Nights of Azure is a tragic tale of two friends faced with impossible decisions that will test their loyalty to their quest and to each other. Set on an uncharted island that floats in the North Sea, Nights of Azure paints a picture of a land where nights are tormented by azure-blooded demons. In this kingdom of Ruswal, very few people leave their homes after the sun has set, let alone have the strength and skill to take on these powerful monsters. One of the best among these brave few is the protagonist, Arnice, a knight of great skill and power, who is assisted by her friend and priestess Lilysse in a quest to rid the land of demons. However, they soon find out that the solution to the island's problems might not be as simple as defeating enemies in battle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting Action RPG Looks like Gust was trying something new with more than their turn based rpgs of the Atelier franchise. The game is similar to a lot of other games in its genre, but seems to still have some personality of its own. Definatly worth a play through for any action or JRPG fan.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lackluster and needs expanding I purchased this game the day it was released after being drawn in by the artwork, music, and general trailers that I saw. I also saw some gameplay online which made the game look interesting. I don't speak the language the game was in so thankfully I really had no idea what was happening in the story. The story is interesting and I like the concepts it provides. One downside is so far I haven't left the town I began in despite being level 4 and nearly through the second chapter. Also the max level in the game appears to be 10 It appears the game is completely situated in this town with the hotel being the primary hub for all activities in the game. There are a number of times the main character refers to things that have happened in the past yet there is no way to play through those times. It's simply a passing "by the way" moment. Likewise, the characters sometimes ask one another do you remember when.....with no context as a player what happened then or what circumstances brought up that original experience. In this way, I find the story to be lackluster at best. I wish it would have been expanded allowing for a person to travel to different continents and expand the characters themselves. The item system needs a lot of expanding also. Items in this game aren't like other JRPGs. Items are equitable like any other armor/weapons. The same items appear over and over again with similiar stats. All I have done is sell those. The same items are purchasable in stores so I haven't seen a use for money yet. Finally much like the story the map itself is extremely limited where a person visits the same areas over and over again. It reminds me a lot of Dragon Age 2 where every dungeon looked the same with a few new areas open. It's effectively the same. I'm glad I have been able to play this game and I would definitely suggest doing so. I would wait though until the price falls as I don't see it being worth the $60 purchase price.
