Product Details:

Become a part of Major League Baseball's biggest moments. Welcome to The Show.

From San Diego Studio, developers of the highest-rated sports video game series over the past eight years, comes the most authentic MLB gaming experience ever made: MLB 14 The Show.

2014 marks the debut of MLB 14 The Show on the PlayStation 4 system, harnessing the platform's next-gen horsepower to deliver an unmatched presentation. Player models benefit from huge advancements in detail, down to the finest hairs on their heads. Photo-realistic stadiums boast four times the texture resolution, with each scene jumping in polygon count from 150,000 to over 1 million. Vastly improved 3D crowds are more lifelike and varied than ever; 42 different crowd member models jump to 1,000 on the PS4 system, each of which are comprised of 10,000 polygons, up from 1,600 last gen. A wealth of new animations, grass rendered down to the last blade, new intro fly-ins, and many other enhancements on the PS4 system bring the atmosphere to life more effectively than ever.

Key Features:
  • Next Generation Baseball Has Arrived - MLB 14 The Show makes its next-gen debut on the PS4 system, utilizing the system's vast resources to deliver exceptionally detailed and fluid gameplay. With improvements to presentation, a wealth of added animations, and a dramatic increase in environment and player detail, we are setting out to create the best-looking and best-playing baseball sim ever created.
  • Year-to-Year Saves - For the first time in franchise history, saves can be carried over from MLB 14 to future releases of The Show, meaning that gamers won't have to worry about starting their Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over in years to come.
  • Player Lock - The new Player Lock feature (a.k.a RTTS anywhere) gives users the ability to lock-on to any single player and enter games using the Road to the Show gameplay mechanic, allowing for faster games and more focused on-field action.
  • Quick Counts - Users will now be able to play a full nine-inning game in less than 30 minutes, half the time it takes in previous iterations of The Show. Despite the shortened game durations, realistic stats will not be compromised.
  • Universal Profile - A new tendency-tracking system monitors and records gamers' unique playing styles. Those patterns are stored in the Universal Profile, which can be viewed by anyone looking to get a quick scouting report on the player. The Universal Profile can also be subbed in in place of a CPU opponent in Diamond Dynasty and Online Franchise, making for more realistic head-to-head matchups when schedules prevent synchronous play.
  • Community Challenges - Players will be able to freely toy and tinker with game situations and scenarios on the fly, whether that's the inning, score, who's on base, or where the ball is hit. These custom situations can be bundled with a creative set of goals and put forth as a challenge to the community, whether it's to relive the past, change history, or dream of new possibilities.
  • Online Franchise - Finally, Franchise mode can be shared with friends online, with most of the features from the offline version making the transition, including Scouting, the Amateur Draft, Free Agency and CPU Trades. The mode will remain highly customizable as scheduling, divisions, postseason spots and more are all commissioner options.
  • Stubs - Playing games in MLB 14 The Show rewards players with Stubs. Stubs can be used to purchase additional in-game content - like Road to the Show training points - or used in our new mode, Community Challenges. Stubs can be earned in any mode, and they are not required to progress through a mode. You can still purchase additional in-game content through the PlayStation Store.
  • Diamond Dynasty Extra Innings - In this mode, a player's team is always looking for opportunities to challenge other users in an offline setting, which allows the user to earn bonus rewards the next time they log in. When online, the player has the opportunity to challenge other user-created teams in an offline game where the CPU controls their team. Players can only benefit positively in this mode even if their team does not perform up to their normal standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As close to the perfect baseball game as can be. While everyone is wanting realism in a video game none have made that happen 100%. MLB 14: The Show comes as close as any baseball game has ever come to making that happen. The players movements and looks are almost lifelike. The stadiums including the fans are wonderfully done with almost every detail done down to a tee. The umpires look and act like they should and the addition to how the ball boys and bat boys interact with the play throughout the game makes you feel like you are watching a real game. As for the gameplay, I have been playing baseball video games since the Atari 2600 days and this one by far has the best gameplay of any game ever produced. No pinpoint control for your pitchers and no 80+ home runs for an average player in this game. It looks, feels and plays like a real baseball game. The only thing missing from it is the smell of the stadium, overpriced parking and that loud