This is the worst madden game ever. I traded it in after the second day. They tried to make it family friendy, that would be great if I wanted to play with my family. I buy madden for franchise mode. You dont even get to choose from a playbook. When I first played when I went to call my fisrt play I had to select my formation and the choices were pass, run, field goal, or something like that. So I thought it must be on easy play or something, I went to options and sure enouph it was on simple play calling so I swithed it to advanced hoping it would give me all the choices madden has always gives me. When I went to the game my formation choices were short pass, long pass, run outside, run inside, somethign like that. This game would be great for kids. If I wanted to buy kids games I would buy a wii. When I played frachise mode I always like to move a team and rename it and change the logo (basicly create a team) but I couldn't. To conclude, this game sucks dont buy it, worst madden game.

First of all, I was excited to get this game. I knew they forced out last year's version to make PS3 fans happy. Obviously, 08 was a terrible mistake. Once I put in this game I immediately noticed the difference in presentation. The graphics of the players were outstanding and moved fluid. The angle takes a little getting used to, but you can pass the rotating camera with a simple press of a button. I played half a game last night and enjoyed it until...the commentary of the game. It was Chris Collinsworth and some other guy who sounded like a robot. I literally couldn't stand the sound of his monotone voice, so I shut the game off and went to bed. Hopefully, there is a way to turn off the commentary because it really ruined the fun for me to have to listen to that man! Other than that, the game looks and plays very well. I'm going to start a dynasty and get used to the game before I try online play. For the most part, this game looks and plays great (if it wasn't for that terrible commentary!).

This game is pretty good. EA still has issues with being able to throw the out pattern. Either you throw the ball too early and it gets picked off, or you throw it too late out of bounds, it's nearly impossible to throw it perfect. Also, with someone as good as Randy Moss or anyone with great speed or height, the deep ball works too easily. I've always complained about the deep ball being too difficult, but this year it's too easy. EA gives too many receivers too good of an advantage, such as James Hardy. Hardy, a 79, can catch a 40 yard plus fade 1 out of 3 times. However, someone such as Randy Moss, can catch it 1 out of 2 times, and maybe a guy like Wes Welker, who is much better than Hardy, will catch it 1 out of 4. And if the defense tries to run a 2 man under, the middle will be wide open. Also, it is IMPOSSIBLE TO RUN THE BALL. 4 out of 5 games with the Bills, Marshawn Lynch will have 26 carries for 54 yards. The gameplay was a huge disappointment this year.

finally after big disappointments madden for the ps3 finally delivers a solid madden....it still has ways 2 go...the things i dont like about madden is the replay button...thats not football....if u throw an interception, u can press replay and do it all over again....no thats not real football, get rid of that for 2010....for all of us that have played it on ps2,....we just wanted them 2 make it just like that.....with the controls and everything.....just betta graphics......i dont like r2 as the sprint button...i was use to x.....when u play all madden its not an all madden game mode to me...the cpu does dumb things suppose when i played all madden on ps2 the cpu would play the right way and alot smarter......dont get me wrong the side angle camera for the kick off looks nice....but it kinda sucks cause it doesnt give u enough time to change the player returning the ball.....bottom line this game is a whole lot betta then 07 08....i just wish ea sports would just make the controls and the gameplay from ps2 and this game would kick .........
Rated 0 out of 10 by bring favre to the jets a good next gen madden game?
I just played the new madden 09 demo. I gotta say I was pretty impressed. The graphics were just amazing and the game play was pretty smooth. The past maddens were terrible. I was playing madden 04 on ps2 while the new ones came out. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be playing the newer games, but yeah, this game's way better from what I played and saw. I just hope the franchise is better and all in all just like the old madden games from old consoles just next gen graphics. One thing I saw of the demo was no on field refs? A little odd. It's such a a simple detail. I wish the people who made mlb the show 08 could have made a football game. I don't know if any of you guys played it, but that game's just so sick has the smallest details that make a world of difference. Well I can't say much now until I actually get the game in my hands, but it looks like it probably will be the best football game as of yet.

