Rated 10 out of 10 by Dhens21 Great shooter!!!
As a personal fan of racing games i found Payback to be really fun and challenging at the same time. The graphics are awesome including realistic weapons and plenty of gore to go around. The environments are in great layout and often make you figure out yourself where you are supposed to go. Payback has a great weapon selection and accurate sounds to go along, though you spend a lot of time reloading. With minimal cheats and no map this game presents great challenges and lots of killing. Which is great fun but no multiplayer off line to enjoy with friends. Payback has plenty of action and a great deal of flying body parts that pulls you into the game and gets your heart going and puts you on the edge of your seat. I do however often find myself throwing grenades instead of reloading, I don't know if this is just me or maybe a bad controller setup. I do recommend this to all shooter style fans and even those who just wanna do some old fashioned killing.
Rated 9 out of 10 by wastintime A fun shooter
Soldier of Fortune: Payback has issues... the control scheme is terrible and you have no way of modifying it, the gameplay is slow paced and surreal at best. In no other modern FPS can you simply stand up out of cover and shoot the enemy at your leisure as they're bullets smack into you. the graphics aren't quite up to par, the storyline is lacking and doesn't keep you that involved, and the "boss battles" are a complete joke. However, it is still really fun! It's hard to explain, but it has a wide range of customizable weapons although the sniper rifles are pretty much useless since enemies don't appear until you're close to them, and whether you shoot with a silenced weapon or not doesn't seem to affect anything. It's simply a very enjoyable game to play, you can pick the guns you're best with and go out ond blow people apart for hours. I have to say it's not my favorite FPS by a longshot, but it's the kind of game you can put in and have fun with almost anytime and those are getting to be few and far between these days.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Mark Bad Game
I'm not even going to bother with this game. Not cuz I'm going all-out COD4 or anything. If it's anything like the previous Soldier of Fortune games, then it's gonna be pretty bad. You can already tell by looking at the cover (nobody fires a weapon like that except in a bad cowboy movie) that this game suffers from the same calamities that made the previous SOF games a joke. Over-the-top action and gratuitous violence and gore are the big sellers that make this game more suitable for immature middle-schoolers with negligent parents rather than true FPS fans. There was no attempt at any tactics or strategy, decent AI, or even fun gameplay in any of the other games, and as far as I can tell right now, the developers haven't changed it all that much. If i'm right, this game will be ignored and forgotten in a month. if i'm wrong, we'll see....
Rated 0 out of 10 by Optimus Prime This game got banned from Australlia crika!
Soldier of Fortune Pay Back looks like a awsome shooter game the graphics look amazing the guns look amazing the Blood and Gore effects look great anyways its been about five years since the last SOF game was released on top of that this one got banned from Australlia for its excesive amounts dismembered body parts and gore hey thats war anyways it wont be pushed back in America because Esrb already rated it M for Blood and Gore Sexual Themes Strong Language and Intense Violence.I've already pre-ordered my copy!
Rated 5 out of 10 by star34 A bit better than Shellshock 2: Blood Trails
This game is sorta bad but at least it's better than Shellshock 2. It has a customization loadouts and is fun killing terrorists with brutal gore. Though the game has worser graphics and story then Shellshock 2, At least Soldier Of Fortune Payback has multiplayer (Which by the way no one ever plays). I say its OK.

This game has some pretty hardcore weapons, dual scorpians, Ak's, M16 with grenade launcher attachment. Its pretty crazy all the blood and reaction points they put in the people in this game. If you use a strong weapon they react differently then if you used a weak weapon. I've never played a soldier of fortune game before but this sounds like the previous games with better graphics and better targeting spots. i'm still buying it and if you like these type of games you should to.
Rated 6 out of 10 by Jeefa Gruesome, Maybe Fun...
I picked this game up for about $7 at Gamestop. This game kind of reminds me of 007 Goldeneye for the N64, its a little dated but its still a decent game especially since there is actual dismemberment of enemy soldiers.. The voice acting is terrible, the story is way too short and it doesn't support trophies... also no split screen multiplayer =( so no real replay value to me... for the price it still deserves a 6 / 10
Rated 0 out of 10 by hagaf22 activision is a publisher
activision didnt develop this game, just as they didnt cod:4, infinity warfare created call of duty, activision just gets the game to the disc and to your hands, so who ever developed this game is the one who would have rushed it if it was rushed. if this is your type of game then go for it, but there are plenty of good ps3 shooters coming out to get this one.
Rated 4 out of 10 by Unborn58 for 2011, this game is not very good at all
there is much better shooters out there than this one like call of duty black ops, call of duty modern warfare2, and call of duty world at war. The call of duty series is so much better than this. the lack of action scenes and doing the same thing over and over again gets to be boring the first time you even play the game
