Rated 2 out of 5 by from The Worst Rayman Game I have Ever Played Where do I begin? The game has an abominable "points" system for everything you do, and even though the later Origins game has it too, it was far better utilized. The controls are not very good, as during the disco end stage areas, you have to be extremely precise, or you fall to your doom; Sonic Adventure 2 did far better in the controls department than this. That also brings up another thing. There is a complete lack of checkpoints, and while it could be argued that it provides "challenge", it is incredibly ridiculous that I am expected to guide three rockets to three paintings, unlock a gate, and then have to start all over again at the rocket puzzle. The last, and incredibly horrifying final blow is that the original French dialect voices are completely gone, and replaced with English voice acting. Honestly, Rayman 2 did a far better job at everything, including having an extremely powerful, and threatening villain that makes you feel like you are in the game. The sound effects felt recycled from Spongebob Squarepants, and really made the game feel nauseating. This game should have never been made, as it is as bad as I remember it when I rented the game for the Gamecube in 2003, and felt that something wasn't right. I thought that maybe the HD remake would improve upon the 2003 original version(s), and at least have French audio as an option to get that Rayman 2 charm that the N64, PC, and Dreamcast releases had, but only allowed you to turn the dialog volume off, which just mutes characters. Ugh. Thankfully, all of this was fixed with Origins, and Legends. Remember guys, better graphics do not always make a better game; I rest my case.
