It's About to Get Real

Guitar Hero® Live is here. FreeStyleGames have reinvented the legendary Guitar Hero franchise, with two innovative new gameplay modes and an all-new guitar controller.

GH Live mode puts you onstage, looking out: you get a heart-stopping first-person perspective as a real crowd reacts to the notes you play. Or switch over to GHTV - a playable music video network, where you can play along in real time, discover new music, and challenge friends around the world.

YOU are the rock star
Playing music in front of a real crowd is like no other experience. With the new GH Live first-person view, YOU'LL take center stage like never before.

Feel the rush of performing in a REAL band, in front of REAL crowds who react in REAL time to your performance. You'll either win the crowd or lose them. Plus, your band mates will also let you know if you're rocking out or need to pick it up. Fight the stage fright and bring down the house.

Awesome music, epic venues
In GH Live, you'll take the stage in a variety of venues. Experience it all from the intimacy of a small club or the main stage of a massive outdoor festival.

GHTV is a continuous broadcast of music videos where you and your guitar controller are the star. Hundreds of videos will be available at launch spanning all different genres of music, with new videos continually added to the line-up. You'll be able to discover and play new songs all the time.

PLAY WHAT YOU WANT - Turning on GHTV is similar to turning on your regular TV. Pick a channel and dive right in. Don't like what's on? Just switch over to another channel and play a new song. You'll earn in-game currency in GHTV that you can use to play songs on demand or to acquire a ton of different items in the game like custom note highways, playercards and more.

ROCK WITH YOUR FRIENDS - GHTV makes it more fun to play with your friends than ever. While one person is playing, everyone else can watch the videos. Plus, GHTV delivers exciting competition, no matter your skill level. Compete in your living room or online with people from all over the world, playing at similar progression levels and difficulty as you. Check out the leaderboards to see how you stack up against fellow rock stars around the world.

LEVEL UP AND EARN REWARDS - Level up to unlock more content and achieve Hero status. Along the way you'll earn the use of new Hero Powers and you can level up your guitar. Hero Powers, similar to Star Power back in the day, can be used to gain a competitive edge and achieve new high scores.

PREMIUM CONTENT - Premium Shows include anything from new music videos in GHTV to live concert footage that you can play along to. Get access to this content by leveling up and completing challenges, or use real currency to play instantly.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE - In GHTV you will have access to unique personalization items. Customize your note highway and playercard to show off your style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GH Veteran I am a Veteran of Guitar hero, and I've been Playing since I was 11 years old, when GH 2 came out. I've mastered the game, Competed in tournaments, beaten Hundreds of people online, and even taught a few newbies how to play. I was excited when I heard they were making a New Guitar Hero. But after I played it for a while, and beat it, I lost some love for it. Almost nobody can play Expert mode, and the New button layout on the guitar is a nightmare. Even if you master it you still mess up on it. I don't know why they would change it when theirs never been a problem with the button layout, but it was a Bad idea from the start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think they nailed it with this one! Some people are saying how this guitar hero is a bad one just because of things like the new guitar controller and concept. I for one think that this a a great way to make an old franchise new again. And take it from me, it's not hard at all to get used to the new button layout. I think guitar hero tv is one of my favorite features because it offers up music videos and live concerts and i think that is something innovative for any music type game. Games like rockband 4 are the exact game as their previous ones, just with new oldies. Guitar hero live on the other hand has innovative and new written all over it. It also has old and lots of new songs and the library keeps growing all the time. As i said rockband 4 is the same concept with nothing new and that is why i feel that it is inferior to guitar hero live. That's just my personal opinion though.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Connection My wife loves this game, and games of this sort. The HUGE problem with this game is the lag, or connection issues between the guitar and dongle. I have looked for a correction, but seems as though this is a mass issue. I am thinking to swap out with Rockband 4, but it seems as if the guitars on there have the same issue. I will likely be returning the 2 pack bundle that I waited so long to get, I just hope that I do not have the same issues with every other game I get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun for All!!!!! This is the best guitar hero yet! So much game play you could play for days. The graphics are awesome and fun, you really feel like your playing with the band. The reason why I gave the sound a 8 is, the crowd doesn't get hyped when you go into Hero mode, other then that the musics great. They have songs from 2015!!! This game is fun for all ages and groups, I can play with my family, and younger kids. The best improvement Guitar Hero made is GH TV, you can battle all who play on the internet. Gives you the want to keep playing, to beat your rival. They are also adding songs which is cool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Content Sucks, but i still love GH It could use more of a story mode, i think they focused too much on the graphics and audience reactions instead of the songs and career mode. But it was still an awesome, but short, game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The New Era of Guitar Hero Let's be clear - if you want traditional guitar hero gameplay, go buy Rock Band 4. Everything in that game is unchanged from the formula that Harmonix/Activision kicked off years ago. This game is different and brings many, many changes - and as we all know, gamers hate any kind of change ever. So it's not surprising to see so many low scores. The fact is though, the changes here actually make the game way better - and way cooler - than any other rhythm game. So what's good in it? For one thing, the fact that half the game operates like a tv service is awesome. You switch between two neverending streams of music videos that keep you on your toes because you can't just replay one song over and over until you're perfect at it. You have to be flexible with the types of songs that crop up, and I can't tell you how rewarding it is to absolutely smash a song the first time you play it. Even better, when a song you have played before comes up, it's much more exciting because it feels like discovering it - sort of like when your favorite songs come on the radio and that somehow makes them sound infinitely better. Additionally, the change to the guitar controller is awesome. No more stretching your pinkies to their limits to hit orange button chords! This new 6 button guitar is more challenging in some ways because it offers more realism to true guitar chords, but easier in others because it offers textured buttons and a simple 3-column structure. The bad news is in the "Live" aspect of guitar hero. I find myself constantly playing in the TV mode because Live is just too cheesy for me. The TV mode has the cool, relaxed ambiance of playing along to (the good old version of) MTV. The Live portion of the game is jarring and doesn't feel organic enough. They do have fun tracks in there, but it's hard to ignore the overeager videotaped audience's reactions. You get a couple chords wrong, and they boo as though you had just walked offstage. But if you come for the TV part of the game, it's worth your time and money.
