When I first played it, I thought, WOW THIS IS AWESOME, and it is, but CodeMaster could do A LOT better. I was disappointed when it came out on the PSP, and not a major system like PS3. But the gameplay is great, although it's descent for a PSP. Good game, and most reccomended for racing fans. Set-ups are also good, although I sometimes don't understand the tune-ups and how to "work the car properly", so this definetly a game for those who understand the concepts of racing or Formula 1, but over all, it's great game!!

I love racing games but Gran Turismo left me with a sour taste of wanting more and no real purpose to keep playing. F1 beats that with a 3 year career, one season, or specific races. F1 has the usual detailed system of controlling what you want in racing realism by controlling the gear changing, pit stops, auto brakes, and camera angles. Also manipulating your car's setup for your driving skills and the course and weather is critical. At first I found myself all over the course, missing turns, losing speed, hitting walls, but after a dozen practice laps, tweaking the car, course speed and perfection follows. I love the quick challenge area. Play 2-3 minute sessions with specific challenges. I am at a wall on the racing with slick tires while raining and trying to finish 2 (yes just 2 laps) in 8th place or better. I sounds easy until you take a turn and hit a wall or cars. The sounds are great with headphones. I can tell when cars and how many are coming from behind based on sound. My wife hates the game due to the constant whine of the engine and tires. But I need the sound to tell when I need to fine tune my gear ratios in specific areas to avoid low rpm's. The thrills come when you are competing for pole position prior to race day. Each qualification period gives you 10-15 minutes to race as the lowest 5 get removed from 20 to determine ranking. The last 10 racers after two previous time trials have only 10 minutes (4-5 laps) to rate the highest for pole position. The challenge comes to get your best lap first and then improve while other post better or worse times (which you find out as you race). Two or three simple mistakes can keep you in the pack, making it harder to take the lead in the first few laps. But when you hit a perfect lap flawlessly you will hear the pit crew tell you when you shaved time off one of three markers you will see a negative time post on a lap which is a good feeling. To avoid rambling further, I am a Monster Hunter adict and other games have kept that title out of my system for a while, F1 will be added to that list of favorites that will shave time off my monster killing hour log. But I will be happy with it and feel it was well worth the purchase toping off NASCAR, Gran Turismo and the various city racing games.
