Red Faction: Guerrilla
this was a pretty sick game not somethin to keep long term though.
Its like a bad version of GTA
Dont get me wrong. this game is very entertaining. but this game lacks alot. all you can pretty much do is destroy stuff, drive around, or shoot people. i find this feeling like a bad version of GTA minus all the fun stuff like eating and hookers and relationships. the online lags like crazy. i play games online all the time but im not sure why but the multiplayer lags badly for me. maybe it just needs a patch or two but when are they coming?. The free roam feature just prolongs things making u drive back and forth. the EDF (or police pretty much) rape the mess out of you. when you think the game is hard enough new units are thrown in and just adds on to the challenge. I would tell people to maybe borrow rent the game. the destruction is great but after like 4 hours it gets old. i am a video game addict usually when i get something fun and new. but with this game there is no wow factor. I wont be turning it in yet until i beat it unless the online gets fixed. decent game but not sure if its worth the $$$
Ver, very good game
When I played this game I didn't know what to expect but once I played the first two misions I was totally hooked. The way the story starts out is in my opinion one of the best. All of the characters each have their own connections to the EDF and that makes it easier to understand their pain because as the main player you also have lost your only faminly on Mars. The controls are easy to understand and memorize which is important in a game like this that has a lot of things to do. I would totally told my friend to play this game but he said it wasn't his cup of tea, and I simply told ihm that it's everbodys cup of tea. The amount of destruction you could cause was simply awesome because that was my favorite part of the game. The different variety of guns they had was another thing that got me hooked. My favorite was the nano gun, followed by the gun that went through walls and anything else. Simply put this game was definetely worth the money I used to pay for it.
Free-roaming destruction-fest & Perfect Gameplay
Starting at a "Safehouse'" area you roam all over either questing (Raids, rescues, escorts, intercepts, search & destroy, demo work, etc...all happen here. NPC's will back you even when NOT in a quest. Game uses a 'Threat/Alert' level and RED = lots of mob aggro (Flying & Hvy Armor). All the world looks great, for a Mars landscape it is nice to free-roam, picking up random quests which will happen to cross your path (Convoys, Escorts, Etc). YOu are not bound to Quest, but u will want to and it will happen even while running around. Weapons are fantastic, you can destroy about everything & the game counters this perfectly with AI that hides around NEW landscape debris & half-destroyed buildings. It is possible to hide away from enemies by tactically breaking sections of walls or simply make your own 'shortcut' with the sledgehammer (Nano Rifle = Favorite). My only complaint is the lack of CO-OP play either online or split screen. If RED FACTION had Co-Op & a 1st person view it would easily rank a PERFECT 10 on all fronts. Graphically it is better on the PS3, my Xbox360 lacks a light shader & I lose some reflection & heat fx. OVERALL this game is a MUST have - No Matter What you will lose track of time, the NEXT Red Faction release (Armageddeon) will be possibly the BEST free-roaming game on PS3 in my opinion. Would like to see it use the Move & Gun!
Not what i expected
The game is nothing like anything i expected, i find it quite repetitive and not to mention when you die you are spawned at a safe house then you have to drive all the way back to the thing you were going to destroy!!! i think also if they allowed you to have more than four weapons considering not all the weapons cause a lot of damage and when you run out of amo you just gotta run for your life. on the plus side though this game is erxtremely addictive as i cant seem to give up, i have nearly broken my controller in the process but once you get a hang of the controls and the crazy mars gravity it kinda gets quite fun, atleast after you liberate the second area. Things get quite hard but i guess the main idea is to make sure you keep your weapons upgraded and make use of all the heavy weapons as the basic weapons dont seem to do much. If you are looking for a game with a lot of gamer time this is the game for you it is just really repetitive!!!!!!
Meant for Destruction
This game is best for its demolition. You can destroy practically destroy anything in sight. You own the Red Planet in this game.
I hope this lives up to the Red Faction name
The original Red Faction was probably the first memorable game I purchased and played through on my PS2. The graphics were incredible, the fun factor was through the roof and the game engine was truly original and imaginative (see GeoMod technology). The second Red Faction game was bigger, better and quicker. The most significant improvements would've been the voice acting and the use of a mech. Very cool stuff. However, with all that great experience behind me, I am skeptical about the new game. First off, it's not completely in third-person view whereas the original games were first-person shooters. Second, the GeoMod technology has been reduced to where you can no longer blow your way through walls and obstacles. This, for me, is very disappointing. The graphics look great but the game may have a little too much of a Grand-Theft-Auto-in-Space vibe for me. Time will tell... I'm hoping my expectations prove me wrong and this game blows me away.
An Excellent Game for an Excellent Franchise
The first Red Faction was a huge dissapointment. The gameplay was horrible the weapons were bad. But Red Faction 2 hardly picked up where it left off. Great graphics for its time and awesome gameplay. The multiplayer modes were all endless fun. Red Faction Guerilla is adding to the greatness of this Franchise in another way. It is totally different from RF2, but in great fashion. From completely destructible environments to hundreds of seemingly endless missions. Red Faction Guerilla is a no doubt buy for any action game lover. If you dont want to do missions just drive around and take out huge buildings with your rocket launcher. A great game and well worth the money. I can barely put it down long enought to eat. Theres so many different missions and cars and guns that it almost makes the game too cool. You can start a huge battle at any point in the game. Just kill one of the EDF members and BAM. There will be an epic battle in the first 2 minutes of the game. I love this game and hope there will be many more Red Factions that will live up to this game.
Very good game, except a couple things....
This game is great. Revolting against a crooked law enforcement is always fun. The destruction, teaming up with normal miners, the raids against the EDF. The different types of guns are very cool, upgrading hammers and unlocking new weapons for completing guerrilla missions is very cool. Online this game is very fun, and i have yet to experience ANY lag at all. Oh, how i wish this game was co-op able....anyway. My problems with this game. =====> When i'm trying to sneak up on a building, or building full of the EDF, I silently kill one guy who i know was unseen, i still get the yellow light of danger! Where is the stealth? honestly, if a true stealth system was in this game, it'd be an instant classic. Also, when my morale level is up to 100, why is it that when i try any guerrilla mission, the most support i get is like 7 or 8 people? if the morale is 100, why don't 100 guys come to back me up? it only seems logical. if my morale is 50, i still get about 5 red faction team mates....wow. Include a true morale system, a true edf control system, a true stealth system, and this game is flawless.
the best freakin game ever
i love this game its so freaking awesome and it has cheats and its amazing i highly recomend this game to anyone
