Rated 9 out of 10 by BTRooney Not the best but still a great game
The first thing that gets me mad is that it takes a while to load. In the PS2 and PS3 version it takes half as long than on the PSP. Besides that i really like the game. I am really into The Road to the Show. It is a lot harder than in the one in 07. And if you are not a starder it is tough to complete your goals. I also find that it is harder to pitch than in the PS2 or 3 versions. It is the meter which is kind of blury which throws me off. Some of the all-stars who became free agents in the winnter but joined a team are not yet on their team. Example is Manny R. is a free agent even though he signed a one year deal with the Dodgers. So what i like to do is make a roster than save it. Next put the players on the team they are on, after save it. Then when you go to play a game the players will be on their correct team. It is the best baseball game for the PSP so if you love baseball i think you should get this game

Mlb:09 the Show brings you the closest thing to real baseball out there... They fixed many errors from last year ( No more home runs that never touch the bat or catches that left us wondering, how'd they do that?) My favorite thing is Road to The Show 3.0 which is really challenging. The new Legend difficulty is extremely challenging and is only for the most experienced player. The graphics are probably the best of any handheld game ever made and the faces and bodies are way better of that of '07 and '08. As far as the controls go, the pitching meter takes a bit to get used to for the new MLB The Show gamer and the batting controls are crystal clear. They've added over a hundred new animations that are really cool and interesting. Player updates and team updates are really easy to preform and you basically only have to update one a week to get all the transactions from that week. Overall, this game is well worth the buy for the gamer needing baseball and portable gaming. so if you have the 40$ to spend, buy this game! It is well worth the buy.
Rated 7 out of 10 by iamsamish good, but boring after a while
this is a good game, it is fun when you get the hang of it, but the road to the show, well i'll start off with the good things, you get to play, and it is fun to play at first, but as it goes on it gets boring, your skill's start to decrease, butyou have to get your advancment goals done, or else the manager gets mad, and i have been in AAA for almost two seasons now, and 7 tims in a row completed all my advancment goals, but then i get 7 e-mails saying that you did good but were going to keep you in AAA a little while longer, and i have like 20 e-mails about good job today, or clutch at bat, or, getting on base, good example of it. and my guy has a .475 BA, 49 RBI, 4 HR and i lead the AAA in all star votes, and i have a 61 game hitting streak after 70 games this season last season i was .456 with 7 HR 39RBI in 85 games, in AAA and in AA i was .502 with 15 RBI and 3 HR in 31 games. I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!

Last Year was my first year buying the MLB The Show Series and I am impressed. This game is really fun to play! My favorite part has to be the Spring Training. I love the Spring Training feature and having the right to get to play with everyone on your forty man roster. I am also looking forward to the regular season and playoffs. I have not tried the Road to the Show feature but it also as well seems like a nice feature. The only bad part of this game is the graphics. I do think some of the Spring Training Fields aren't that good, and there is no umpires. The only problem with this game is the Graphics and Animation, and they need to update their rosters. For example Adam Dunn, Manny Ramirez. and Ivan Rodriguez were still free agents. I would recommend this game, but there are some changes that Sony is going to have to make to this game.

I just bought this game a week ago. I started out with MLB 2k9 and HATED IT!!!! I then moved on and bought MLB 09 The Show. It is a little more expensive than 2k9 but let me tell you that it is so worth the higher price. The live weekly roster updates are great. My favorite feature however is Road To The Show 3.0. I created myself as a pitcher and had to make the team, negotiate a contract, discuss things with the manager, TRAIN, start games... At first i was skeptical about the graphics because i hadn't purchased the show since the 2007 installment and went to 2k8 for the next year. The announcers are still the same and the interface is similar but thats ok because it is familiar just like watching a game at home. I would highly reccomend this game to any baseball fan because it really is as the box says, NOTHING GETS YOU CLOSER!
Rated 5 out of 10 by AndyCohn123 If you have a psp I would not recomend this game
I would not recomend this game at all. I think that the game is not nearly as good as people say it is. In Road to the show they on;y record your stats for 2 seasons and than stop recording your stats. In Season the game does not work as you ask it to do like the Coustomize player is bad because no matter how bad you make him he still asks for at least 8 million dollars. I think that the graphics arn't very good becasue I like games with good graphics and I know what good would be and I thought that the graphics where very poor. Because I was thinking it would be much better because on PS3 they where very good and I thought it would at least be 2 times better because of how much people where saying it was. I have not played 10 the show on PSP but hopefully it has some improvment.
Rated 10 out of 10 by misterderek Best MLB game money can buy!!!
This game is just awesome! I bought the game when it came out two days ago. I had been waiting for it for quite some time. They have made some pretty good improvements to the game since '08 the show such as improved batting stances. The fielding looks more realistic and no longer has those impossible catches that kept us all wondering? The intro is also good in how it talks about the great position players. But the main thing i think i like about it is the fact that it is more challenging than '08 the show. I haven't played road to the show yet but i'll get to that eventually. I currently have spring training going right now with the Oakland Athletics. I'm sucking right now because i'm 0-6 but hey that challenge is what i've always been looking for in a game. This is a must buy game!
Rated 5 out of 10 by Joe S. Big disappointment
This game is probably one of the most disappointing games I've ever purchased. The graphics are terrible. It's hard to follow what's going on. It takes an eternity to load. A lot of the players aren't ranked properly. There is no minor league system. And most fans know of young studs in the farm system of their favorite team... Well... Those young studs aren't in this game. Overall, the quality of this game isn't really good. It could have been much, much, much better. The best part about this game is the more involvement you have during the off-season in the season mode... But if you're going to buy this game you might as well ditch the PSP version, buy a PS3 and then get the PS3 version. I'm sure the PS3 version is much better............

This is better than what I expected. I expected a game that is just slightly better than 2K9, but this game is miles better than all of the 2K games. Although I'm sure this game is better on PS3 than it is on PSP, it's still real fun. The main concept is the same, and ha sthe same things, but the graphics a fuzzy, and the crowd animations are very mediocre. The announcing is fantastic, and helps a lot on Road to the Show, when you fastforward to your next event. It also has what the players are like right. One thing that I think gets a little bit annoying is the meter for pitching, which is just something that takes up screen space, and is rather hard to figure out. The controls are great, and I really like how you can guess the pitch, and it informs you if you are correct. I also don't like that you can't do a power swing on Rookie mode, because I always do the easiest mode, then work my way up, but since there is no power swing it's almost impossible to hit homeruns. So all in all, this game is actually very fun and fantastic, but there's just lots of little things that annoy me. I'm new to these games, so I'd reccomend it to anyone who hasn't played these games, and probably anyone who has played these games, but if you have a PS3, get that version, because I'm sure the PS3 version is way better than the PSP version, mostly graphics wise. If you have a PSP, you should get this game.

I really like this game. It is better than 2k9, and if you like baseball, this is a good game for you. Road to the show is great, but it is pretty hard to make yourself a good player. Season mode is awesome, but the rules for the draft are tricky to follow and you have to obey a lot more complex rules than in 2k9. Also, in terms of gameplay, and you attempt to strike someone out, there are way too many foul balls. It is also very difficult to come across a homer while playing. But overral, if you are stuck between 2k9 or MLB 09 the Show, pick the Show.
