Like some who have had complaints about the game, I too experienced the audio lag the first time I played. I have been playing guitar for 19 years, and I was hoping this game would help me to grow as a guitarist. So needless to say the lag was very disappointing and ruined my first impression of the game. Next day however I did what all my man instincts usually prevent: I actually read the instructions. Here's the deal, there's an insert in the case with setup suggestions. Use that! I set it up by the first one, and the lag is gone. Totally different experience. Now I will be telling everyone I know with any interest in the guitar that they must have this game. I can't speak for everyone, but I would have to go out of my way to not improve as a player by playing this game.

I have been playing guitar for about 8 years. I figured I would give this game a try and see how it works. I noticed there is a slight lag between when you strum your guitar and when the note registers with the game. While beginners might not notice this. The further you progress through the game the more noticeable it becomes. Making difficult/fast riffs near impossible to play seamlessly. I will say that this game is a great way to get your feet wet with a guitar and would recommend it to anyone looking to begin playing. However if you can already play, just look up tabs/notation and learn the song the old fashioned way.

I really debated on getting this game because I was afraid that I would get it, play through a few songs a bunch of times, struggle and lose interest. This is not the case. The first song I played was Knights of Cydonia and I am completely new to guitar but from the sound of the song it seems like a pretty advanced guitar song to start on. The game waters it down to begin with giving you about a note per measure and with the fret stickers that came with the game I had no trouble finding the right fret. After I played through the song I played some others and came back to Knights of Cydonia and the game had already started adding a couple more notes in places where I had done very well. I haven't spent much time on anything besides Learn a Song, but I am very pleased with it. The instructional videos are very helpful too. The only problem I have had with the game is that sometimes the tuner won't tune correctly, not sure if it is a problem with the game or the way I was strumming but I would play notes in song and it would say to move down a fret, when I knew I was on the right one. I would even skip parts of the song just to wait for that note to pop back up so I knew I would get it right and it would still tell me I was wrong. I started spending more time on tuning the guitar and I haven't noticed it really at all so it was probably just me rushing through the tuning process.
Rated 5 out of 10 by Randallac84 not a very good teacher
doesnt really teach you much, lags in sounds, condescending in game voice, doesnt really make you wanna keep playing, doesnt register the cords even on the simplest ones. feel very cheated having paid 200 dollars for this guitar hero wanna be game. and that is all it is, is a game.
