Product Details:

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third-person team-based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Not only does this setting provide a rich backdrop to the action but it also delivers a unique and brutal triple-threat battle. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s) add to the mix as players compete against their team's opposing squad and tackle this third, unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe. The result is a brand new style of gameplay that breaks the conventions of traditional third person shooters.

It is September 1998 and the action centers on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or up to four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

  • Team based shooter set in the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe
  • Triple threat battle as zombies and B.O.W's add to the action
    • Return of favorite RE enemies, including Hunters, Tyrants and the Nemesis
    • Risk infection from the hordes of zombies, zombie dogs and lickers. Fight to survive with anti-viral sprays, your character's special skills or help from field scientist Bertha before your character's condition worsens, turning you into a violent zombie who will attack your own team members
  • Compete with up to three friends as an Umbrella Security Service squad member in Campaign mode
  • Choose from six U.S.S characters, each with their own unique skill set and roles.
  • Features iconic landmarks and RE classic characters, such as Leon S. Kennedy and Hunk.
  • Rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak. Destroy all evidence of Umbrella's involvement at the City Hall and discover UBCS operative Nicholai Ginovaef's true intentions
  • Explore Raccoon City, collecting evidence and intel to report back to Umbrella command
  • Competitive online multiplayer modes provide a unique gaming experience thanks to the three corner combat between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops and threat of zombies and B.O.W's

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 6.0 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is for hardcore Resident Evil fans Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is for hardcore Resident Evil fans. It's like Chapter zero for the whole Resident Evil franchise. Later Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 came out. So basically Leon Kennedy survives this game. It's like a horror movie. This game is really hard. It feels cool knowing Chapter zero from how the Resident Evil game started. Like a book. Each game on it's own is good. But knowing more information helps. Some things might be hard to see or take so this game is rated M for mature. Like for adults. This is not a child's game. It's for guys who can take horror games and survive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I Wish they did it better Being a big Resident Evil fan I was really looking forward to play this game when it came out, I mean the Idea of return back to RC and playing at Umbrella tops mercs to erase evidence and to eliminate everyone who knows what went down, including killing Leon S. Kennedy? sure why not? But after playing the game at the time I question to this day why didn't put effort into this game? SPOILERS! First off the campaign is really short, I mean you can actually beat this game within a day if you sit there and play through, took me about 4 to 5 hours, give or take. I like having to see cameo appearances from other RE Characters popping out randomly, the Nemesis battle is still my personal favorites. The controls is very trouble at first, but awhile you'll get it down. But the gameplay, *facepalm* looking back i didn't know any better. It takes a full clip to wipe down 1 or 2 zombies! you run out like crazy, and if you think it take one headshot to finish em off, nope, there still standing, the AI can be really dumb. It's better to play in CO-OP, the 3 AI co op unfortunately is frustrating and annoying. The Online Multiplayer is really fun though, but with the glitches can ruin it and sadly the online is a ghost town now, no one is one so you wanna play, better look up at the forums to see if anyone want to go back to raccoon city. and the Ending does NOT make you feel satisfied at all, all the work you put into, nothing. OVERALL: This came could of been alot better with all the fixes, but it felt like playing a game that was rushed out in development unfinished and just put a bad taste im my mouth. I't had it's moments don't get me wrong, but with bad gameplay, bad AI & lack of story, etc. . . it just wasn't worth going back to Raccoon City again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from this is for die hard fans mostly I love love love the resi series, even the not so good ones (cough cough RESiDENT EVIL:outbreak 2) but when I saw this one I was a little skeptical, it looked more like a shooter than resi, but then I was like resi already is a shooter! so I bought it, AND I DO NOT REGRET MY purchase. yes I know it is completely different from the resi series altogether.but I like the take they took with this one.the story kept me interested until I beat it. and then I played it again. And again because there are different ways you can tackle this 6-8 campaign..different guns...different characters...different teams...the POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLEEEEEES..sort of...now let me get started on the pros and the cons of this game. PROS:fun zombie shooter game, decent story, nice characters, HUNK, good balance between zombie fighting and spec ops fighting CONS: SHORT, a few bugs, confusing ending. aside from that it was good..I don have anything to say about the online mode because I only play games for their story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Utter Chaos, Lots of Fun!!! RE:ORC while not in any sense is a traditional RE game it takes us back to the start of the horror where it all began, and shows us a different take on the outbreak from the prospective of the fearsome Umbrella Corp. and the lengths they were willing to go to cover up their involvement. The game allows you to pick a squad of Umbrella's top covert agents as you attempt to destroy all evidence of the company's wrong doing all the while battling with US Spec Ops, The Undead, and various people from the Resident Evil universe

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a game that returns to the roots of RE by bringing us back to the days of RE and zombies in Raccoon city. The game takes place between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I found that the gameplay could get annoying sometimes because the targeting reticle would sometimes lag about the screen and increase my chances to miss a shot. The story is somewhat short as it takes about 20-40 minutes per mission (there are only seven missions) But that is where the Echo Expansion Pack DLC's come in to play. These add seven new mission that offer a new perspective about the game as you are now controlling the Spec-Ops characters instead of the U.S.S characters. The multiplayer is where this game really evolves as you can take part in several modes that make this game a whole new experience as you're pit against other human players, but the zombies, hunters, lickers, zombie dogs ,etc are really what make multiplayer shine. Overall this game is fun and the game really isn't that hard but sometimes a glitch here and there can add frustration to an overall decent experience. But with that being said, Re:ORC is still a great game and should be checked out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Make sure you know what your getting into! I was assuming that this was going to be 100% canon but it was not.It was a for fun story placed in the timeline of RE2 so I was dissapointed because it was not made clear that is was a alternate kind of story. It was a fun co-op experience but they were missing too many key things like for instance a FLASH light I hate turning up my brightness just to see where i'm going when I have it at there recommended settings and I assumed there was a flash light do to trailers where the characters used it in the dark areas that were in the game. Over all the game was Ok definately A lot of things that could of been better and if a lot of bad minor things bother you I would never recommend it but if you just want something fun to play online with a friend through the campaign then this game is that game other than THAT just remember its not canon its make believe and meant to be JUST FOR fun.
