Major League Baseball 2K12
Baseball made fun again
I really like this edition of 2k baseball this year. I had 2k10 then switched last year and bought MLB11 because I would hear of how much better its gameplay was. I liked MLB11 for its graphics and realism. However that was just its main problem it was too real plus the in game commentary was always boring and repeatitve at times. I also had a major problem with The Show's franchise mode with trying to develop talent in my minor leagues and online game play. The Show series makes it too hard to play baseball for gamers that really know the sport so I can imagine the fustration for a gamer that doesnt. I decided to go back to what I thought was fun to play. 2k12 doesnt have MLB type graphics or play but it truly makes up in gaming experience, tv broadcast presentation, more up to date & accurate stats in season. I suggest 2k12 for casual gamers & baseball heads that want to have fun. If you want true baseball then I can not lie your better suited for The Show but dont sleep on 2k baby.
MLB THE SHOW VS. MLB 2K
First of all I really like this game for 360 but I'm getting it for PS3 this year. I have both MLB the show and MLB 2K. The show's trading system is crazy by the CPU performing trades that dont even make any sense what so ever, also in the off-season you have players requesting 20M a year and that isnt realistic what so ever. 2k has an overall better system to me by scouting players to actual realistic season stats (no one is hitting over 60 HR a year). Their contracts on that game are also alot better. 2k may not look as realistic but I'll sacrifice a little bit graphics for a better all franchise mode. I mean come on graphics dont mean that much to me. ITS A VIDEO GAME. lol
The 2k series is no where near the baseball simulation that MLB the Show is. However I am a big fan of the 2k baseball series. I have played the show a ton over the last three years and I have begun to get a little bored with the game. The 2k gameplay is so much quicker and although it may not be as realistic it is quite fun. I also like how much better the stats are on the 2k series. One more thing that 2k does better than the show is they have a simple way to evaluate prospects on franchise mode, and the you can actually see player improvements while playing franchise mode. I may be the only ps3 owner to buy 2k first, but I think I just may.
Don't listen to the reviews
this is my favorite baseball game my second fav sports game this has awesome graphics the sound is like the game is in your room and the overall gameplay is perfect what ever you do dont get the show its sucks its way too easy like press x for a fast ball what the heck dont buy a easy game 2k12 will entertain you for life trust me (ALSO LIKE THIS REVIEW IF YOU LIKE THE YANKEES) so those other reviews just simply ignore them they just want you to buy a bad game so they get bad likes so they get more popular.
Just an Average Game
Sorry but this in no way can compare to The Show. If you want to play a real baseball game Buy MLB The Show.
i think it is an excellent game if you have a passion for baseball it is a must get i think it gives a good experience and alot of fun
Pretty Good To Me!!
Seems like a lot of people are writing poor reviews for this game. I played both the new MLB games, and as far as being enjoyable, 2k12 is better! The batting on this game is WAY better than that on The Show. I dont need a bunch of over-complicated controller movements top fall in line, just to hit a ball! 2K12 is way better!
"The Last Year" has returned
Was the complete bashing of this title not enough for 2K studio to realize last year? They updated the roster and some ratings of players who had break out years and released the same game as last year. swinging is skippy and sometimes glitches up. The throwing meter is ok i guess. The fielders never want to come up throwing so if there is a fast baserunner who is trying to stretch it to the next base is gonna get there cause your outfielder isnt to worried about stopping the run. 2K is worried about the "cut scenes" , if you will, and not the actual game. I hit a walk off home run with Curtis Granderson and it glitched the game and had to quit and replay the game, all because the wanted to show the cool fireworks and the pitchers reaction and the replays and the coaches and all that....the games is at best frustrating
Lets be honest...
I have the utmost respect for 2k sports. Top spin and NBA have been some of the greatest sports games we have seen in a while. However I can't understand why this doesn't translate to MLB. The graphics are average at best having its shining highs and dull lows. The animations are not as fluid and unique. The pitch mechanic is incredible but that is about all it has going for it. The modes will be the same this year with little overhaul and stat engines don't count. Gameplay should always be more important. I feel like for the ps3 audience, The Show will be ten times better and will excel in most categories (not pitching). I think 360 gamers will be able to live with this title but with the choice ps3 gamers have... we have to go with the Show.
just quit the series
So, I got a ps3, and thought that I needed a baseball game. I should have gotten the show, but I like the pitching controls in this series, so I got it. First, you can't see any of the pitches, especially the 12-6 curve. Second, the batting control makes half of the swings checked, even if there's perfect timing on a change-up right down the middle of the zone. There's a glitchy feeling when catching the ball and throwing it. when my second baseman fields the ball he usually overthrows it to first, even if the power bar is in the green... I'm never buying another MLB 2k game
