Rated 10 out of 10 by Selmon95 Best PSP Game:HANDS DOWN
As you can tell by the headline, I like this game. A LOT. This was my second MGS game I have owned and I am impressed. The story may be confusing for some but once you get it, it just draws you in. The controls work pretty well for the PSP and is as easy as a regular MGS game. The length of the game is pretty long for a PSP game. It is around 15-20 hours long. The graphics are about the best you'll see on the PSP. The voice acting is amazing and i give a big Kudos to the cast. It is challenging in both the story and multiplayer modes and I have a blast beating up my friends online. The online doesn't lag or anything and is the best i've used on a PSP game. Overall, if you own or have played MGS games before, this is a must-have. If you want to start off your MGS experience, this is a great place to begin.

I remember on thanksgiving to i sat at home and wondered how can i play metal gear solid in the car on the way to florida. i didnt want to bring my ps2 bcuz i didn't want to hog the T.V. in the car. we stopped at Target to get some snacks and there i saw it: Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for the PSP. I begged my mother to get it for me. I was preoccepied the whole time between this game. Follow Naked Snake, not Solid Snake, on a journey to liberate a conutry from Gene. you can capture others from the opposing army and bring them to your side. online play is also fun. you can play over the internet, or play with someone using gamesharing mode. if you ever wanted to take all of the stealth-action fun of MGS2 and 3 with yuo wherever you go, im positive that ths will be the first game on you r list.
Rated 10 out of 10 by ValentinoG 1st game to show PSP true potential!
I never played this game until just 2 days ago and all I gotta say is, "AMAZING!" This game is pretty damn challenging and the graphics look insanely good on the psp. The only thing thats annoying is the control, but with a few changes on the control setting, you'll do fine. Took me awhile to find it as well, since this game is kinda rare to find. Nowadays, all you find is Metal Gear Portable Ops PLUS, which is just extra mission, but this game is the complete story after Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. So far, this game has been truly challenging which doesn't disappoint me at all. The game is truly amazing and if you're a metal gear fan (which I was last year, until I finally played Metal Gear Essential Collection), you should definitely buy this game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by googaligwok this is a fricking must own
look. everyone knows its hard to find good games for psp. theres probably only about one good collections worth of good psp games out there. however, this is a must own. the controls were just fine for psp. and the storyline is great. not to mention i love the team based operation but you still only control one character at a time. i actually haven't beaten it yet. but. i'm stuck on the boss python. however instead of just trying desperately time and time again to defeat him. i simply abort mission and go try to rally up some more soldiers as well as increase snake and my other characters health and stamina. one thing that u definitely should do. is when you recruit a soldier. unless ur putting him in the sneaking unit, strip him of his gear. then, cheat in all the characters you can. try www.gamespot.com for cheats. ign works too. definitely put null and python in the sneaking unit along with snake. then. cheat in all the other characters, put them in whatever group they work best in, and then strip them of their gear. you can find some pretty awesome guns and stuff on the guys u cheat in. Null is one of the best. hes about as good as snake, and his machete powns. its like one or two hit kill. this game is a must for any MGS fan, any person who needs some psp games, or anyone whos looking for a fun, stealth shooter.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Buttertoth34 The missing link between mgs3 and mgs peacewalker
This game is meant to tell the story of what happened between the time from mgs 3 to mgs peacewalker. If you don't really care about the story then i recommend you don't get this game.. but i care about the story and like to know about what happens in that time. The recuriting of soliders can get a litttle tiresome and take away from the gameplay but the way you recruit is pretty fun. There are a ton of classes that make it fun to try and find the best of the best.. There are some touching moments in the story and it is a really deep story.. the boss battles are really fun and the levels can get a little difficult..
Rated 10 out of 10 by Kpats12345 Another Good MGS game!
I love the series and this one is first and favorite game on the Portable. The graphics are the best Ive seen on a PSP next to Little Big Planet and Tekken 6. The gameplay is great and you can really get into the game just like that. The story is great, it shows when Big Boss forms his own group of mercanaries. The game also includes a online mode, which really works and you are less likely to LAG. I recommend this to anyone who is new to the series or is looking for a good PSP game.
Rated 7 out of 10 by TheJewishGamer18 Not my kind of game
To start, I was into MGS for the story and for the story alone. The stories of this franchise always interested me, but I never dug the gameplay. For one thing it was always too shallow for me and too frustrating to play. This game follows the path of all the other games, and that can be good or bad depending on what you think of the Metal Gear Franchise. I didn't like this game, because of the shallow and frustrating gameplay and a number of other minor problems that came together to cause me a massive headache. The only redeeming qualities of the game are the story, and the sound. I'm not going to bother with the story. Fans of the series will get it. Newcomers won't. I really hated the gameplay of this game. It's just involves you timing headshots against enemies so you could sneak past their defenses. Get caught and you're as good as dead. The added component of recruiting soldiers is interesting, but in the long run it doesn't make that much of a difference in terms of gameplay. I also hated the fact that the missions are very very short. It doesn't give you time to appreciate the gameplay. Another VERY frustrating element of the game is the stamina bar. You have a certain amount of stamina in the game. If it runs out, you die. It can be very annoying, especially if you're trying to figure out what you're trying to do in the mission. All this being said, I did like the story of the game, as well as the sound. The story draws you in and keeps you interested, while the music and voice acting are both spot on. However, it isn't enough to save this game. In short, I'm being nice by giving this game a 7. It should've been lower. Only true Metal Gear fans will derive anything from this game. Newcomers stay away.
