Rated 10 out of 10 by enriquez16 The Amazing Race!
This game puts the "awe" in Awesome! First, the vehicle selection has been upgraded to include crotch rockets, dirt bikes, ATV's, choppers, race cars, tuner cars, monster trucks, mud pluggers, big rigs, super cars, race trucks, dune buggies, super bikes, and more. You'll be racing these vehicles through a variety of extreme weather, such as heavy thunderstorms, and tornadoes to earthquakes and fire. Buildings will collapse and tracks will fall out from under you creating new paths and shortcuts with every lap around the track. The AI is smart and will try to run you off the course or knock you off your bike. The racing is fierce and competitive. Up to 16 players can compete online, and it has a 2 player split screen local multiplayer option as well. While the story elements are not necessary, I like the comic art style and they don't detract from the gameplay. You can just skip pass them if you'd rather get straight to the racing.

First of all I am soiled by the perfection of Pacific Rift....
second, this is still a motorstorm game
it doesn't allow you to choose even between two different types of vehicles like in pacific rift so the vehicle you are worst at you are forced to use until you barely make it by....The the camera shake to give the feel of an earthquake only serves to impair you vision and mislead you as to which direction you are exactly going... talk about impairing vision.... half the time you can barely see the track or your opponents due to huge amounts of debris... half of my crashes were my own fault .. the other half however were unforeseen hazard in the road or due to earthquake shifting causing hazards that you could not see or predict and therefore could not avoid.... I will always keep pacific rift and am going to buy the first one again to make myself happy once more... so i can actually see the track and enemies...

This game is overall fair but the cons it has outnumbered the pros. You cannot unlock new vehicles offline which is rare for a PS3 game. This is unfair for those who dosen't have a PlayStation Account. There are little gaps and bumps that makes me wonder how I managed to crash. Like a small divider. I try to go to the middle by going over the edge and I crash, just like that. Before the finish line with someone beside you, there is a cinematic view pointing at the enemy which is great if there wasn't anything in front of you. This is a big problem especially for the singleplayer demo track: Mainline, which has the finish line under a bridge that becomes destroyed when it is in the last lap or less. And the story is a bit short and you unlock comics which seems to be impossible to brag about online and when your done, all you earn are th story all over again. Nothing for online, No cars, no decorations, no liveries, nothing. Unlike Black ops, it is impossible to like this game without an online account. These are major cons that I hope it will be fixed and updated.
Rated 9 out of 10 by RiseoftheMike MotorStorm the big A.
This game requires skill, timing, and a good memory. Casual gamers will have a blast but the truth is that this is a game for the hardcore. If you hated previous Motorstorm games, you'll not like this one. But if you love them or haven't tried one yet, this is the one, this is the big one.
It's got varied courses, massive destruction, and a ton of stuff to unlock and try out. This game isn't for the feint of heart either, it will test your endurance and you may break a few controllers in the process. This game has never been about the controls, which work fine but are a bit touchy. It has alway's been about the crash and high octane moments.
The cut scenes, that play out in comic book form, might be considered a little campy. But it's fun to watch and you get a sense of who these guy's are and what they're doing in the soon to be lost city.
It's not perfect, but it's close to perfection for the Motorstorm brand and what they are initially trying to accomplish. I recommend it to anyone that loves arcade racers and wants to see what kind of destruction can be seen in this world.
Rated 0 out of 10 by PhantomOfPanton Motorstorm, one of the best racing series this gen
Motorstorm is a great racing series that is new to this generation, and only for the PS3, PS2, and PSP. It first set race on launch day for the PS3 in 2006. It received 8's and 9's on a scale of 10. The sequel improved in all ready great game, and got more 9's. A PSP/PS2 game, Artic Edge, came out last year and also got reviews in the 9's. Obviously the series is well developed, and there is no doubt that "Motorstorm Apocalypse" will get great reviews. This game takes Motorstorm to all new areas, cities, wastelands, anywhere you'd want to race in an apocalypse will be here! Tons of new vehicles, awesome graphics, 3D support, and environments getting destroyed! Motorstorm Apocalypse is the next best racing game, and its ONLY for PS3. If you haven't picked up a PS3 yet, you will want too soon! 2011 will be an amazing year!
