Rated 10 out of 10 by Duke/Dartmouth/Georgetown/Vandy This is the best game I've ever played!!
This is the best game ever! If you like basketball this will blow you away. If you don't like basketball, then playing this will get you to like it. It is simply amazing. Let's start with the graphics. Every player looks real (with the exception of some terrible players that you will never put in, so it doesn't matter). Every court and arena looks real, except sometimes they can't use the company's name that sponsors the arena, Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg standing on the court talking. Very realistic looking. The stats are great. My only complaint is that the right analog stick is also shoot, which sometimes you move it and think you're doing a crossover around halfcourt, and it just shoots it, which gets annoying, and also there is no set dunk button, you have to do R2+square to dunk. Last, the Living Rosters is great, so sign up for online if you haven't so it updates EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Get this game, it's the best of NBA games ever.

Ok, first of all I've played the demo before playing the game on PS3, and I thought the game was excellent. The graphics were amazing and overall it was cool and I hadn't even got to the main features yet. Then I bought the game and found it was awesome. The player detail and design was so specific it was real. I didn't find the problems that others found with the controls. I found the players during the game reacting perfectly to their surrounding with no "invisible force" pushing the when they were driving in. The reality of the game is amazing. I can't find another game where you can actually recognize who the players are without look at their jersey. I though NBA Live was a fluke compared to this game. The set up of the game was better than average with the main menu screen, the game organization, etc. After reading all the negative reviews you shouldn't be discouraged in purchasing this game. If you aren't sure you could always try the demo game. But, don't get me wrong my opinion may flare your most favourite game purchased by far.

This year 2k9 is the best basketball game out again. They always put quality and realism into their games. You can't beat all the new moves, improved low post movements, lay ups, dunks, blocks, rebounds and so on. I played Live 09 and NBA 09. Both of those games don't stack up to this game. 2k9 is way ahead of the competition with this game. Live does have one thing going for it and it's their in-game DNA and NBA 09 has their storyline within the game. Other than those two small factors there's no reason to not want 2k9. I can't wait to start dominating people online. Oh I know we will see somebody report that they think this game looks just like the last one. They did keep last year's concept and built from there. To me that's a good thing. If you see too many major changes it makes you not want to play it because you have to re-learn the games all over again like it's a new game just hitting the market.

This game was a big disappointment for me. First of all I'm an ex-live fan that switched to nba 2k series in 2007 and the main disappointment is that they really screwed up the online aspect of the game. First they removed the lobbies so when u challenge someone, u have to play someone at random. This really sucks because you have to spend anywhere from a half hour or more trying to play an online game. They took away the ability to rate the player after the game. You can't play with the 2k camera view anymore which I thought was the best view. You are forced to shoot free throws using the right analog stick (which I hate). Basically playing online sucks, so don't buy this game if u liked the online play of nba2k8. What is the only good thing about this game is the fact that they rank players on a weekly basis, but I don't think it's entirely accurate since you can't choose who u play.

This game is truly incredible. Gameplay is very fluid and gives you a real-like feel. Driving down the lane, pulling up for the J, is all done in a real-like feel! No knock on Live09, but NBA 2K9 is just an all around better game. Once again Live gives you that arcade feel. You have to use strategy in NBA2k9. I am using the Hawks in Association mode and was getting beat on man to man D. I went to a 1-3-1 zone and was able to get back in the game. This is hands down the best basketball game ever created. I also love the player's facial features, which seems to have gotten better from last year. The crowd reaction has also been enhanced. My man Joe Johnson hit a three that silenced the crowd, you gotta love it! The game has a really nice flow to it to the point you'll want to slam it down on Tim Duncan but be careful you'll be hit with a charge! THIS GAME IS SO SWEET! GOOD JOB GUYS!
Rated 8 out of 10 by Exodusdoomsday The most honest review ever.
On NBA 2K9 the graphics took an enormous step forward, showing the real detail to the players. But when it comes to the actual gameplay you can not help but to feel cheated when you are unable to make a majority of shots inside the paint getting stopped easily as if the computer knows the exact shot you are making and the exact time when you will make it and "surprisingly" blocks you, or when you are wide open trying to make the three and it takes 14 times to actually drain one from beyond the arc wide open or with a hand in your face. Also the lobbies have been taken out which is another bust for me because I liked the fact that you could challenge others inside a lobby and not have to wait. While the gameplay and minor details may present a problem to the longtime fans of the NBA 2k series, it still is worth it to play with your friends and against people online. While I am disappointed with this years game, and Next year I hope 2K revamps the whole gameplay aspect in terms of shooting the ball inside the paint and outside the arc and manages to fix these problems and then I will give them the score that they deserve.

Phenomenal game play & graphics. NBA2K9 has revitalized the 2K brand. Brief updates: Modifications have been made on defensive lockdowns. Enhancements were made on shot selections. The game speed has picked up making the game twice as exciting. Legacy modes are above and beyond any hoops game in recent history. A definite purchase a your local video store. My only concern is the discontinuation of College Hoops 2k9. Handsdown the greatest College Hoops series of all time. 2k along with EA have crippled the avid college hoop fans from importing college players into NBA2k9. EA, won't even come close to fielding a College Hoops game worthy of comparison with the College Hoops 2k Series. Goodtymes. Keep the sporting world in tune with ground breaking news. Rating 5 Stars. If your contemplating NBA 2k9 vs EA's NBA Live. Get the biggest bang for your buck: NBA2K9

2k9 is a great basketball game. The gameplay feels so real as if you were really at the game. The camera angle options are great i reccomend 2k though. And it actually gives you some what of a challenge. The statistics are accurate and there are trade updates. The interface can get annoying at times. When you do the replay editor it's just not even worth it. The animations are very real. They have just about everyones jumpshot, free throw, and dunk very real. One thing that was also annoying was that i was creating a player and it seems that they won't show up on quick game. It has the all star teams from today to back in the day. Michael Jordan and charles barkley aren't on here because of the fact they don't want to have anything to do with it. However the jordan team is on here. The game is overall a great game and also very addicting
Rated 10 out of 10 by superhappy999 Amazingly Awesome Game!!!!
This is the best basketball game on the market for any system. It has all you can ask for. The graphics are amazing, the controls are simple enough for newcomers, yet challenging enough for veterans, extremely accurate live rosters and stats, and the interface makes the game be super realistic. I played the game and it was so realistic that I felt like I was right there. You can see down to every last bead of sweat with the graphics, and they look clearer than real life. If you think NBA Live 09 or NBA 09: The Inside is better, you have issues. I felt like I was in basketball heaven while playing this game. For beginners, the controls are simple enough and will allow fun gaming. For the more serious player, the control will allow a deep gameplay. You will be addicted to this game like you'll be addicted to nicotine.

I couldn't believe when i even got it that it would be this good i didn't realize that the game play would be so interactive the things you can do in this game and the things you have to really know to play this game is amazing the gameplay the graphics the sound of the arenas the look of the court to tell the truth I don't really know how they will top this game at all their are very few glitch and loop holes and the way the game play is, is perfect but for now i have the honor of playing a game that is nothing but real game play and a game that is pretty much under the radar of the best basketball game out their basically if you don't know how to play basketball in real life and if you don't you will be very disappointed in the way you can't score with just one player the whole game and 2K10 I will be waiting for!
