Rated 7 out of 10 by StriderKiwi a little dissapointed
I thought this game would be good. It had alot of good ideas like changing the scenery to a snowy setting (instead of a mostly grey setting that most other shooters use) and the VS units which are mechs are really fun to use, but the game has several problems. the controls are somewhat annoying and they made a stumbling interface similar to that in Brawl which gets really annoying especially when playing online. The story is confusing and a pain to have to watch and the characters have little to no depth. the game also gets really hard at parts of the story line. That being said, the boss battles are really fun. The graphics are decent. In conclusion, i suggest you pass it up and just get Lost Planet 2 when it comes out in several days. I've tried both the demos for it and it looks like it kept all the good qualities from Lost planet 1 and fixed all the problems it had, and also added in some new features that look promising such as cooperative only play for story mode.
Rated 10 out of 10 by gamer3642 Best online
No one is probely going to agree with me on this but this has the best online EVER.I am not allowed to play M games but I know call of duty 4 is better. But out of the games I have played this is the best. The graphics are outstanding. There are a few glitches but that is fine.It has the best story it pulls you in and doesn't let go until you see those credits pop up.The sound is awsome this game is two years old and everything is fantastic. The controlls are easy to learn so that is good.It took me a long time to beat.So I reccomend this to everyone who owns a ps3.Capcom did a excellent job.The online gets really addicting there are a few weird parts.Like how you can run through water.I am a huge first person shooter fan but while playing this I am a third person shooter fan.So buy this you won't be dissapointed.Good luck on searching for games.
Rated 9 out of 10 by chubbawubba great game
this game is definitly worth your time and money. the story is very good, the graphics are decent, and the gameplay is awesome!!!!!!!!!! the length of this game is just right. my favorite mission is actually the second one because you get to fight a giant AV that shoots missiles at you!!! as i said before, the story is very well thought out and well put together.the story really kicks up after mission 2, and just gets better and better. to me, this is the second best third-person game i have ever played!!! I only have one complaint in this entire game. the weapon selection is very low, you pretty much only get a machine gun, shotgun, and rocket launcher. I hope in the sequel [which i am pre-ordering] they have a LOT more weapons in this game. it doesnt need to be call of duty lot of weapons but still. final review 8.75 out of 10
Rated 10 out of 10 by shootersfan Great game!
Lost planet is a really great game and I consider lots of people to buy it. The storyline is excellent and the online is really awesome! There is 2-16 people online and on some places in the online it is not snowing. The game also has great sound and awesome graphics!I'm thinking that this game should be the game of the year and it should be a MUST BUY game. And you can also go underwater in online (but its kind of like a glitch because you only stand, jump, and use rappel). What I mean by its like a glitch is that you stand in water and that cant happen in real life and the bad part is you cannot swim in the water. But there is one problem, All the time when you think one mission is easy there are these stupid small thingies that bug you and they are very annoying.

No one sees the beauty this game so rightly deserves. The story is one of the funnest and most meaningful campaigns I've ever played. I traded this game in a while ago and I definitely mean to buy it again. Not a waste of money at all. I don't see why some people criticize this game so much. It's literally a great game. It pulls you in and makes you feel like you mean something to the snowy wasteland that its set at. So really, the people who talk bad about this game play way too many FPS's and need to expand their range of gaming confidential's. Bottom line, if you want a game with a great campaign, no trophies to worry about, just a fun game to sit and play, then buy this game. This is THE review to follow. Trust me

Very dissapointing. I take into account this game was first released with the next gen consoles and that it was a new step.
Even at the time of its release though the game is very dissapointing. If anything is more than a couple feet or meters away you can't hit it with a machine gun.
Rocket launchers and grenade launchers do little to no damage at point blank range.
You automatically recover health with thermal energy you have gathered and stored.
From a multiplayer standpoint regardless of the ability to only damage enemies within a short distance I can somewhat see the value of the game.
The enemies get hit but you do no damage.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Dinset Bad graphics?! Pshaw
This game most certainly doesn't have bad graphics! When I played it around this time last year I remember thinking it had some of the most cutting-edge graphics I had ever seen. While it was definately not the best game I had ever played, seeing as I didn't even get throught the entire campaign before growing weary of it, I must defend the game's graphical prestige, because that is something it could even spare a bit of. It runs great too, which is always a big plus in the age of poor framerates.
Rated 6 out of 10 by PlatDrone Decent Game with a Fatal Flaw
Lost Planet is in essence Monster Hunter with guns. The gameplay consists of fighting giant alien creatures, shooting the orange spots on them in order to do damage. The game is alright except for the fact that it included a timer mechanic disguised as "thermal energy". This not only adds artifical difficulty but also creates unnecessary tension. The game would much benefit if there were bigger levels to explore, over the linear level design with mediocre bosses.
Rated 0 out of 10 by A Customer In the end, yet another port
After playing through this on the 360, I can safely say "get it" if you haven't played it already. Graphically beautiful, good controls and pacing. The enemy AI was decent and the areas detailed. Keep in mind that sometimes it is better to run than run out of ammo. However, if you have already played this, well you've played it and don't bother with yet just another port from the 360. Longing to see enough good original content on the PS3 to justify the expense.
