Great for RPG and Strategy Fans
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is great for fans of RPG games and strategy games. The game features motion video scenes, giving the scenes a hand-drawn animation video. The game is kind of like chess, including new heroes like the Onion Knight and the Dark Knight. The graphics are meant to look like sprites, so the graphics are pretty good compared with the graphics of Final Fantasy 1 or 2. The gameplay is almost exactly like chess, and you can choose between Move, Act, Magic, etc. It might not be the best battle system, but it's okay. The sound is really good, with music playing in the background when you're battling. The story is brilliant in the game. You can also play multiplayer too! You pretty much play battle after battle, but if you're an RPG fan, you kind of get used to it. Overall, Final Fantasy Tactics is a great addition to the Final Fantasy series.

View the True War of The Lion
The battle system of the game may not seem so fantastic but the game makes up for it with a amazing story. It brings a classic back to life in the modern generation with some old and new faces. You will find other Final Fantasy characters place in this game like Cloud Strife(FF7),Balthier(ff12),and Kuso(FF Tactics A2).See the revival of the game with cinematic & watch the Story of the Ramza and Zodiac Stones.

Remake of my first SRPG? Yes, please!
The original FFT was my first SRPG, and the first game where I felt that grinding was actually rewarded in more than just "ooh, extra money" and "ooh, higher level!" If you've never played the original FFT -- which, if you can still even play it, will set you back quite a chunk of change -- but you've played the FFTA series games, you're in for a treat. The combat, to me, feels deeper in the original, as well as character advancement being more involved. The dual-class system is fantastic, and was, much to my chagrin, absent from the FFTA games I played. The graphics are somewhat dated, but no worse than you would find in most NIS America games (Disgaea, ZHP, etc.) and, since it is almost a direct port of the original, it is forgivable. My only real problem with this game is that it is a port/remake -- honestly, I'd rather have a new game with a new story -- and with a slightly wonky control scheme compared to the other SRPGs on the PSP --, but, in the mean time... this will suffice.

Mind blowing! One of the best games for the PSP!
Just finished this game and let me just say this, War of the Lions was a hard game and mind blowing at that! I was like "Oh yeah this was gonna be awesome!" I was kinda confused at first because I did not realize that once you lost people in battle you lose them forever. I had not realized I was playing a game with penalties similar to that of Fire Emblem. (By the way Fire Emblem, great game for those who have played and those who haven't, check it out!) It is one of the hardest yet fun games ever made, if you love challenges and a good story than this is for you. Also if you are a hardcore gamer. The whole thing just blew my mind in its splendor and Glory. Its definitely a great pick up!

It's an acquired taste
I'd like to start by saying that, after reading most of the reviews of this game, I'm less surprised by the frequency of negative scores here. Most of the people who gave this game a bad score picked up without being prepared, without playing the original or looking into at all, and that was a mistake.
The first Final Fantasy Tactics is still one of my all time favorite games, and this one climbed right up beside it, it's the same old battle system, the involving story, the fun class evolution, and the same memorable characters. If you played the original and liked it, this game is for you, if you never played a tactical RPG before and enjoy trying new things, this game is for you. If you want an epic story then this game is for you.

Bleh.
I dont like this game at all! i got it for christmas and as soon as i picked it up i hated the battle system and put it back down. Just to move it takes up a turn. It's okay for strategy gamers but i'm more for games like Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts BBS, ones that dont take turns, and heck i even like final fantasy one and that took turns. this one is just a big let down. Sorry Square, but thats my opinion.

Don't listen to the negative reviews.
I've played and beat the original and WOL, and I have to say they are both amazing. If you like strategy games, definitely try this one. The customization inside the game is awesome. You usually only get 5~6 characters per match and some classes are useless, but the overall fun of mix and matching isn't ruined. The new classes are ridiculous when you get them, but it will take awhile. The story is great and there is a lot of gameplay in here. Get a friend to play with too. There are many coop missions to do that will unlock the best gear in the game. I remember my friend and I spent a good 2~3 hours on the hardest mission. You can also battle friends on WOL to see who really has the best character. It's definitely one of the top 3 for psp.
