Worth playing
I was never really into the Prince of Persia games because I don't really like games with blood and gore. However, this game caught my interest because I saw that it was about time travel. As a huge fan of stories that involve travelling through time, I was immediately intrigued. As an added bonus, this game features much less violence than the original version, so I decided to try it. I have to say, this game cleans up nicely. No foul language, hardly any blood, and it's pretty fun to play. My main complaint is about the story, which seems thrown together randomly at times. While it is an interesting twist to play as the dark prince, his controls seem more stiff, and the plot seems forced at times. I recommend this to anyone who likes the concept of Prince of Persia, but don't want the violence.

Identity Crisis
Prince of Persia Rival Swords is in no way, a bad game. This game just seems to have some trouble finding out what kind of game it want to be. It seems like sometimes it tries to be a hack 'n slash game, while other times it attempts to be an adventure game, and then it tries to be a stealth action game. Sometimes, blending genres can really work, such as in Valkyria Chronicles 2, but that is not the case in Rival Swords. Not only is this lack of stability a problem, but the graphics, while not terrible, are not great. At times if the camera gets too close to the back of the Prince's head, you will see his eyes, OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. Also the enviroments dont have a great amount of detail which i do find a problem. A nice part about the graphics though, is how sometimes the camera will pan out and you will get a really good sense of openness and realism in whatever town or palace that you happen to be in. Another up about this game would be the swordplay, there are usually plenty of moves that you can pull off, also there are some cool looking stealth kills. Even though the sword play can be good, and has the potential to be great, there are a few tedios moments in the game where you just end up hacking your way through your enimies. This game made some mistakes with some graphical problem and also an identity crisis of sorts, yet there is some fun hidden beneah that tough outer shell of badness, all you have to do is stick with it and this game may be worth your money.

One of the greatest games of our time
Like my headline said one of the greatest games of our time(no pun intended). The rival swords is by far one of the best psp games I own.I thought the graphics werent going to be all that because it was a hand held game but when I started to play it i just couldnt stop. This game draws you in unlike some of the other prince of persia games, especially with the addition of the dark prince. The dark prince was a great idea for this game.He can do cool things with his chain like strangle and grapple things. The storyline is long and challenging. There were many times I thoughts the game would end and each time I was wrong.I like the fact that this game has many boss battles. When I first played Sands of Time I liked it but didnt think it was challenging enough. The addition of boss battles has definatley changed that. This is a game I HIGHLY reccomend to all gamers.

MY FAVORITE
this game is fun when i got it i expected it to be hard and sometimes boring. Well i was wrong this game is fun and not boring. They also put this cool thing in it were you race on chariot's and it is fun and sometimes it can get a little hard. The game can get hard and sometimes it can get easy to. The graphics are good they are just like the PS2 graphics. The game is pretty long so you wont get disappointed with the length. The story is good it wont have you bored at all. The controls are great if you played the past PS2 one's or have played the PS3 one you would think the controls are easy and this was my first time playing the PSP one i thought it looked impossible because you do this really cool thing were you run on walls to go places and it was super easy press X and go to wall and all the sudden your character is running on walls. The game is very fun and it is not a waist of time i recommend it is a must have PSP title

Good, But Too Short
I played the chariot races on included in this game before trying the campaign, and I have good things too say about those. The three different races all vary greatly, which makes it more fun to play each one. I loved it when I got to knife the guards that tried to kill me by jumping onto the chariot (while it was moving!). If I could rate just the chariot races separate from the game, I would give it a 9.25. Now to the campaign. If you like to play Assassin's Creed, then this is definitely the game for you. The game play is just like Assassin's Creed, with all the stealth kills and jumping across buildings around every corner. The storyline is good, with an outlaw prince running secretly through his war-ridden country to rescue his kidnapped princess. The only reason I would NOT buy this game is because of the length. There are two parts of the game: the first one as the prince and the second one as a sort-of monster with a long, swinging chain. The first part (the better part) took me just over an hour to complete! Then the fun Assassin's Creed-type style is sucked out and the game loses all its luster.

Great Game PSP Must
This game is great!!! Graphics are good for psp and the animation is great. Very challenging game requires a little mental thought. If you want a game to just beat on people don't get this. A great storyline with a purpose and interaction throughout the game. I have been playing for a while and still haven't beaten it. I love the controls two weapons at a time and many combinations to attack with. One all time weapon and another free weapon you pick up from the people you have killed. You are dark for a mild portion of the game and it gives a great weapon. It's a chain you swing and attack people with. Very affective. It has good sound. There are sound when you kill people. and there is music to set the mood. If you enjoy shooting games fighting games of adventure games this is the game for you. A PSP must!

This game is okay.
While the Prince of Persia series has gained great popularity, I think that this game is a weak link in the chain. First of all, the fighting style fits the profile of a classic hack-and-slash game. You simply keep hitting buttons until the other guy is dead. The "stealth kill" feature also takes away from the feel of the game. I think that a battle sequence is much more rewarding if you use unique combos. This game lacks the ability to do that. Battle sequences feel very scripted because of this. Also, much of the game requires perfect timing. The special moves that Prince does can only be performed in a strict window of opportunity. I spent an annoying amount of time undoing mistakes where I fell to my doom due to an error in time judgement. Luckily, Prince's time powers let me prevent a lot of game-overs. I beat this game without much effort, but I was not very impressed afterwards. It may be that loyal fans of the previous games feel differently. However, as an outsider, I give this game three out of five stars.
