Fun but a pain.
So far this is my favorite dragonball game but it can be a pain sometimes. Especially PQ-47 where goku and gohan do nothing but spam ultimate's making it very hard to beat. Other then that its a very fun game.
Not worth half the price
I was excited about this game, like everyone else, and then the game was released. After that, my excitement for the game slowly left me. It's practically an MMO. This game is a joke, and an embarrassment to the series. The graphics are okay, but they could have released this game for the PS2. Do not buy this game unless you have money for a new TV, because you'll be throwing your controller at your current one. It won't be out of frustration, it will be out of hatred. You can play as SS4 vegeta, and then get stomped by Raditz.
Awesome Game in a While!
Growing up as a kid, I was attached to the Dragon Ball Z series and the games. After Ultimate Tenkaichi was released, I've lost all hope for the game series. I was very sad until this piece of art showed up on YouTube. Let me just say one thing. This game is possibly the BEST Dragon Ball Z game in a while! The most awesome thing about this is that it has its OWN story line! It's finally great to see Bandai Namaco burst out of its bubble! I was surprised myself! Graphics aren't THAT bad. Sound isn't that irritating unless you're in a parallel quest with many allies going through portals. One thing that's really disappointing is that they skip transformations on a certain character. Also the fact that in early levels that you have to fight 20 different characters and if you lose you have to retry. It's really irritating, especially knowing that this is a game for Teenagers. Other than that, the game is a great! I've enjoyed other old Dragon Ball Z games, but this is the #1 on my list!
Giving It a Chance
Personally, I have been a Dragon Ball fan my whole life and own 90% of the games that came out for it. As someone else stated earlier, the really good games were on the PS2 and all of the games that came on the Xbox 360 or PS3 were terrible. I returned all of the games I bought because of how disappointed I was. However, I tried the beta for this game when it was released. It was not like Battle of Z or Ultimate Tenkaichi. The game was immersing and I was only disappointed when the beta time ran out. The game features an amazingly massive online component (from what I've seen so far) and is similar to Grand Theft Auto in a sense. You can complete missions with friends and earn rewards, fight 1v1, or play multi-person battles (not sure how many people). You can even have one of the original characters be your mentor online! Customizable characters and multiple races to chose from are just some of the great things this game had to offer. All in all, I am personally sold and anyone who is a fan of Dragon Ball should definitely consider buying this one above all others
Favorite DBZ Game Ever
In terms of enjoyment, this game is way up there with some of my favorites. The only drawback I see to this game is that certain parts of each saga aren't shown or explained. It doesn't take much away from the game, as everything has been tied in very well. It's sort of a nostalgic thing for me; I want to see the whole saga completely rather than just having my character jump into the three or four major fights of the time. All in all, a very solid game and the online connection is great. There are some online connection problems as in all games, but there is some ways to get around it. Customization for characters is a blast and the difficulty of getting certain items or skills keeps the game fun and fresh. In terms of ranking for DBZ games, this definitely beats the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi games. It dominates over DBZ Sagas (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube) but doesn't even come close to how fun Legacy of Goku II (GBA) was but, then again, nothing ever will :)
post beta impresion
I preordered it a few months ago and was really exited to play it. I got to play the beta this past weekend and I'm defiantly getting it. Its an open town where you can meet other players, challenge others to 1v1 2v2 or 3v3 battles. Winning gets you Zeni you can use to buy items and costumes to customize. You can also learn moves by becoming a pupil of your fav. character. There was even an offline mode if you just wanted to explore on you own. The battle mode was fun. Sometimes you would defeat some opponents and then open a portal to another arena for another battle The beta only let you create a human male/female or namik but the final version gives you more race chooses (sayian, majin, human, namik and possibly more still no word on others) I've been a long time dbz fan and I have to say I'm satisfied so far. Better than battle of z and different/better than UT's custom character mode.
DBZ Xenoverse Review
After watching so many painful DBZ games come out in recent years, DBX grabbed my attention since it is a next gen dbz game. I decided to buy it day 1 and was not disappointed with the game. I love the graphics, the music, the sayan saga which has a great twist to it so its not the same story that we are accustomed to. The best part is of course the online feature and the character creation. I are able to battle 1v1 2v2 or 3v3 and you can do quests with up to two of your friends against the computer to gain experience, collect capsules that can be used for health, powerups, etc... and money to buy better armor, accessories and new moves for your character. The character customization is great, you can choose from friza's, namekian, human, sayan, and majin race for now and there is enough customization to make your character unique. I will admit that at first my character sucked because it didn't have any moves, but after reaching level 10-15 you start to get descent moves for your character. I love how you can create your character according to your fighting style. I like to fight up close so my moves and armor are better in up-close combat. One hiccup I noticed is that the xenoverse servers have been malfunctioning throughout the day and I get kicked out of the online toki toki city, but thats probably bc everyone and their mothers are trying to go online to play DBZ (XD). however, I have not been kicked out or experienced any lag while battling online enemies or doing the Parallel Quests with other PSN users. Please Please Please pick up this game because its a refreshing taste of the dbz universe and I find the story quite interesting. the battling is great in my opinion but It took me a while to get used to since I hadn't played a dbz game since tenkaichi 3. Give the game a try :P
Best DBZ Game In 7 Years!
Ok so first let me start off by saying awesome job dimps. This game captures a lot of the specs us dbz fans have always wanted from creating your very own db world character to battling giant apes. let me start off by saying this game is like no other dbz game we've had, the story is not the same old thing we would play in the previous dbz games. This game's story was nothing more than superb. The combat at first its a little similar to that of the dbz battle of z until you realize you can actually come up with your very own combos, especially because you can unlock a lot of the super moves you'd like on your character and trust me there's a lot of moves. the graphics are really beautiful. the online is a bit shaky at the moment because of course the game just came out. I played last night and I had no problems with the servers. I really recommend this game to dbz lovers that want to take one more than one opponent at a time, come on saiyans we love the excitement of being able to hold off your multiple opponents at once it makes you stay on edge and its so rewarding. BEST DBZ GAME I played since budokai 3, tenkaichi2/3 this game makes me excited for the future of dbz games they still have so much to give to the fans and non fans if your interested!
Best DBZ game yet
After trying out every DBZ that has been made I was hoping for the best from this game and that is almost exactly what I got. Being able to customize your characters is great, the gameplay is really good, and the graphics are alright. After all that being said, it is scary how much potential there is for this game. Not only that but I haven't even got into the online play which I'm assuming will make this game even more worth playing. I recommend this to anyone that is interested in DBZ or if you just want to play a great game. Can't wait to see where this game ends up through DLC and the future DBZ games that will be made after this one. This is a must buy.
Don't do it.
If you are wanting a good and lasting dragon ball z game steer far away from this thing. It has a broken system, underwhelming gameplay, and unfair missions. The character creation is Ok but that's about it. And still even that's a little broken. Nameks are the weakest idiots in the game and god help you if you run into a Frieza race online. And let's not forget the idiotic decision that was Super Saiyan. Apparently when you turn super saiyan you don't lose energy when you use Super Attacks or Ultimate Attacks. So this allows people to spam ultimate attacks until they transform down. And then they continue to spam it them. The story is ok at best but that doesn't save it. Overall it's not an enjoyable game so go buy Raging Blast or something like that.
