So , do you wanna beat your head into a wall? If you do, this game is perfect for you! I've been playing it for a couple hours now and I am exactly no further than I was 15 minutes into the game. Here is the deal people, this game has no heart. If you die your up a creek without a paddle. You lose all of your currency and have to start over from the beginning. If there were just a few more waypoints along the road... If you had some easy system to move between the dream world where you can improve items and the real one where you have to fight it would be much better. I played for an hour this morning and made it to areas that I had never seen before but alas one wrong step and I'm hamburger. I lost all of my money and was restarted at the beginning again. I wanted to pull the game out of the console and snap it in half. There was no way I could make it back to may death spot to collect my gear let alone actually find it again. There are no goals, no plot, no mercy, and no more me playing it.

From Software is known for difficult games that have a very well balanced risk/reward structure. From Demon Souls to the 2 Dark Souls games, hardcore gamers have been handed their head many a time, only to come back for more punishment. That said Bloodborne is in the same vein as the souls games but it is also different. In this case different is better, in my opinion. The combat is fast and fluid, less lumbering than souls. The atmosphere of this game is second to none, the dark dreary Gothic setting, the perfect sound design, and the ambiguous story telling is here in droves. I have seen games with slightly better visuals on the PS4 but the particle and lighting effects here are amazing. If you are a fan of difficult games that subconsciously draw you in to explore even though the next thing you face could wipe the floor with your tattered corpse then this is for you. HINT - You cant level up until you have died at the hands of or defeated the first boss, or found a special item in the sewer.

If you're looking for a challenging game that keeps you wanting to come back and play, than this is the game for you. There's a great amount of customization and challenge in this game. I spent 2 hours trying to kill one boss and as frustrating it got at times, I knew with the right strategy I could kill it and I couldn't stop trying. I don't think I could recommend this game to casual gamers though, as the level of difficulty and lack of tutorial for different parts of the game may leave people frustrated and not knowing about certain aspects of the game without exploration. The game looks amazing and the atmosphere is incredibly creepy with audio that fits perfectly. I really enjoy the combat as I feel in complete control. You can take no damage from anything if you have a good enough strategy, but this is pretty tough to do. I personally love demolishing monsters with my 2-handed weapon. If you want to dust your ps4 off and finally use it, than I would definitely recommend getting this.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Danimal87 Nothing but a great game here.
Bloodborne is a gaming experience like none I've had before, The Souls games have there hand in some of the mechanics of this game, but the art and texture of this immersive landscape story and terror of Bloodborne are truly unique. The gameplay is fun, fast, and thrilling. Enemies are just as fast if not faster than your hunter which is challenging and envigorating. Yharnam's mysteries will have you coming back for more. Very few games have made my adrenaline spike and my heartbeat raise as you go through a new area for the first time. An excellent gaming experience for any "hardcore gamer" or RPG fan. A hunter is never alone. May the good blood guide your way!

