine for the PSP.
Definately worth playing
If you a fan of the Splinter Cell franchise then you will have no trouble liking this one for the psp. The controls are a little difficult since the camera can't be moved until you stop, and press the O button to move the camera, no big hassle though since your always stopping to check your surrounds anyway, just can't move it while your moving. It was great to be able to go back in time and play some of my favorite levels from all the past games. The graphics are fantastic although most of the levels are to dark to see them and you will find yourself using your night vision goggles a lot more then you should be, but it's no effort to turn the brightness up a bit, the game has a good length to it and sounds just like splinter cell, it's always a cool feeling when your hearing the theme songs to your favorite console games on your psp, overall the game is a good buy and for the cheap price it has now it is definitely worth having.
Good first person shooter with a story.
This is a good game for you if you like first person shooters. Its also a good game if you like a good story line. This game has a good storyline that won't leave you scratching your head. It is also a challenge at parts so you'll have fun playing it. Awesome Game!
Worst Tom Clancy?
Worst Tom Clancy? I do believe so. Tom Clancy's like a god making video-games. But this one is, well... um... well, terrible. Ghost Recon Advanced War fighter and it's sequel are awesome! So is Rainbow Six Vegas and the sequel too. Tom Clancy's the king of sequels. This is my first Tom Clancy portable, but it's terrible. The second level, that's on Columbia, it's the best. In the Yugoslavia level, that's where the game got ruined. But when I select that level, it freezes. I had made my two choices between S-O-C-O-M US Navy Seals Fire-Team Bravo 2 and Splinter Cell Essentials. I chose Splinter Cell. My worst mistake in my video-game choosing that I had ever made. There are only 2 guns, well one gun and a rifle with a scope. And a bunch of grenades. But the grenades are hard to choose. So, it's got a lot of flaws. So don't buy it. It gets old really fast. My rank: 4.75.
Give it a shot
I have mixed feelings about this game. It's nice to be able to play a mix of old and new Splinter Cell missions on a handheld device. The controls take a while to get used to because this was designed for the PSP which only has one analog stick and the sound quality and graphics are slightly below average. Overall though I'd say give this game a shot, especially if you're a Splinter Cell fan or just love stealth action games in general. This game is available for PSP and PS Vita.
