Wanna beat your head into a wall????
So , do you wanna beat your head into a wall? If you do, this game is perfect for you! I've been playing it for a couple hours now and I am exactly no further than I was 15 minutes into the game. Here is the deal people, this game has no heart. If you die your up a creek without a paddle. You lose all of your currency and have to start over from the beginning. If there were just a few more waypoints along the road... If you had some easy system to move between the dream world where you can improve items and the real one where you have to fight it would be much better. I played for an hour this morning and made it to areas that I had never seen before but alas one wrong step and I'm hamburger. I lost all of my money and was restarted at the beginning again. I wanted to pull the game out of the console and snap it in half. There was no way I could make it back to may death spot to collect my gear let alone actually find it again. There are no goals, no plot, no mercy, and no more me playing it.
Pure Hardcore Fun
From Software is known for difficult games that have a very well balanced risk/reward structure. From Demon Souls to the 2 Dark Souls games, hardcore gamers have been handed their head many a time, only to come back for more punishment. That said Bloodborne is in the same vein as the souls games but it is also different. In this case different is better, in my opinion. The combat is fast and fluid, less lumbering than souls. The atmosphere of this game is second to none, the dark dreary Gothic setting, the perfect sound design, and the ambiguous story telling is here in droves. I have seen games with slightly better visuals on the PS4 but the particle and lighting effects here are amazing. If you are a fan of difficult games that subconsciously draw you in to explore even though the next thing you face could wipe the floor with your tattered corpse then this is for you. HINT - You cant level up until you have died at the hands of or defeated the first boss, or found a special item in the sewer.
Definitely worth the money
If you're looking for a challenging game that keeps you wanting to come back and play, than this is the game for you. There's a great amount of customization and challenge in this game. I spent 2 hours trying to kill one boss and as frustrating it got at times, I knew with the right strategy I could kill it and I couldn't stop trying. I don't think I could recommend this game to casual gamers though, as the level of difficulty and lack of tutorial for different parts of the game may leave people frustrated and not knowing about certain aspects of the game without exploration. The game looks amazing and the atmosphere is incredibly creepy with audio that fits perfectly. I really enjoy the combat as I feel in complete control. You can take no damage from anything if you have a good enough strategy, but this is pretty tough to do. I personally love demolishing monsters with my 2-handed weapon. If you want to dust your ps4 off and finally use it, than I would definitely recommend getting this.
Let me first start out by saying that I never played a dark souls before, so I didn't really know what to expect. After playing bloodborne I have decided to go back and play those games. This game can get very challenging at times, but that is what makes it fun. This is not a game for casual gamers it takes a lot of skill. The environments in this game are very unique and visually amazing. My favorite part of the game is all the different enemies in the game. They all have a creepy vibe to them that adds intensity to the game. This is one of the few games (Bioshock and the last of us) That I can not put down. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a challenge. don't listen to the bad reviews of this game, those are the people that think this game is "too hard".
Bloodborne - Good Overall Play, But many flaws
I gave Bloodborne an overall rating of 8, so that tells you that it is overall worthwhile game to try. The graphics and sound is premium. The overall concept of the game is fantastic. I absolutely love it.
However, there are some major annoyances that go along with this title...I repeat...SOME MAJOR ANNOYANCES. First, the character leveling up does not really increase your powers. There are very minimal increases on each upgrade. My biggest issue with the game is the fact that all defeated enemies are returned if your character dies and you restart at a checkpoint. There is no reason that a gamer should need to replay entire areas after a death. If anything, From Software should have included more checkpoints so the player could avoid going through an entire area in detail over and over.
The key to success in this game is defense. You need to really work on your defensive skill in order to survive.
Being a Dark Souls fan, I had to buy Bloodborne at midnight. It is amazing. The game is challenging and the combat is fresh. I would recommend it to anyone who has played any of the Souls and enjoyed them, or even to people who never played them who want a fresh new challenging game. Best part about Bloodborne (in my opinion) is that you can set an online password with your friends so you guys are the only ones who can connect with each other, which is great for co-op play.
Honest Review after playing it for 3 weeks
I've finally completed the game so here is my honest opinion to share with you. The visuals and soundtrack is amazing. The story is very cryptic. It's setting starts off like a Van Helsing-Victorian-Monster Hunting adventure which leads to a Lovecraftian eldritch horror tale towards the end. The controls feel frustrating in the beginning but I got used to it the more I play (someone even beaten the game using just a Rock Band guitar controller so it is not bad as some people say). The loading times where too long, but luckily they fixed it with an update (seriously, check for updates before playing). In conclusion, I would highly recommend Bloodborne but keep in mind that it is a HARDCORE game. It's not design for casual gamers because it demands your focus and attention. You need to think quickly and act fast or else, you will die over, and over, and over again.
Best in years
this game is absolutely incredible. The visual detail is breathtaking, the sound effects are heart pounding, the game play is challenging yet gamers will adapt after a few hours. If I could score this game at an 11 I would. In wished all devs took this much time to create a masterpiece. Hail from software
Die Several Times and Learn Your Mistakes
I have never played Dark Souls or Demon's Souls but I gotta say that this is truly the best PS4 exclusives I am currently experiencing. It was really difficult at the beginning as I kept dying several times but once I come back alive, I would learn all my mistakes and become more adept in combat. The environments and architecture are amazing even though the creators could have improve the graphics. This is totally my favorite game so far and I'm definitely going to pick up the copies of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls due to the great experience of playing Bloodborne :)
Worst game I've ever played
I've been playing video games for over 20 years now. My first game system was the NES and the first game I ever played was that horrible Friday the 13th game for the NES. But I created an account on this site just to warn customers away from this abysmal mess of a video game. The controls are so clunky and the character so flimsy that I spent 30 minutes trying to progress past the first enemy of the game. After 30 minutes I gave up, repackaged the game and never played it again (a complete waste of $60 to boot). Unless you consider battling extremely poor game design your idea of a fun challenge stay as far away from this game as possible and pick up a game where the challenge is in the game and not the controls.
