I bought this game on release date thinking it would be a sequel to the disgaea series, you know that tactical RPG? Well what i purchased was in fact not a sequel or continuation of the series in any way, something i want everyone to know right away is that this is not an RPG PERIOD!!! i played this game for about two and a half hours and found it incredibly boring, even though every once in a while you'll find a good laugh from the randomness of the story you will be repeating that moment over and over again, literally, as the main mechanic of the game is going back in time and trying to solve the mystery again if you so failed to do so before. This game is not an Action/Adventure as it states above, it's just an interactive play, and while the most hardcore fans may appreciate the humor and familiar faces i would have to say you should avoid this game entirely unless you are a die hard disgaea fan who doesn't mind the fact you'll never be physically doing anything.

I will warn everyone thinking of purchasing this game, do not buy it! unless you are a die hard fan of the disgaea series you will quickly find that you have just paid $20 for an interactive play. The entire concept of the game is possesing other characters to prevent a character from being assassinated however the level of control you are given within this game leaves a lot to be desired. You can posses people, this is true however possesing alone will do nothing other than follow that certain character around when they leave each scene, the game also gives you the ability to use "mind control" however it gives very little control and the extend to which you can change things is fairly minimal. This game is not anything like previous disgaea games, as stated before it is an interactive play based in the world of disgaea, there is no leveling, no item world, no intense boss fights, nothing you would probably expect when purchasing this game so please do me a favor and avoid this game unless you are an absolute die hard fan of the series. The "game" has a few good laughs but it does not have what you are going to expect from the game so please save your money.

well dood there back again and this time its a "choose your own adventure type game", like the books i read in school , i love it dood!!! there are some cool things you can do in this choose your own adventure game, mind control, possess etc.. with the possess option you jump body's as the prinny who finds tic toc clock, the story line is great and the game goes on for a bit with many options , i must say for 20 bucks this game is well worth it and the re-play value is high on this one , id go out and get this if i was you dood , (i hope they come out with a fighting game soon !!!! DOOd ..) also N.I.S put out a cool new room on the playstation home to mark the event "the evil academy" with some cool unlocks all and all its a great week to be a Makai Senki Disgaea fan...

This is primarily directed at people that think like SaintInWarPaint, a person below that has two reviews on this game instead of just one. This is not an RPG like most of this series is. This is a visual novel. Visual novels are popular in Japan. Visual novels often require lots of reading with occasional interaction. Before playing a game you know almost nothing about, you should try finding out if it actually is like past entries. And if you don't, you may regret it like some people seem to. I'm also recommending Sakura Taisen to anyone that happens to like "niche" visual novel/SRPGs like Disgaea.

I'm a die hard fan of Disgaea, This new one is going to be great you can influence the game, change the future with stuff you have done within the past its over all a great, GREAT STORY line its puns from laharl and etna are absolutely freaking funny and omg if you havent ever played Disgaea your going to LOVE THE PRINNYS AND THERE JOKES, the dark jokes the humor is great the story is good the game has always had long play hours first 3 Disgaea took me 100 hours+ just to do anything great in the game, I Reccomend this game to anyone as a much BUY GAME!

has no action whatsoever, a perfect waste of time when playing it. When i bought it i thought it had the action series from the previous games.
