Motorstorm, one of the best racing series this gen
Motorstorm is a great racing series that is new to this generation, and only for the PS3, PS2, and PSP. It first set race on launch day for the PS3 in 2006. It received 8's and 9's on a scale of 10. The sequel improved in all ready great game, and got more 9's. A PSP/PS2 game, Artic Edge, came out last year and also got reviews in the 9's. Obviously the series is well developed, and there is no doubt that "Motorstorm Apocalypse" will get great reviews. This game takes Motorstorm to all new areas, cities, wastelands, anywhere you'd want to race in an apocalypse will be here! Tons of new vehicles, awesome graphics, 3D support, and environments getting destroyed! Motorstorm Apocalypse is the next best racing game, and its ONLY for PS3. If you haven't picked up a PS3 yet, you will want too soon! 2011 will be an amazing year!
The Amazing Race!
This game puts the "awe" in Awesome! First, the vehicle selection has been upgraded to include crotch rockets, dirt bikes, ATV's, choppers, race cars, tuner cars, monster trucks, mud pluggers, big rigs, super cars, race trucks, dune buggies, super bikes, and more. You'll be racing these vehicles through a variety of extreme weather, such as heavy thunderstorms, and tornadoes to earthquakes and fire. Buildings will collapse and tracks will fall out from under you creating new paths and shortcuts with every lap around the track. The AI is smart and will try to run you off the course or knock you off your bike. The racing is fierce and competitive. Up to 16 players can compete online, and it has a 2 player split screen local multiplayer option as well. While the story elements are not necessary, I like the comic art style and they don't detract from the gameplay. You can just skip pass them if you'd rather get straight to the racing.
Not as impressive as it looks...
This game is overall fair but the cons it has outnumbered the pros. You cannot unlock new vehicles offline which is rare for a PS3 game. This is unfair for those who dosen't have a PlayStation Account. There are little gaps and bumps that makes me wonder how I managed to crash. Like a small divider. I try to go to the middle by going over the edge and I crash, just like that. Before the finish line with someone beside you, there is a cinematic view pointing at the enemy which is great if there wasn't anything in front of you. This is a big problem especially for the singleplayer demo track: Mainline, which has the finish line under a bridge that becomes destroyed when it is in the last lap or less. And the story is a bit short and you unlock comics which seems to be impossible to brag about online and when your done, all you earn are th story all over again. Nothing for online, No cars, no decorations, no liveries, nothing. Unlike Black ops, it is impossible to like this game without an online account. These are major cons that I hope it will be fixed and updated.
Day One Buy
I have read and seen a lot about this game, and Im sold. Im getting it on day one.
I have been a fan of this series for a long time and this one looks better than all the other ones.
MotorStorm the big A.
This game requires skill, timing, and a good memory. Casual gamers will have a blast but the truth is that this is a game for the hardcore. If you hated previous Motorstorm games, you'll not like this one. But if you love them or haven't tried one yet, this is the one, this is the big one.
It's got varied courses, massive destruction, and a ton of stuff to unlock and try out. This game isn't for the feint of heart either, it will test your endurance and you may break a few controllers in the process. This game has never been about the controls, which work fine but are a bit touchy. It has alway's been about the crash and high octane moments.
The cut scenes, that play out in comic book form, might be considered a little campy. But it's fun to watch and you get a sense of who these guy's are and what they're doing in the soon to be lost city.
It's not perfect, but it's close to perfection for the Motorstorm brand and what they are initially trying to accomplish. I recommend it to anyone that loves arcade racers and wants to see what kind of destruction can be seen in this world.
Intense doesn't even start to describe this game. It's epic. Driving a super bike at breakneck speeds while the ground is collapsing and shooting up around you with 15 other racers at once is truly epic. It's the best racer of the year! 10/10!
not like the first two.
First of all I am soiled by the perfection of Pacific Rift....
second, this is still a motorstorm game
it doesn't allow you to choose even between two different types of vehicles like in pacific rift so the vehicle you are worst at you are forced to use until you barely make it by....The the camera shake to give the feel of an earthquake only serves to impair you vision and mislead you as to which direction you are exactly going... talk about impairing vision.... half the time you can barely see the track or your opponents due to huge amounts of debris... half of my crashes were my own fault .. the other half however were unforeseen hazard in the road or due to earthquake shifting causing hazards that you could not see or predict and therefore could not avoid.... I will always keep pacific rift and am going to buy the first one again to make myself happy once more... so i can actually see the track and enemies...
this game is great! it is kind of short but still a great game. the graphics are incredible and the falling tracks and stuff like that is great, it creates new paths and shortcuts. i just bought the first motorstorm. although the first motorstorm is good. it doesn't compare to apocalypse in game play or graphics. i really don't know what all these bad reviews are all about, because the game is great!
AWESOME IN EVERY WAY
this game is out of this world. Monster trucks in a tornado, bikes on top of unstable skyscraper this game reached the apex of awesome.