I've been playing madden since madden 2004 came out. I know how madden works and everything and this game brings out a whole new thing. Graphics, controls, sounds, new commentators, etc. The iq helps a lot! In the fist couple of games it's seems really easy but then it starts to understand you so it gets to be frustrating later on. The pass protecting offense gets very bad and you get sacked a lot! So this game makes you think quick as a quarterback and run. Things that I hate is that they leave out several players. To get Brett favre you have to go to roster then player management then nfl greats then go look for Brett farve and release him. Then get him as a free agent. Or you go online to play and it will automatically update the roster. So I heard. If you get mad when you make an interception or mess up on something and then quit, don't do that because then you will have a perfect season and wont think that the game is challenging. The rewind option is really useful but I recommend only using one because it's like cheating. I definitely recommend this to a friend.

Most people just do not like this game. Do you wanna know why? Because this game is alot more strategic then all the other maddens. You gotta shift the line to protect your QB call hot routes to get running lanes to open up and send players in motion. I've played madden for at least 7 years and this game makes it harder for me unlike all the other maddens when you can just crush the cpu and just about any team puts up a fight. The madden IQ test is junk though the first game you can play good but then as you go your QB get's sacked like crazy and you get stuffed almost every time on the run no matter what play you call. So make sure to use the custom difficulty settings. The graphics are the best for sure out of every madden. The sound is ok and the Chris does a pretty good job covering the action. This game just feels much more like real football and is so more realistic no more 500 yard passing and 270 running. The only thing i don't like about this game is the learning curve and the madden IQ test other than that EA did a great job. If i could i would give it a 8.5

I was so excited because i sold my ps2 to get a ps3 and knew they still made madden for the ps3 but the controls were different like sprint was r2 instead of the regular x button and the players looked different than the other years of madden which through me off and it just freaked me out. I used to love madden but now everythings different. Their legs were skinnier and they moved funny. Plus I used to be great at Madden but now that everythings different I have to start all over again, they are stupid for changing the best football game ever. Although I hated the game I did like that superstar didnt change because that was good the way they had it. My cousin has the ps2 version and it is great but the ps3 version is terrible so most of the time I want to play madden i have to play it over his house. I hope they change it back or let us switch the controls in the game for next year.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Goog MADDEN 09 IS JUST OK
I wasn't expecting EA to walk on water, but I wanted a solid football game. I've been playing since '91 so the new (read: unecessary) features don't matter to me. Franchise Mode, Superstar mode, backtrack, and AI adaptability are all garbage to me. I just want good graphics and good gameplay with real football strategy. After firing the 09 up (and setting it on the ALL-MADDEN level) I noticed the quirks right away. The CPU is robotically accurate on passing and the pass coverage in the middle is poor much like NCAA 09. The first team I played with were the Philly E's....McNabb is very good in real life, but his videogame counter part struggles to complete the simplest passes as if the CPU makes it happen to cost you a down...or worse. The CPU makes your men drop passes by nailing them after a catch...CPU almost never drops a pass like that. I'm sure that since the next gen programmers now a formula to work with these things will be fixed sooner or later. What I have learned from complaining about the game every year is that no one (besides gamers) is really listening. Bottom line...they gave us a solid game.

Look I'm a very fair critic of madden and yes it looks better, feels better for ps3 but the thing that sucks about the PS3 is that user skills seem to be impossible on the ps3 version. PS2 madden you can click on your receiver and jump up and actually go and get the ball. On defense you can click on a defender while the ball is in the air and actually jump up and pick the ball off but not in ps3 you have to let the comp do all that stuff which sucks. PS3 has always lacked that. Which is why I own a ps3, but always buy the ps2 version. I like to be able to click on my receiver, jump and actually see his feet leave the ground and him go up and get the ball. ps3 you click in he doesn't even jump half of the time. THAT'S WEAK. I have great user skills so that's why I won't be buying madden for ps3. They leave too much up to the computer which I don't like.
