Product Details:

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory by focusing on delivering an all-new action experience unlike anything that has come before.. Combining world-class development teams at Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, MGR REVENGEANCE brings two of the world's most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. The game introduces Raiden as the central character; a child soldier transformed into a half-man, half-machine cyborg ninja, equipped with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fueled by revenge.

In the near future, cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large Private Military Companies', or PMC's, that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organizations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC Maverick Security', Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past, and carving through anything that stands in his way.

Key Features:

  • The latest METAL GEAR console experience featuring an all-new style of frenetic action gameplay and central character, Raiden, a cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!
  • New game design, the birth of a new type of MG experience: Combining development powerhouses Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames together, MGR REVENGEANCE will offer a fast & fluid game style centered on katana-based combat within the METAL GEAR universe.
  • Advanced technology: Produced by a hybrid team of renowned developers, the in-game technology promises to push the boundaries of graphics, style and lightning-speed action gameplay.
  • ZanDatsu' cut mechanic: Within the game world, players will be able to take advantage of what has been created - "an all-encompassing cutting plane in real time". Cut anything, anytime, anywhere.
  • Epic story in the vein of what MG is known and loved for: The game takes place after the events of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 where the world has fallen into chaos with cyborg crimes & terrorism running rampant in society. Delves into the continuing story of Raiden, a child-soldier turned cyborg ninja who's origins are connected to both METAL GEAR SOLID 2 and METAL GEAR SOLID 4.

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 7.75 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The true meaning of "spin off" First let me start of by saying DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME WITH THE EXPECTATION OF METAL GEAR SOLID. The game is honestly a great game, but also defines the meaning of a spin off game. The game plays very much like Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Devil May Cry, Etc. Metal Gear Rising is perfect for action gamers, as it does not focus heavily on the story as the Metal Gear Solid Series does, but rather the action sequences. The game may get a little difficult at times, but usually shifts from hard to easy at times. Again, a great game, but do not expect much of Metal Gear Solid to reach this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jack's Back! Looks like Jack is back and ready to kick some more but in this hack and slash game! My cousin introduced me to this game and I immediately fell in love with it and went and bought it the next day. The game's graphics are stunning and the music is perfect, I wouldn't chose any other set of songs. The game is truly for hardcore gamers and it was worth finishing in one sitting. There were also several unexpected scenes which kept me wanting more and made me sit at the edge of my seat. I've heard there was going to be another revengence game and I'm so looking forward to it. One of my favorite games, hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG AWSOME!!!!! Omg that game is so cool even though I am only a girl and 14 years old I love raiden no matter what happened. Those cutscenes were pretty intense even the one when raiden's eye and arm were cut off!!!! I don't have the game but I love how it goes than the other games. I have got to get this as so as I have the money I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from AMAZING!! This is one of the best MGS games I have ever played aside from MGS2 and Peacwalker. It has an exciting story line witch I personally enjoy and would recommend this to anyone who would just sit in front of the TV and play games 24/7! Grafics are awesome, voice actresses fit well with their characters and is just very fun. I love it and hopefully you guys will too. My only complaint is that the game isn't so good when it comes to weapon variety. It mostly focuses on your sword and kind of forgets about your secondary like grenades, rpgs, etc. Other than that, thumbs up to this one!!! :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Just a Good Game... ...but a very solid political awareness. Covers the recent events and atrocities of "war on terror" pretty well. Few things that bothered me about this game is the inability to block or dodge attacks promptly, that makes the Boss battles especially, a bit frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Hack N Slash fans and MGS fans I was close to finishing MGS 4 when I heard about Metal Gear Rising. I looked into it and found out it was more than a Hack N Slash than stealth. I decided since MG - MGS4 were good I'll give it a shot so I pre-ordered it. When I finished it was very pleased with this game. The Story: Metal Gear Rising's story is not as intense like Solid, but I'm very glad they fit someone from Solid that we're familiar with like Raiden as the main character. The story itself does get confusing at times, but it makes sense later on in the game. Even though Raiden failed to satisfy us in MGS2, MGRR redeems Raiden's failed debut. Gameplay / Graphics: The Gameplay in MGRR does satisfy with the sword fighting and crazy boss battles, but there are times if your an MGS fan you'll want to try and sneak past an enemy. That causes a lot of frustration in VR Missions and story mode because the game doesn't have the right moves to sneak around like crouch, crawl, wall-press, or corner view, making stealth very complicated, but the old cardboard box will help you sneak in story mode. The Graphics are very crisp and realistic for both CG cutscenes and gameplay. Lasting Appeal: MGRR can keep you going even after the story with VR Missions, Bladewolf, Jetstream, and VR DLC and replaying parts of the story to up your weapons or buy costumes. Overall: Metal Gear Rising is a good start for a breakaway from the stealth of MGS. MGRR does have some MGS Easter eggs to satisfy fans. The gameplay was good, but they needed to make stealth easier or not put any stealth at all. The Graphics were fantastic. The story does have good story writing, but it's not Kojima's writing, and MGS elements like Raiden and the PMCs or the cyborg ninja concept does keep the MG name. The Lasting appeal is high and it entertains long after the game ends. This game is really satisfying overall, just a few bugs that could be avoided in the first place. I look forward to a sequel
