by TheBurningPunch Metal Gear Action is a better word
metal gear as a action game is a major difference in the series and IMO,it needs a change.I would feel that kojima is experimenting to see if a hack in slash metal gear would be worth it.

by Noba Mgs for 360? why?
most of the 360 players wouldn't know about the mgs series, ie, they dont know anything about Raiden, and they dont deserve to play it -.- go back to halo
Rated 8 out of 10 by Vahn The true meaning of "spin off"
First let me start of by saying DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME WITH THE EXPECTATION OF METAL GEAR SOLID. The game is honestly a great game, but also defines the meaning of a spin off game. The game plays very much like Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Devil May Cry, Etc. Metal Gear Rising is perfect for action gamers, as it does not focus heavily on the story as the Metal Gear Solid Series does, but rather the action sequences. The game may get a little difficult at times, but usually shifts from hard to easy at times. Again, a great game, but do not expect much of Metal Gear Solid to reach this game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Staples201 THE MOST DISTINGUISHED OF 2013
As the title implies, this game is the best of 2013, and personally the best game since Uncharted 2. Graphics are other-world like with extreme detail in the pupils of Raiden's eyes to the color in the torrent of waterfall. This game can be played many, many times after it is done; at least 3 times. (excluding first) and the length is to praise as well: 9-12 hours long. The gameplay is extremely fresh and beckoning to the player, slice and dicing is as new as ever. Even though stealth action is not the main focus there are a few elements, and the new format is very fun and it does not feel repetitive or prosaic, however attention is piqued, Music and voice acting are top notch with overwhelming reality, as the music has a very catchy beat. Only problem is the peculiar camera focus when triggered blade mode, and one uninteresting boss, but overall this game is a masterpiece. So buy it!
Rated 0 out of 10 by ILoveLexi Could easily be another amazing spinoff.
Looks amazing. Insane graphics. Interesting gameplay. Could really start something. I wasn't happy at first when i found out Kojima wouldn't be a big part of it, and they would make it more of a spinoff, using Rising instead of Solid. However, if they could make more of this kind of game, with a storyline and all, in the future; totally worth it. Also to the fact that Metal Gear Solid 5 is in thought, that then makes this game seem even more amazing. Raiden is absolutly sick, and I cannot wait to play my personal favorite character. It may not be the usual Stealth game we are used to in the Metal Gear series, but something new won't hurt. I can't wait to play this game. It seems AMAZING. If it turns out how they present it to be, then 10/10 already, another great addition to the Metal Gear family. And Metal Gear Solid 5 will make up for the new genre. I truly cannot wait!

If you're a true MGS fan, you will be buying this as soon as you can. I'm going to put down the full reserve on this within the next few months and will be picking it up on 11.12.12. I don't mind that it is cross platform - in fact, hopefully it opens the eyes of some 360 gamers who enjoy amazing stories and gameplay but have never taken the time to purchase a PS/PS2/PS3. Every single MGS title is worth paying full price for, it is the most amazing gaming chronicle I have ever played and would be surprised if I ever run into another franchise that was so well put together and immersive. This game, as stated, will be 'Lightning Bolt Action' instead of the classic 'Tactical Espionage Action' which sounds enticing. Also, this is about Raiden's story between Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - not 3 & 4 as someone previously stated. Hideo Kojima is also still in the works with this title, so I won't be surprised if we see some characters we otherwise would not expect to see in this game. It is going to be a slasher game, but do not forget that it will most certainly have an amazing storyline.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Chris2z Kojima passed this off, so shall I
Kojima, the mastermind behind the Metal Gear series, recently announced he was stopping his directing of this game, he handed it over to the people who made "Bayonetta" which doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Kojima is the brains behind the whole series and without him, well, I think the game will flop. Who are half these characters anyways? The guys in suits totally remind me of the Turks from Final Fantasy VII. And that other guy, he looks like a male version of Bayonetta. I like having new characters, but every single character is new, including the voices on the com! A few characters, sure, but this is just Raiden. How will it fit in the storyline? We'll have to wait and see. Anyways, this MAY be the worst game in the Metal Gear series due to the fact that Kojima quit, but we won't know till it is released.
Rated 0 out of 10 by HardcoreGamer10 Doesn't Flow or Seem to Have a SOLID Storyline...
Every Metal Gear Solid game I have ever played (and trailer I have seen), all seem to be action packed, eloquent, almost poetic with a GENIUS movie-like storyline to it (which I don't see here yet). Every scene flows smoothly and perfectly together with with one another (the genius of Kojima). The graphics are always groundbreaking, the replay value high, the overall gameplay and style of the game is stealth/strategy packed. Perfection would more than fit the description, but not even the name of the game seems to have taken more than a minutes worth of thought to put together! The trailer seems like an arcade style game (no stealth whatsoever or beautiful graphics here). So overall, I would LOVE to be wrong about this game as I was looking forward to it for the longest time!! But the trailer doesn't seem very promising to me at least. I mean the whole freaking trailer was spent with Raiden just freaking cutting people up with his sword!! Where is the genius, stealth or strategy in that? You might as well save some time and just go pick up MW3 or Battlefield 3 if you're just looking to cut/kill people like crazy! All in all...I hope I get proven wrong BIG TIME!!!
Rated 9 out of 10 by JuviaxGray Better than you think
Metal gear solid is a franchise of stealth, but metal gear rising is in a different league. This is a spin off series and isn't to be compared to the stealth feature the other MGS games have to offer. In its own category of hack and slash it holds up really well. The game play is almost flawless because of the occasional slow down when you cut the enemies in a million pieces. The blade mode works out really well and is easy to master. A few things could be improved for game play such as having the ability to stay in AR mode at all times. It makes you feel like a cyborg and it helps you find collectibles and would make things easier. Another is the story it stays on one track but isn't very long. The sound is amazing, the music that plays gets you pumped to kill any enemy you see and isn't annoying to hear over and over again. I'm not one to rate something on how it looks but the environment it a nice thing to look at and you wont be paying attention to it as much as you will be looking at your enemies try to fight with no legs. Lastly this game is a hack and slash and with enjoying game play leaves this with a pretty high replay value. so with that i give MSR:R a 9/10
Rated 9 out of 10 by xJoshx This game is just amazing..
This game i would say is one of the best games ever. There are plenty of games that do not leave a good first impression on people. This game is just simply amazing from the start. The graphics (which some people care about) are just simply amazing. you can customize yourself and learn new skills as well to make your overall game play better. The only reason why i gave this game a 9/10 is because of the camera. you can not lock on to anyone and a lot of times the camera can get annoying. But in my opinion you can just simply center the camera view and it will be OK. Other than that, This game has to be one of the best action games ever. YES YES YES i definitely will recommend this game to anyone who likes playing action games. and as well to other metal gear solid fans. Money well spent with this game.
