Rated 9 out of 10 by notSOrandomGUY Great for 2007 and I am waiting for the second
This was a great game on my PS3. It had great replay value for the "accomplishments" list before the trophy system came into play, and I nailed off all but a few. Online was great for the time people played it, and there were telephones for those who paid attention to the story (or looked online), tv sets that you could turn on and switch the channels and sure it was the same things that were on, but you could sit down and just watch it, or listen to the music. It would have been really nice if there was a way after the end fight to kinda go and replay the game in a sort of god_mode. This game took skill and time to play from what I can remember, and if the screen was too dark you could always turn up the brightness on your tv. I would still have this game today for the great voice acting, and gore, but I'll wait till the 2nd one comes out. I did not experience this game in HD, so my review on graphics was not a 10.
Rated 9 out of 10 by SNO ZAD3R darkness W vs S
It is a great game because of its interface with AI and the other demonic characters. You can interact with anyone you want. your arsenal is limited to guns and melee but dark powers are a good section of lethal and unique. Darklings come in four different sections such as kamakase, gunner, lighter and the default one is the best choice. There are many side-plots to the gameplay such as becoming the godfather of the pack of goons. You can do and go anywhere with a variety of six different locations. But there are plots jumping at you left and right so watch out for people and try to kill anyone you see because most likely they have guns or back-up but most times they have both. The ending is very sad but no spoilers are allowed. The objective is simple and the guns are cool so rent it, play it, love it and wield the dark gifted powers as a sign of good faith or good devilry.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Lil_Mermaid_Girl Good underlooked game
This is one of those games that are under looked. It's not for the kids, lots of gruesome killing in it. The story is good, the voice acting is great, some of the best I've heard in gaming. Characters are good, Jakie is a good character, but the real stand out is the darkness itself. It talks to you (through your mind), and it really sets a tone for the game. You're using the darkness to help you, and it wants to control you, so its also a battle between the darkness and Jakie throughout the story, and thats where the story gets interesting. Gameplay has regular guns (a variety of different guns), but the real focus is the darkness powers. There are different attacks that you can use to creep up unexpected, smash out lights (which you're more powerful in darkness), etc, and can call darklings to do the work for you. The most useful darkling are probably the one that shoots out lights for you which is helpful. The graphics were surprisingly good too. Somewhat linear storyline, but you can hop on the subway and go to any parts of the city when you want. There is also a very neat level that takes place in a war torn, very freakish, almost sort of like its hell. This level creeped me out but was unique and took you away from the city for a good part of the story. There is online play, but its rather "tacked on" and not worth the mention really.
Rated 9 out of 10 by DemogniK easy but great
I had no problems with this game except for when I got it the multiplayer was dead which is unfortunate do to the multiplayer being quite good the storyline was amazing my favorite part about the game however would have to be the darkness snakes they are perfect for thinning a room before you ever enter you can do multiple side quests in the game and when you are next to an enemy you can do an execution which usual ends with you pulling the trigger on the enemies head for the price of this game it is definitely worth a buy
Rated 9 out of 10 by Seshka DARK, VIOLENT AND VERY FUN
I got this game yesterday after trying out the demo and I'm loving the experience. Normally, I don't play FPS games (or anything in first person) but this is the exception for me. The story is interesting and it's easy to get immersed in. The game play is fun and gets even more fun as you gain powers. And for this price, you can't beat it. This is a must-get for people with a dark sense of humor that find gore and violence fun. Go try the demo and then come back, it will be worth it.

This game is great, it is a bit challenging at the beginning do to the fact that you have to kill a lot of enemies while getting fond of the controls. Overall the graphics are good the gameplay is excellent, not only do you get to use your guns to kill off enemies but you have the Darkness as well. Great shooting game. The sequel will be really good.
