Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
This game seems as through it is going to rid the SIlent HIll universe of some of the main staples that made the series great. It is taking away the combat (which was irritating to some of the players, and for good reason, but nothing was more satisfying than the THUNK! when I wouldhit a gray child over the head with the pipe). It's taking away the disturbing "otherworld" and replacing it with a freezer. Foremost, the problem is that it is making Harry run from everything, and when one thinks about the psychological subterfuge this series has presented, it shows that Harry is not going to deal with his own psychological issues, because he is only running from all the monsters. That's just one of the issues I currently have insofar as what I've seen and read. So I am hoping that this game will not be as bad as I think it will be, but regardless, it will probably be much better than any Resident Evil or Alone In The Dark that has ever been.
It Blew Me Away
First off, this game is not even bad. No one should ever complain about this game. The game really makes itself work for the PSP. Sure Konami took out som of the features like moving your flashlight around freely, but the game is still phenomanal. The soundtrack did not let me down considering the fact that the music's been great in all Silent Hill games. The music really sets the mood for a depressing and dead town, but it also creates an intense mood when the Nightmare creatures are chasing after you. Those sequences with the nightmare creatures are a bit annoying at times, but can be really intense. I wouldn''t this game is really scary. It just seems like it wants to make you jump from time to time when some random echo shadow screams at you and runs away. The controls are really good for a PSP game. But, like I said before, there's no freely aiming your flashlight unless you zoom in. That's actually a good thing because on the Wii you have to keep your hand up constantly and sometimes you might not aim the flashlight at the right image or something like that. The sound was fair. All and all this is a great game for the PSP and I strongly reccomend it. The part that actually blew me away was the ending. I'm not going to say anything else other than it had an unforgettable twist.
At first I thought this game was going to be one of those scary games that don't really entertain, but this was a mix of I guess you could say mild scare, but great storyline. At first it is a little slow, but towards then end, things start to get real exciting. I recommend this game to people that are looking for a good storyline game, and also some adventure. Some things to know about this game before you buy it is; there are no guns in this game, so no killing anyone, and there are only one type of monsters that try to kill you, but they rarely appear. This allows the game to focus more on the story rather than the fighting. Awesome storyline, if you like mind bogglers, and this game is really good at keeping you questioned on what is happening next. I hope you buy this game and enjoy it.
A Reimagining of the Original
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, released earlier this year for the Wii, is a step in a new direction for the Silent Hill series. On the Wii, the game is a masterpiece, and I can only imagine the other versions will keep with the same standard. Because of the psych profiles, the game is never the same twice. The answers you give to the questions the game provides and the way you play the game all shifts how everything around you unfolds, what the monsters look like, and what ending you get. The inability to use weapons adds a new element of tension to the game, and despite the fact that it would seem boring to only run away from your enemies, the chase segments are some of the most engaging and hair-raising moments in the entire game. The puzzles are good, and the story is intriguing. The game itself is short, only around 6 hours at most your first time through, but the replayability is high, and the game throws enough at you to keep you coming back a few times over. Also, to make things clear, this game is not, in fact, a remake of the original Silent Hill. It is only a reimagining of it, using some of the same characters. Don't expect this story to tie in with Silent Hill 3, which was the direct sequel to the original. It only takes a similar situation and puts its own unique spin on it. Altogether, will most likely be a great addition to anybody's PSP collection, if the Wii version is any indication.
Sorry about the lack of reviews... To let everyone know that I am still doing reviews, I decided to review Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Just so everyone knows, I also write reviews on GameSpot as DarkReignn.I will write reviews exclusive to GameSpot. Anyway, lets get on with the review. Shattered Memories is an amazing game. I have never played any game like it and, dare I say it, is better than God Of War. Thats right. Shattered Memories has an excellent mix of mystery, action, and, to some people, terror. I did not find this game scary at all, but I know some people might. This is the best story I have ever experienced in a game. It is about a man named Harry Mason. He gets into a car crash, and when he wakes up, his daughter, Cheryl, is missing. So you go around the town of Silent Hill trying to find your daughter. There are a few really cool twists in the game, and the ending is phenomenal and you will always remember it. The graphics are really good for a PSP game. Everything looks like you imagine it would. Some people might complain that this game it too short, but in reality this game is perfectly paced and this game was long enough. There is no fighting in this game. None. And I loved that. You have to run from the monsters that attack you. And I found that more realistic. I mean if a monster with no eyes, mouth, ears, and a whole in its head came running after me I don't think I would stop and try to hit it with a pole. The first time you get attacked and have to run, its a thrill like no other. But after the first time, you want it to stop because exploring the eriee town of Silent Hill is way more fun. Shattered Memories is a game everyone and anyone should play. I mean everyone. 5 year olds, babies, grandma, everyone. Shattered Memories gets a perfect 10 out of 10. Pleast rate my review, check out my other reviews, and remember I am on GameSpot as DarkReignn. "This game plays you as much as you play it..."
Great Game, but sad!
I'd like to start off by saying this is a great game! just like the other silent hills, this has a great story line. The only down side is, you can't fight off the monsters... but still an over-all good game, very depressing ending. The game changes itself, depending on your personality, which was a great effect! I defidently recomend this to people who like survival horror games, and stragedy games!
I"ve never played a better game
First off, I would like to say i was a little nervous about buying this game at first, but when i saw the trailer, i knew i had to get it. It seemed like a type of game that would give you the freaks if it went to your head. It defidently had it's moments. The graphics weren't great for a psp, but better than any game i ever had. I thought that the story was excellent, a little boring at first, but the farther you got, the more interesting it became. The sound was great, especially the shrieks from the creatures during the nightmares. The only problem i had was the fact that the game was so quiet. The length was great, the first time i played it took almost two weeks for me to beat it. But when you would play the game again, depending on how long you played for, would depict the length of the game. I thought it had a partial challenge. I felt it was pretty much straight forward, until you got to the school, then it had a challenge. Then it evened out again. Some of the nightmares were pretty difficult, especially when it would seem you changed paths and ended up where you started, that became really frustrating. The controls were very simple, they are for all psp games. And last but not least the interface. I was suprised at how much interaction there was. I really enjoyed the fact that as you progressed the nightmare creatures got tougher. The best part was when you played again, some details got changed, i thought that was amazing. It seemed that nothing happened automatically. So if you want this game, It's worth spending however much money to buy it, trust me, you wont regret it.
Extremely Well Done For Playstation Portalbe
ive played this for the Wii and the port from motion to portable is a great job and the sound quality on cell phone calls is SO much better, it is slightly better than console versions and i totally reccomend this to anyone who loves Silent Hil or just wants a good scare its freaky, the entire world changes on how u awnser the questions in the game it has so many possibilities on how to play its great for portable i would reccomend headphones though and play it in the dark. the cell phone function is very cool and the map is different cuz u cant drawon it like the wii but at least the motion wont get messed up wen u get monsters off of you u just press a button wen i had to throw the remote while it does not always read and then kills you so i would say this is more of a portable than console
Worst Silent Hill
omg this was so not worth the money i should of just watch it on youtube, just to get the story. i mean silent hill origins was way better and 20 bucks cheaper on the playstation store. you don't even get to eliminate the monsters all you get to do is push them out of the way. simply just a disappointing game. dang game producers think just cause it has nice graphics it'll be a good game but not at all. just get origins if you really want to have fun. oh and also this game is very short.
This game will sent a chill down your back.but if you played it before.it ain't that scary.
