Midway Arcade Origins
This is a great game full of classic titles worth hours and hours of nostalgic fun. Perfect for parties or just casual gamers, Midway Arcade Origins features numerous classic arcade games that will have you remembering the days of pumping quarters into the old machines,
A great collection of retro video games
This isn't the first Midway collection I had. The Williams collection I had for Windows XP didn't work for Windows 7. I'm glad to have a great replacement. There are 30 games to the collection. While they are branded under the Midway name, some of the games in the collection were branded as Williams or Atari.
All of the Williams games are on the disk. They appear to be set for the hardest settings possible. Unlike previous Williams games, this one doesn't allow you to change the cabinet settings. Most of you who are hardcore Williams game players know how difficult they can be to play. It was nice to see APB in the collection. I wish Paperboy wasn't missing (the advertisements for it are on the game as well). The eight bit graphics are sharp on an HDTV screen. The game does accommodate the original monitor sizes to scale making the games play just like they did 30 years ago.
It is nice to have a less violent game to play in the collection. There just isn't enough space themed games to play these days.
List of Games
720°, A.P.B., Arch Rivals, Bubbles, Championship Sprint, Tournament Cyberball 2072, Defender, Defender 2, Gauntlet, Gauntlet 2, Joust, Joust 2, Marble Madness, Pit-Fighter, Rampage, Rampart, Robotron 2084, Root Beer Tapper, Sat*n's Hollow (had to censor it to post this lol), Sinistar, Smash TV, Spy Hunter, Spy Hunter 2, Super Off Road, Super Sprint, Toobin', Total Carnage, Vindicators Part 2, Wizard of War, Xenophobe, Xybots. So not bad, overall. I have a few grips about it, however. 1. The collection should've been rated M so we could get some more great games like NARC and Mortal Kombat II. 2. Not much different than the other collections. 3. Some of the games on here are mediocre or even terrible in my opinion (Pit-Fighter is probably the worst on the collection to me). Overall, though, I think it'll be worth $30 since that's roughly 95 cents per game and 4 credits in an actual machine!
I grew up playing MIDWAY ARCADE games. This is a collection that really brings back memories of the good old days of being in the arcade room spending quaters gamimg. DEFENDER 1 & 2, GUANTLET 1 & 2, ROBOTRON, SPY HUNTER 1 & 2 and ROOT BEER TAPPER are jusat a few games that are on here. If anyone has ever played theres games then you already know what I'm talking about. This is a must have for your collection. If ever you want to kick back and play some old school games then this collection is for you. Enjoy.
