Dungeon Explorer: Warrior of the Ancient Arts
minimal concerns for this rpg blockbuster
i bought this game on a play station store download. i have not yet completed the game so i can not judge length properly so i have based it on previous reviews. so far this game has been a hit in my book. it has a good storyline and the controls are easy to understand and properly placed. the animation for this style games is far above average. i have only two real concerns. one is with the weapons and armor choices. the shop should have high level and low level weapons and armor. that way you have a more personal choice of what you want instead of just buying the new set when it comes out. the final order of business is one one that one of the previous reviews pointed out...armor visibility. it would greatly enhance the game experience if you could see the coolness of your armor when you equip it. even though much of this review has been critiquing this game please do understand that it is still a great rpg/dungeon crawler with much more good in it than bad. this is a highly recommended game in my book for anyone who likes a good role player.
My boyfriend picked this game up a few days ago. We both recently got PSP's and are always on the lookout for a good multiplayer. After playing for about 4 hours, he strongly urged me to go out and get the game for myself. So we rushed out to get to the store before it closed (on Sunday) and picked up the game. I absolutely love it so far. There are 3 races to choose from, each with numerous classes to choose from. Each of the races have a different home town and story line. He played an elf race, and I chose a human race. I created a thief and I love it! You need to play a while before getting to mulitplayer, but you sure don't get bored! The story is great, the graphics are very good, and the battles are fun and challenging! I would strongly recommend this game to any PSP & RPG enthusiast.
This game is very underrated
After I picked up this game I went home and checked the reviews out on some websites to find out that maybe buying this game was a bad choice. The average critic review was in the high 5's to very low 6's out of 10. But once I put it in I found out that they made a huge mistake on Dungeon Explorer. This game is AWESOME, in fact really my only disappointment with it is that when you put on armor it doesn't appear on the character when you're playing and you don't gain XP when you play online, but that is balanced out since you can find better weapons easier than playing alone. Other than that, this game is great. It plays a lot like games such as Diablo, also this game throws at you a lot of different job classes to unlock in case you're bored being the job you picked. Another great thing this game puts in is randomized dungeons so you don't end up walking around in the same dungeon you walked through hundreds of times before. Lastly, this game has great replay value since there is a hard mode that can be unlocked and the game is told from 1 of 3 perspectives depending on what race you choose so the story won't be exactly the same every time through the game and with the large amount of job classes in the game you most likely will not be able to play with them all your first few times around. So overall I would for sure recommend this game to anybody who is a fan of dungeon crawler games or RPGs because I have barely put this one down since I bought it.
Honestly I think this game is going to slaughter all other hack and slash games for the psp. Sure there will probobly be that little issue with the camera but it will still be playable. I also like the fact that you can AD-HOC multiplayer. Hopefully the character customization will be better than monster hunter's dinky character creation.
