Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stupid Mechanics A Rage inducing game, everything is luck based, not recommend unless you want to test your patience. A pretty creative game, I give you that, but a badly designed game, you can find yourself as a grazer running through 3 zone full of carnivores without a single plant to eat, the camera view is just awful, it's so small and limited that chance are once you see a wandering carnivore, they will see you too, and no way you can outrun them to save your life. The toxicity feature is the worst thing in this game, I had yet in my life, see a poison cloud that follow me through half of the game map, poisoning every possible plant I can find. Bathing in a water pool or drinking from it is one of the few way to reduce toxicity level, and it reduce a WHOOPING 5 POINTS, OUT OF 100 ! And guess what ? It takes a whole 3 or 4 step to fill those 5 points back, making it useless. 10/10 would recommend if you want to grief a friend or a family member you hate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple but brilliant! Tokyo Jungle is a game that flew pretty under-the-radar, probably due to being a PS3 exclusive, but a game that deserved more attention than it got. Simply put, you play as an animal (there are many different species to work your way through) trying to survive post-apocalyptic Tokyo, picking up clues to where the people went. That is pretty much the entire story mode, and it is undoubtedly a pretty poor campaign mode. But the survival aspect is ingenious; you must find food, avoid predators/competition, establish territories, and even mate to succeed (passing on some of your skills to your progeny). Only a few buttons are used, so learning when to time assaults and counters is of critical importance. It may sound incredibly boring, but the whole is definitely greater than the parts. In short, the gameplay is the most outstanding part of the game, as it should be in a game. There are downsides: the game visuals don't maximize the PS3's potential, the free-roam is still driven through corridors, and there can be a lot of grinding to the game, but Tokyo Jungle is still an outstanding and addicting title well worth your time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly fun game At a first glance it may seem like a stupid idea for a game or a zoo tycoon knock off but this game is definitely original. Its very addictive and fun to play with a friend. My only complaint is that its local multi-player only. Never thought id have so much fun being a cat and killing everything in sight!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unique, needs a full game sequel though. tokyo jungle is a very unique game, you play as an animal in small area of tokyo that all humans have left, you remember the show life after people? well that is this. you can be an herbivore or carnivore, what you are determines how you play, herbivores can jump higher, and get food from plants, they also level up faster on average. herbivores are weak though and die fast but mates produce lots of children(which are like lives in the game)... Carnivores are stronger, and have to kill to feed. mates produce much less offspring so mistakes can ruin you. larger carnivores will wreck your day as well larger herbivores if you are not careful. the multiplayer is no online, but 2 people can play on the same TV but have to share resources. I really hope they have a full game sequel the size of skyrim in a large open world in full 3d and 3rd person. it would be awesome but one can only hope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Favorite - Can't Stop Playing This game was better than i thought it was going to be in every way. It's free roam, animal simulator, with RPG elements. a simple concept, executed perfect. Controls are spot on. borderline arcade-ish in a way, but perfect. It feels like a DreamCast game and maybe that's why i love it. Bright Graphics, Clear. The focus tho, is on the concept. Every time you play is a new game in survival mode 1-2 players offline. and there is also a story mode. You get rewards for lasting so many generations and exploring territory. The city is Huge and there's much to explore. Never the same twice, always finding random groups of animals in new places. You have to play it to fully understand, but the game has Very high replay value. as you play, you make up your own little narrative being the animal in your head and it's jut fun. The city is a true JUNGLE, can you survive it and rise to the top!?? This game defiantly does what it means to do. I Hope it is the inspiration for new genera types. Don't write many reviews, felt like for this game I had to. PSN Game of the Year Award Nominee

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A potential for game of the year i love this game it gets very addictive when you start out its really hard but as you create more generations with the animal of your choice it gets easier and easier a con would be that you have to play survival mode to unlock story parts you always start as a pomeranian though