Rated 9 out of 10 by obenner BEST RACING GAME AROUND
Although some hardcore previous motorstormers would disagree, this game is awesome! The handling, the graphics and the flow of the vehicles have been greatly improved from the previous versions. There are options that the previous motorstorm games do not have. You can customize vehicles and you can create your own version of the game as well, in whatever fashion you want. You can still wreck and punch people off their bikes. You can still do boost explosions to push other vehicles in a different direction to possibly wreck them. Downsides to this game: You do get server issues, and occasionally there are some software glitches, but the overall experience of this racing game compared to others are great. Other racing games I tend to get bored with fast, but not this one. I highly recommend you giving it a try.
Rated 6 out of 10 by AirPumper MS and MS:PR were better
I found the game way to easy, I finished in 2 days and found about 80% of the cards without looking, MS and MS:PR were both much harder and more to my liking than this version, the other 2 games had jumps that made my stomach quiver on some of the more epic jumps, this game only had 1 jump on all of the tracks that brought my stomach up. Some of the tracks are fun though, and having all of the different routes gives it a little diversity, but it also does wear out pretty fast, and then I was off to another game in less than a week, thats what always gets low marks from me is a lack of longevity in any game and the only racing game I finished faster than this game was "Sonic and Sega: ASR" It should have been better I think?.
Rated 1 out of 10 by sdcode3driver What a disappointment ....
I have always been a big fan of the Motorstorm Series. The first Motorstorm is what convinced me to by my PS3. I was so impressed by the arcade game play, and open terrain that allowed me to choose my own path in order to win the race. I am so saddened to say that all the things that made the first two games in the series amazing and fun were forgotten with Apocalypse. They tried too hard to have a story by merging together poorly animated cut scenes with low budget voice overs. The graphics are horrible and choppy.. The game play itself is very frustrating, and I lost count of how many invisible walls I hit. The AI is poorly designed making the races very boring. Save your money for something else.
Rated 6 out of 10 by poopywar29 Very disappointing game.
When I first saw this I thought this game looked awesome. Environmental destruction who doesn't like that? The graphics were pretty good but I don't think good graphics make a good game. There weren't that many new type of vehicles which was sad. There are a couple problems that annoyed the first one was being in the air it's hard to make it I would go top speed with my boost and still won't make it I always hit the edge and fall. The other thing that really got on my nerves was in one race I was in first place almost crossed the finish line and the camera made me look back for some reason and I crashed. Another thing is the story it sucked there really isn't one but they tried to put one in and that failed you have to watch the stupid graphic comic cut-scenes thank goodness you can skip them because they were embarrassing to watch. I hate playing a racing game and holding down R2 to accelerate but you can change the controls to X as accelerate and R2 as the boost which is cool. Now for the online. Lets start with the pros you can play split-screen online. It's fun to place bets. Now for the cons. They took out the environmental destruction. I can't believe they took that out. That was their selling point for this game and they took it out. I would rather play Split/Second because that is a better game. This is the worst game in the franchise. Overall 6.3
Rated 9 out of 10 by jt33396 THIS GAME IS NUTS!
this is a cool way to have a party at the end of the world. i loved the earthquake. the customization options makes up for the lack of vehicles, but with three DLC's offering three or more cars , the number should rise. even during hectic moments the game's frame rate almost never slows down and looks clean. i hated the fact that they did motion comic. horrible, horrible scenes during story mode, your better off skipping them. online will keep you occupied so the appeal go way up. i give it a 9.5 out of ten, but the scale doesn't let me go to .5 DX