Welcome to the world of Bloodborne, a third-person RPG PS4 exclusive with an appeal to the hardcore gamer. The game trains you to accept death (you will die often), and to find new and interesting ways to deal with a multitude of enemies and more importantly, the environment. The world is a dark, creepy place no matter where you look, which surprisingly is inviting. The game runs smoothly with minimal hiccups and graphically is head and shoulders above the Souls' series. Every now and again when you are staring at the open (and ever changing) world, hit the SHARE button to view spectacular works of art or the craziest of battles. Enjoy!
Rated 10 out of 10 by Cojak90 Frustratingly Addictive
After playing for a couple hours, I was so frustrated I wanted to throw my controller through the TV. Finally beat the first boss and I have been hooked since. This game punishes your mistakes so hard, but that is what makes it so addicting. You build up your blood echoes to finally purchase much needed upgrades and then boom! A dog comes out of nowhere and you lost it all. You can never fall asleep in this game but to finally defeat a boss more than makes up for all that heartache the previous enemies gave you. The game is meant to be hard and you can definitely feel that, especially in the first level, but not impossible. The graphics and sounds are very good and makes this game amazing just to watch. I would only recommend to hardcore gamers who don't need their hand held throughout an entire game. Play this game, push through the first area and I promise you will not regret it.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Bigtim Wow dying is fun frustrating but game is addictive
A must have for RPG fans I got this game for fathers day and I didnt think I d like it I died quite a bit within the first few days of the game and I just beat this game last night it took me 105 hours. This game is creepy fun and addictive the storyline is hard to follow but the cutscenes make up for it. I have never played a souls game but after this I am interested. Let me say the combat system and lock on was the only letdown in this game besides talking to that creepy doll. Although I got the true ending or real ending I worked very hard I dont how many times I d die on a boss and say ill get him next time and it made me go back for more. There are 2 other ending as well graphics are a ten play it within your headphones on at like 2 am.The sound effects mess with you there are hidden dangers and secrets around every corner you must decide at times to run or fight. It would be wise to stalk up on weapons and firearms and when fighting the bosses in this game stay back and study there attack patterns. I must say I paid 40 for this game I dont mind pay 60 dollar s for a game when I get my moneys worth. The only other knock on this game is no dlc and playing co-op is a pain. If you like RPGS with a story then this is your game .A must buy
Rated 8 out of 10 by mike02144 Bloodborne - Good Overall Play, But many flaws
I gave Bloodborne an overall rating of 8, so that tells you that it is overall worthwhile game to try. The graphics and sound is premium. The overall concept of the game is fantastic. I absolutely love it.
However, there are some major annoyances that go along with this title...I repeat...SOME MAJOR ANNOYANCES. First, the character leveling up does not really increase your powers. There are very minimal increases on each upgrade. My biggest issue with the game is the fact that all defeated enemies are returned if your character dies and you restart at a checkpoint. There is no reason that a gamer should need to replay entire areas after a death. If anything, From Software should have included more checkpoints so the player could avoid going through an entire area in detail over and over.
The key to success in this game is defense. You need to really work on your defensive skill in order to survive.

The game grabbed my attention when I saw the ratings on here, gamestop.com, but after playing this for nearly three hours, I began to realize that I've never played a game that was so terrible! I've played maybe around 1,000 games and not once have I EVER quit a game because it sucked SO much. Out of all the games that I have played on my PS4, this has the worst graphics I've seen. Not only that, this has the worst dodge system ever and no blocking. The dodge system doesn't avoid hits for some reason and brings you the damage anyways. I will, however, admit the game seems difficult because you do die in a couple of hits. Whether you dodge the hits or not you'll still die in the set number of swings it takes to die from whatever is hitting you. Also the story is rather boring and really doesn't tell you what to do or hint that your suppose to unravel some sort of mystery. On top of all of this, the character customization was awful. You will pretty much end up with a character that some else has created. Even the sliders on the details of your character barely change them at all. Overall, this was just the worst game ever. I wish these reviews could sway my opinion or I could say my copy is defective, but that is just not the case. I would like to thank anyone that has took time out of their day to read this because this is the longest review I have done so far, but I tell people as I see it and this game is not worth your time.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Pixelush Honest Review after playing it for 3 weeks
I've finally completed the game so here is my honest opinion to share with you. The visuals and soundtrack is amazing. The story is very cryptic. It's setting starts off like a Van Helsing-Victorian-Monster Hunting adventure which leads to a Lovecraftian eldritch horror tale towards the end. The controls feel frustrating in the beginning but I got used to it the more I play (someone even beaten the game using just a Rock Band guitar controller so it is not bad as some people say). The loading times where too long, but luckily they fixed it with an update (seriously, check for updates before playing). In conclusion, I would highly recommend Bloodborne but keep in mind that it is a HARDCORE game. It's not design for casual gamers because it demands your focus and attention. You need to think quickly and act fast or else, you will die over, and over, and over again.