noisy drunk guy sitting 2 rows behind you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Show does it again! RTTS is by far what keeps this franchise going. There is nothing like getting the chance to live your fantasy of playing professional baseball. New to this game is that they have revamped the advancement system. You no longer have the goals that keep you going with your manager. Now you can train your player at your own pace. You get called up based on your overall skill and how well you've been doing. Also right before you get drafted you have to choose what part of the country you are from and play in a prospect series game to determine your draft pick projection by the early rounds, middle rounds or late rounds. Not much has changed in the gameplay. This is definitely one of my favorite games to play!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A slight disappointment but still worth the buy MLB 14 The Show was a slight step backwards, compare to previous iterations of the franchise. Playing the game on the PS4, there were flaws that hampered my gaming experience. Online play is downright awful. If you've never played MLB 14 The Show and expect a nice online gaming session, you're out-of-luck. The game is notorious for it's online lag and server shutdown. Conversely, away from online play, MLB 14 The Show excels in many phases. One being the graphics/visuals department. MLB 14 The Show looks eerily similar to a real, live baseball game on TV. The sounds are mostly good, with the exception of the redundant broadcast team. Bat hitting the ball, ball landing on a glove, the sounds of umpires calling balls and strikes and the organ playing baseball tunes during games all resemble a true baseball experience at hand. The game features different modes: online franchise, season, franchise, Diamond Dynasty (online). However, the most popular mode is Road to the Show (RttS). RttS allows you to create a player and guiding him from the ranks of Minor League player to MLB star ( I personally like turning my created player into a starting pitcher). Overall, I felt MLB 14 The Show could of made improvements or added new innovations. Instead, what the gaming community and loyal fans got was something similar to what's now common in many sports games titles--roster update.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favorite game!!! This game is exceptional!!! Although there are some moments that will either make you rage or make you just really annoyed at the game it is still overall my favorite game. You should definitely get this game even if you don't know much about baseball because it will catch on in no time......... PLAY BALL!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Game My ONLY complaint with MLB The Show is they do not have a tutorial in the game to show you all the different controls. I had a really hard time in "experienced mode" because I did not know how to use most of the controls. A tutorial showing you have to manually bat and steal bases and stuff like that would have been wonderful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Greatest baseball game to date... I first started playing this franchise when I bought MLB 07 The Show for my PlayStation 2. I loved the game (although I received a bad disk at the time and had to exchange) but as a game, it was great. I more or less was too young (7th grade) to really get into the technical stuff (managing a team and all that roster managing stuff) and I stuck with the franchise/season mode with my favorite team, the Pirates. I had moved on to the Bigs games for the Xbox 360 and loved those as well. I loved the arcade style, but after a while, I really started to miss the feel of a real baseball game that was more like a real game than arcade style. I tried to play the 2K games, however with the MLB 2K games, they started not caring about graphics and not changing the interface, so I lost interest. That brings me to today, and now that I own a PS4, I bought this game the same day as the console. Since I've plugged it in, this was the first game I tried, and it does not disappoint. It has amazing graphics (although sometimes choppy, which will probably be fixed next year), up to date rosters (and by up to date, they release new rosters like once a week!), and just an overall great experience when I put the disk in. There are so many different modes to play! Online with your own created team in Diamond Dynasty, Franchise and Season to play a full (or however many games you want) season and lead your team to the World Series, Road to the Show which follows one player (custom or current MLB player) and has great controls in-game, and many other mini-modes and home run derby type game styles. Overall, I think for next year, I want the game to be a bit more smooth graphically (which really isn't bad this year, but there's always room for improvement) and maybe a bit less customizable options for those players who don't get into every little detail (I love it because I'm a huge baseball fan, but some people just want to play the game!) Overall, this game is amazing. The playability in the future is outstanding and I won't get rid of this game every year to get a new one, because they'll keep updating it!
