Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner
it a cool game to play
its like monster rancher with a little bit of jade coccon. one of the best games i played on psp. good game but hard to find it
has monsters similar to the shin megami tensei series has a battle system like pokemon but so much better and less corny great story line amzing gameplay cant complain....cost 60-100 dollars online i got mine from gamestop for the cheap price but i would have paid 100 as a hardcore rpg collector (over 300 rpgs in my house)
Not just a glorified Pokemon game!
This game, although it's been constantly considered a Pokemon rip off, it's got an interesting battle play as well as wonderful graphics and amazing voice acting along with music. This game is a must have for the gamers that loved the Persona series and anything that Atlas made. Good luck saving the world from the Abominations!
A GOOD (THOUGH FAIRLY STANDARD) RPG
The minute I read that the creator of the Shin Megami Tensei series was handling Monster Kingdom, I already knew it was an instant purchase for me, and it was good to know that the psp was getting an RPG for a system that was pretty lacking in RPG's. While Monster Kingdom really does nothing new in terms of any and every RPG, what it does it does well. The more you fight the more you level up, you travel through all types of locations (snow lands, industrialized towns, green acre areas, etc), and talk with NPC's throughout the adventure. Like I said, pretty standard (albeit good) stuff. The story is simple, you want revenge on the mysterious man who killed your mother but of course along the way not everything is as it seems and you meet and team up with different characters each with their own reason why they join you. Also when you battle you fight with monsters that you have collected throughout the journey, a lot like S.M.T Nocturne and S.M.T. Devil Summoner. The graphics for Monster Kingdom are very nice and detailed, though a lot of the magic attacks have fairly simple effects, controls are is simple as can be and are very easy to learn, and the music/soundtrack is very well done. One thing I should point out is that Monster Kingdom has TONS of reading but at least its all V.O, (voice over). If you're looking for a fix of some RPG'ness on your psp then give Monster Kingdom a shot, though it may be pretty hard to find now (like most Atlus RPG's). Overall I came away satisfied with it. As I said before, it offers really nothing new, but what it does it does well.
