Looking VERY great....EXCEPT!...
As you know, WWE is all about, Past, Present, and Future. If you are a major WWE critic, than you should know that THQ did a pretty "ehh" job with the video game series, I've seen THQ make AMAZING games, but WWE just was not one of them. After they bumped up to leaving Smackdown vs Raw and leading into WWE 12/ WWE 13, they were finally improving, but not by a lot. Now, granted 2K did not have enough time to improve the game for WWE2K14, they managed to still make it a great game!! I mean, Undertaker's Streak mode, 30 Years of Wrestlemania, and even a better WWE Universe mode. Now I do not know about you guys, but I really liked the Road to Wrestlemania than the Attitude Era and 30 Years of Mania mode, give or take couple of those options of matches on the game modes. Now to the future. 2K is letting their visual concept team make the game come to life instead of Yukes. FINALLY!! WWE characters will look more realistic to them. NBA 2K has rosters that look VERY close to the actual players so 2K really has my expectations high on this superstar feature. Moving on to more greatness!! Usually when it comes after WM new superstars get debuts. Unfortunately, WWE games do not have time to add them; 2K, fortunately, does have that potential, and ability to do it. They also could avoid this problem by just simply adding the NXT Roster so you can just change their roster setting. Speaking of NXT, rumor has it that 2K will make a game mode where you can create a superstar or use a current NXT superstar, or diva, and have him or her start off at NXT and work their way up to getting on the roster, getting noticed more, having main events, and even have the chance to be the Divas Champion or WWE World Heavyweight Champion!!! Most of the time they have another game mode to the game and it will probably be a WWE Superstar/Diva career mode like SD vs Raw 08' or just a simply better WWE Universe mode like they have the past couple of years. Now for the EXCEPT part. Have you seen the cover of this video game?!?!?! No, it is not the fact it is John Cena on the cover, it is the fact that WWE logo looks like a cartoon and the background design is just not really that exciting. Maybe a different cover or pose, I don't know, but it's bothering me. (lol, sorry, needed to be said.) That does not matte though because it is all about the stuff that is in that silver donut you put in your game system. Now we can hopefully make Undertaker beat Brock Lesnar at WM 30 because I swear that was like a living nightmare and a childhood dream crushed. For a "Preview Buzz' this game gets a 9.3/10.
This game is going to be beautiful. The graphics, game play, audio everything. And hopefully Paige is in this later on in the future so I can beat her up with AJ Lee:) (sorry to all the Paige fans)
I bought WWE 2K15 and played it for about a week before I sold it back to gamestop. There are so many things wrong with this game. Lets start off with the Positives in this game. One positive thing in 2K15 is the Graphics they are absolutley beautiful and very well done. I think that is the only postive in this game. There are so many bad things in this game. First off Career mode is the worst thing I have ever played in all of the WWE games ever created. It is so boring and you just play match after match after and nothing good happens no storylines, no rivalries, no meaningful matches it's just your created character in a bunch of pointless matches unitl you reach enough fame and then it moves you on from NXT to Main Event to Superstars then to Smackdown and finally Raw. They also took out many types of matches and match types in the game so you are very limited to what you can play. Playing online is a terrible experience because you will either have a bad connection or play a person who can counter every single move by mashing the counter button and another downside is that matches literally take 2 minutes because kicking out of pins is impossible. I will leave you with this final statement. This game is for people who want a wrestling game just to use their favorite superstars and have fun wrestiing but this game is not for me or anyone who wants a compelling story and to feel actually like you are in the game yourself.
Worst Game in the Last Decade
This is the worst WWE Game in the last 10 years! Ten years ago, we saw Smackdown vs. Raw.
The controls are too complicated for a (now) fast pace wrestling game. Unfortunately, the A.I. is much faster now. The A.I. typically chooses the "Grappling Mini-Games" that capitalize on the gamer being human (and being less accurate).
There are no more Diva CAWs! The WWE Games have been known for their lackluster Diva Roster. CAWs and Community Creations were the only way to beef the Diva Roster up and make Divas useable. Truth is, no one is going to play with 6-8 Divas more than a few times.
In this game, you have far less options. You can not customize much to your liking.
What's great is graphics are a lot better on next generation consoles although faces are a little off.
I truly feel that this game should have been delayed until 2015.
I've been playing this game for the past few hours. Graphics are greatly improved the the gameplay as well. This is a great foundation for next year's game. With what I see I'm very optimistic for the future wwe games. I've played them all dating back to wrestle mania on NES. Gameplay is by far the best on this one.
Good but could be better
Coming from a guy who played every installment this is a good game. I see a lot of people complaining about the controls but in all honesty it just takes getting use to. The reversals can get a bit annoying at times because you pretty much have to be precise in order to perform a reversal now, but after playing the game for a decent amount of time I got the timing down to perfection. The career mode is a great foundation to build upon for next years game, but they definitely need to add more customization to the game. This year you barely have any customization at all and the stuff you do get feels bland and mediocre at best. The graphics in the next gen version is by far the attraction to this years installment. Every character looks very realistic with a few exceptions such as CM Punk. You definitely can tell that they didn't do the face scan feature with him like they did with the other wrestlers. Another gripe I have is the Divas are only limited to 6 playable characters, and there are some modes and other features that were present in previous games that didn't make it in this years installment. The new grapple system is ok and feels like a Rock Paper Scissors mini game more than anything. It has potential but I feel it isn't quite there yet. All in all it is a good foundation to build on and a good starting block for next gen systems. If you are a huge wrestling fan then this is definitely worth a buy. If you are a casual gamer or if you are big on customization then you may want to wait until next years installment.
Sting has just been confirmed as a pre-order bonus. Once this website updates, I'm pre-ordering! Very excited. I'm glad 2K is in charge of the game because we will see some great things on PS4/Xbox One... I haven't been this hyped about a wrestling game since WWF Nomercy & the first Smackdown vs Raw!
