by Leo1Dude This is for hardcore Resident Evil fans
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is for hardcore Resident Evil fans. It's like Chapter zero for the whole Resident Evil franchise. Later Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 came out. So basically Leon Kennedy survives this game. It's like a horror movie. This game is really hard. It feels cool knowing Chapter zero from how the Resident Evil game started. Like a book. Each game on it's own is good. But knowing more information helps. Some things might be hard to see or take so this game is rated M for mature. Like for adults. This is not a child's game. It's for guys who can take horror games and survive.

by omega124 Deserves Better Than Most Reviews
Numerous people and gaming sites have given Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City low reviews because of horrible AI, spotty aiming, auto-cover, etc. IGN gave this game a 4, GameSpot gave this a 4.5, but Raccoon City deserves better than these low scores. Operation Raccoon City takes place between Resident Evil 2 and 3, and you play from a new perspective as the Umbrella Security Service, killing any survivors or destroying evidence that Umbrella was in Raccoon City. The graphics for this game are top-notch and great, from the detailed gore and dismemberment of zombies to the lighting effects on clothes, even though this game is pretty dark. The sound for Operation Raccoon City is okay, footsteps and moans sounding great but almost every gun sounds the same. This game takes a new turn in the RE franchise, returning to the memorable locations of RE2, and even Leon makes an appearance in the Campaign. I also don't see how the auto-cover system was a con because I think the cover system was a good idea, even though you sometimes cling to walls. Though this game has many pros, there are a couple cons. The AI is pretty bad, to the point where your team barely helps you and sometime shoot at nothing. The reticle where you aim annoys me at some points, and when I turn, a red dot bounces around and sometimes doesn't even hit the enemy even after you've gone through a clip. There also isn't much character depth, which I would've loved to see, but isn't that big of a deal. I haven't beaten the Campaign yet, but I'm pretty sure it is going to be short considering I've only had this for a few hours and I'm on Mission 3-Lights Out, and there's about 6 or 7 missions. This game also supports online, where you can play through 4 different modes. Team Attack, where you play as U.S.S. or Spec Ops and earn points by killing creatures and enemys; Biohazard, a capture the flag type game but you collect G-Virus samples, Heroes (my favorite), where you control memorable characters of the franchise and try to kill the opposing team's characters; and Survivor, where each team must survive until a helicopter arrives, and not everyone will fit on the helicopter. The Versus on this game is a major plus. This game deserves better than the poor reviews by gaming sites. This is not a bad game for a Resident Evil fan, like me. Overall, 8/10. Great replay value.

You have been a fan of the Resident Evil franchise from the start. This game strays so far from what Resident Evil is about that it's not even worth your time or effort. It only took me 5 hours to finish Campaign mode, and Online mode is far from entertaining after a while. Whenever there were cutscenes, I could barely hear what they were saying, EVEN after adjusting the sound settings. I would not recommend this game if you are a Resident Evil fan. Half of this stuff never even happened in Resident Evil 2. I don't like how nor do I understand why they modified the story like this. This is the last time I buy a new game just because I have been a fan of the franchise. $60 for 5 hours of story? I will never understand. This isn't Call of Duty! If you like to run around and be trigger happy with guns, and don't care about Resident Evil history, then this game is for you.

To my delight this is not or have anything to do with RE 6. Capcom will still suffer because of this.

I love love love the resi series, even the not so good ones (cough cough RESiDENT EVIL:outbreak 2) but when I saw this one I was a little skeptical, it looked more like a shooter than resi, but then I was like resi already is a shooter! so I bought it, AND I DO NOT REGRET MY purchase. yes I know it is completely different from the resi series altogether.but I like the take they took with this one.the story kept me interested until I beat it. and then I played it again. And again because there are different ways you can tackle this 6-8 campaign..different guns...different characters...different teams...the POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLEEEEEES..sort of...now let me get started on the pros and the cons of this game.
PROS:fun zombie shooter game, decent story, nice characters, HUNK, good balance between zombie fighting and spec ops fighting
CONS: SHORT, a few bugs, confusing ending.
aside from that it was good..I don have anything to say about the online mode because I only play games for their story.
Rated 9 out of 10 by PacmanShotYou Not a Socom Confrontaion but a strong second
This game is tons of fun. Its not a game that will consume most peoples life such as ghost recon, socom, and call of duty games. . . two of which on thoe lists are my favorite and the other is my most hated game ever..... no names. (COD),,,,,,
anyways back to RE: operation racoon city.
this game is more of a game i see most people getting and playing for just 6months or so.
Its game play is that of socom4 but with COD zombies.
Pros: 1. Ranking system, 2. party system, 3. constant action, 4. good teamwork based game modes. 5. co-op Campaign mode
Cons: 1. can not lay down or crouch, 2. cannot mod weaponry, 3. Gun play isnt exactly what i would call realistic at times. 4. i personalty wish they had a game mode like TDM where there was no zombies running around. But every game mode has zombies and monsters in it.
other features include:
1. online money (xp) to purchase guns and class abilitys
2. 10 maps
3. 16 weapons before the purchse of any dlc.
Well worth the ridiculous cost of new games!!!
Rated 7 out of 10 by Ascencio Definitely different that any other Resident Evil
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a game that might not attract new people that are interested in the Resident Evil Series. It's nothing like the originals (0,1,2,3,4,5, Veronica X). I can see what Capcom tried to do since this game is a spin off of the original series. Capcom (And of course Slant 6 Games) put some action into a Resident Evil game. It's very different from what we all thought it was going to be, but me as a Resident Evil fanboy love this game especially because it does talk about other Resident Evil details. The story- line isn't too long and the computer AI they give you to play the Campaign solo just doesn't work. I recommend playing this game with friends and enjoying the game as a team. I will admit it is harder than I thought it was going to be. Overall this game does have a lot of flaws, and this game isn't perfect. But if your a long-time Resident Evil fan, this game will be different and probably your least favorite, but you'll find a lot of fun in this game too.

So let me first start off by saying that I was very excited for this game to drop, so I went into GameStop and pre-ordered it once I saw the trailers and screen shots. I am a HUGE fan of the resident evil franchise; i can still remember sneaking into my brothers room and nearly peeing in my pants when i was like 10 playing the first RE and I was hooked on the franchise ever since, but this game is an abomination. This game is nothing like any others of the franchise, which is very disappointing. This game is a knock off of like 80% of the shooters out there, just not as good. The graphics are great and the sound is pretty good, but that's where I felt the positives ended.. The controls are AWFUL and it takes entirely too many bullets to kill people and less than a half dozen for you to go down. Maybe my expectations were too high or I was hoping for something else, but I wish I had my 59.99 back. I am hoping RE6 will make up for this retched game. We will see in a few months.
