Far Cry 4
GOTY in my opinion
This was the best game Ubi launched all year (I'm looking at you The Crew & ACU). The story is good but every amazing game doesn't need to hang it's hat on the story mode. There are so many side quests & places to explore this game will keep you preoccupied for hours! Sometimes, you feel the world is way to big to do everything. If you enjoyed Far Cry 3, you will really enjoy this game. It's every bit of Far Cry 3 but with a lot of extras & a world of endless possibilities. The Fashion week missions are not only terrifying but also challenging & fun. You will respect the honey badger!! Because Honey Badger don't care! (Please see attached video.) The animal A.I. is great & so is the enemy A.I. Watch out for the Rakshasa! They can mark you to be attacked by animals & they are crazy ninja's with a bow & arrow. I'm never one to invest in season passes, but the season pass for this game is worth picking up. You get Yeti's & a lot of other extras. Multiplayer in the game is fun. Co-op is great but if you're not the host, you will not receive the progress. The game will keep you preoccupied even after you beat the story mode. Definite pick up!
Far Cry 4 had big shoes to fill after the massive success of its predecessor, Far Cry 3. Far Cry 4 takes us not only to a brand new country but fills that country with amazing landscapes, incredible people, an original mythology, and just about anything else that makes a place feel authentic.
There is plenty to do even if you don't want to do everything and it can fill quite a large amount of time. Being a completist I wanted to complete everything and did it within forty hours. Any complaints I have are minor, I think that the animals were way too relentless in the northern half of the country but I still enjoyed my time there.
I think this is a game that has something for everyone and just about anyone can have fun playing it, I'd recommend it to everyone I know.
Choose this over Unity
If I had to choose between Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity, I would choose Far Cry 4. Basically the engine is the same as it was in Far Cry 3. Im glad they didnt change it because it would have been a HUGE disappointment if Ubisoft released 2 awful AAA titles. The gameplay is awesome, it truly means it when it says every second is an adventure, because even just walking through the jungle to get to the place your going is fun because your never know what your going to run into. The sounds in it are awesome too, fairly quickly you want to learn the different animal sounds so you can know if it's a predator or just a random deer. The story is somewhat like Far Cry 3, but what it lacks in story it makes up in gameplay, trust me. All in all it's a fun game so far. I havent run into any bugs or glitches. Im so glad Ubisoft didnt mess up this Title like it did with Assassin's Creed. Get this instead of Unity.
Best Shooter of the Year Hands Down!
Anyone indecisive about getting this game, GET IT! If you love an amazing FPS with a great story, meaningful side quests, solid and fun gameplay, then this game is for you! Like Farcry 3, there's a lot of hunting and killing animals, so if that's not your thing, there's not a way to avoid it. However, my view is that if you're okay with brutally killing, stabbing, slashing, slicing, maiming, shooting, and blowing up human characters and not animals, well you might have your priorities wrong. I found myself hating Pagan (main antagonist) from the START. Within 2 minutes I'm emotionally invested into this game, and it only gets better. I won't go into the story to avoid spoilers, but it really is great. Those of you familiar with Farcry 3 know almost everything can kill you. And try they do. During one of the first missions I hear the sound of an Eagle, look up, and see it barreling down towards my face from the sky! Another time I round a corner in the brush at night, see some wolves, and turn to run another way into a small cave to complete a delivery mission. Sure enough, I turn around, and see 4 of these things darting around the corner and lunging at me! Those moments when you just have to lift up and spray are incredible. The attention to detail is stellar, the way these wolves run is so smooth and realistic. The graphics are another masterful achievement, I'm convinced the opening scene was as much to introduce you into the gameplay as to just show off the graphics. Snow flakes falling onto the ground, jaded and layered mountain sides, strands of rope sticking out, its all done well. I don't have a single complaint about this game. Only thing "wrong" I've encountered was that a double headshot flung a guy about 10 feet up in the air like he got hit with a hulk uppercut, but the humor made up for it. Overall, excellent game. You DON'T want to pass up on this one.
Fun for a while, but gets boring
I really liked this game, but after a while I felt like I was doing the same things over and over, and I lost interest. The sound and graphics are great alongside the gameplay, but I have to give the last appeal a 2/10 because I really don't feel like this game is fun for a long time. I would have liked to have seen Ubisoft add a little more variety in the gameplay rather than what seems like the same missions over and over.
Another Installment to the Far Cry Series.
Far Cry 4 is a game I have been waiting for and am ecstatic about its debut at E3. I really enjoyed Far Cry 3 and after I finished the game and scoured the land to kind everything I could I was left wanting more. The last game had extremely smooth combat and a phenomenal story that took you all across the massive open-world you were placed in. Now you are placed in Himalayan mountains where the imaginary region of Kyrat exists. It is a painstakingly beautiful setting and you know it will be full of dangers that you will welcome in a flurry of bullets and explosions. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game and see how much it can outmatch its predecessor. If you agree give a thumbs up. Add me on PSN as well ZeGamerBoy.
Astonishing single player, limited co-op
The best thing about this game is the graphics. Farcry 4 is without a doubt the most gorgeous game on the PS4 or any console. The Villian, Pagan, is an absolutely amazing character and keeps you hooked through the story's 15 hour ride. The Driving is honestly better than any game on the new gens and that is saying something. If you were turned off by the stealth in Farcry 3, its still here, but the game has been redesigned to allow you to play action based as well as stealth based, the way it should be. The fun of hunting animals and liberating outposts is very much alive and makes this game a must play to anyone fortunate enough to have a next gen console. That being said, the co-op is fun and great albeit with limited things to do and the multiplayer feels very tacked on. Different, but tacked on nonetheless. Play this game for the campaign, and try out the multiplayer, worst case scenario, trade it in and be satisfied with your investment.
Only for Hardcore Fans and First-timers
Overall, it is quite the enjoyable game, however, if I was being honest with myself, it is nothing more than a visually remastered and replotted version of FarCry 3.
Mechanically, the game-play is on point, but leaves me asking for more complexity despite the abundance of things to do. Considering the character, I shouldn't feel like a one-man army even when playing on hard mode. The forests aren't very dense at all leaving the stealth element a bit incomplete. The game caps at about 30 frames per second and gets a bit jagged even with the slightest movements.
FarCry 4 did not deserve to win Shooter of the Year. This fact is confirmed by the award acceptor openly stating on stage that he was surprised that they won.
I only recommend this game for hardcore fans and first time player's of the franchise.
Can't put it down
I loved Far Cry 3 so much, I played it twice. On the XBOX 360, but now I have the One and the PS4, I chose to play it on the PS4. So many choices right out of the gate. I like to build up all my pouches by hunting down animal skins, then go and take over the bell towers so i can see the maps. The sounds are amazing, you can hear carnivorous animals in the distance so you can get ready to drop a piece of bait so it gives you a chance to get your weapons ready to take em out. Flying in the one man chopper flying over the beautiful landscapes and seeing animals run through mountainsides is second to none. The honey badger is as hard to kill as the rhino though, darn honey badger. Killing people isn't real easy, not to hard either. Great story too. I put this game up there at a 9-9.5 with Infamous second son. I will play this more than once. Oh, and to complete, your probably talking 60 hours. not an 8 hour game.
Far Cry 4 is an excellent game all-around.
After playing Far Cry 3 and loving the story, I was equally impressed with 4's dynamic story line and exciting game play. It is a must play for any kind of gamer!
