Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Good With Faults
Its a decent game especialy fighting alongside a friend or againts one. Also has really good graphics. There missing acouple classes like the dwarves and the goblins. The story doesnt have any depht in it.
This game rocks.
Any fan of star wars: battlefront, lorda of the rings, battlefield, or enemy territory : quake wars will like this game. Lord of the rings conquest is basically battlefront with a midevil feel. challenge:Many diffuculty settings allow all skill levels be able to play. There is also a training mode which is nice. controls: The controls are typically easy to learn. Graphics/animation: I have not seen a single framerate or texture issue. The character sprites are pretty detailed interface: Splitscreen multiplayer works perfectly. My only two wishes in this catagory are for 4 player splitscreen and for ea to put back up the online servers. length: This game has two story modes, one for evil and one for good, both are entertaining and total last for about six hours, depending on difficulty settings. There is also instant action and downloadable add-on content. sound: The sound is awesome. You'll hear bloodcurling shreaks as you slaughter orcs. storyline: I really wish that they added something new tothe story. The cutscenes are parts of the movies which is cool.
One LotR game to Rule Them All
Lord of the Rings: Conquest puts a whole new idea on LotR games. Even with the flow of new next-gen games coming in, this holds its own. Firstly, you play through the game as a regular, normal soldier, instead of a hero, like you would think. You have to hack and slash your way through tons of enemies (up to 150) and try to defend Middle Earth, or conquer it. You can play as 4 different classes: the archer, warrior, scout, and mage. Conquest takes place in the Lord of the Rings universe, just like any other, near the start of the books/films. You can choose either a good campaign, or an evil one. The good campaign follows the books and movies, where you are going from region to region, defending against Sauron's legions of orcs, while the evil campaign has a unique twist. Instead of Frodo succeeding and destroying the ring, he fails, and the evil campaign plays out as if Sauron came to power and is conquering Middle Earth. The graphics are good. They can definitely be compared to recent next-gen games, and the HD looks very nice. My only complaints are the ugly arrow trails and fire effects. Otherwise, the graphics are nice to look at, and enjoy. The environments are very well made, and look stunning. The soldiers are very well detailed, and it's almost like the movies, in a way. The graphics are, simply put, good. Nothing more, and nothing less. The sound of the game is decent. It isn't amazing, nor is it bad. The game's narrator is Hugo Weaving (Elrond) and that helps set the tone before a battle. While the heroes aren't actually voice acted by the real actors, but you can't even tell the difference with the sound-alikes. But the combat sounds aren't that great, in fact, they need some work. The slashes and smacks all sound very similar, and get bland quickly. Also, the repetitive sound effects of all the skills, and the in-game commander shouting commands left and right can get irritating at times. But the music is nice, taken almost directly from the film. The length of the game is great. The campaign modes offer about 10-15 hours of gameplay, easily. Not only that, but you also get "Instant Action" mode, which you can select to jump right into a battle. There's also splitscreen co-op to add some length, and some fun to the game. But with all this single-player fun, you must be wondering: is there online? The answer is a whole-hearted "Yes." There is online, but the online is just awesome. There are several gameplay modes, such as Capture the Ring (Capture the Flag style), deathmatch, conquest mode, Hero Deathmatch, where you play as all the good heroes vs. all the bad heroes in one epic battle. The controls are the game's weakpoint. The controls are not really great, and could use some work, but you can get used to it. It has simple-styled controls (square is light, triangle is medium...) so you will quickly learn, and every class has a few special abilities that are accessed by pressing the L1 button (most of the time) and those attacks should be used in dire situations. The camera can get annoying sometimes, and it's hard to aim in and shoot enemies with a bow sometimes, because of the twitchy controls. Overall, this is a good game. I recommend it to all Lord of the Rings fans, and even people unfamiliar to the series. This will keep you busy for days, and days, and the multiplayer will offer tons of replay.
MY BRAIN EXPLODES WITH GAMING ADRENALINE!!!
This game is completely and totally EPIC BEYOND COMPREHENSION!! Perhaps I'm slightly exagerating, but seriously, this game rocks! You can play through every battlefeild of middle-earth from Osgiliath to Rivendell. In this unique Lord of the Rings game you play as any soldier in any army, such as men, elves, and dwarves,or join the enemy and be an uruk hai or an orc. You can even unlock heroes connected to each seperate location, and not just the obvious heroes like Aragorn, Gimly, or Legolas. You can also fight as Faramir, the Mouth of Sauron, Eowyn, Isildur, and a plethora of others. The gameplay is very similar to Star Wars Battlefront and it even has an instant action setting just like it. This Game is definetely worth the buy, and I wish I had more room to gloat about it.
An unbelievable game
This game is what you call a cant miss, addicting game. I mean seriously, in what other game can you play as a massive elephant, troll, or an ent!!!!??? The graphics are stunning and the environments look completely like they did from the movies. The controls are not fantastic like everything else in this game but after a while they become easy to use and they work well with the game. The storyline is a bit different from the movies but in this game you get to fight in places never in other LOTR games, like The Shire, The Mines of Moria, Minas Morgul, and more! I gave this game a 10 in length because although both of the single player stroies are short, the online will keep you entertained for months. Also, the co-op is a blast and you can play in instant action modes. The sound is great and with surround sounds it actually makes you feel like you are right besides your warrior. You are missing alot if you dont get this game so take my advice and buy it!
Great but awful pricing.
A solid game that I got plenty of hours out of... When multiplayer was not discontinued. A game that you can play by yourself and still get a pretty reasonable amount of fun out of. 25 dollars may seem like a fair price but here's what they don't tell you, 1. Multiplayer is discontinued and unable to be played online, 2. An unobtainable platinum trophy which would render this game useless to play. At the end of the day the choice is yours, I just suggest rethinking this game.
this is an must have
Some people might not like this game because it has a short history line, but hey call of duty 4 is the same way. But call of duty made it big for online play. And lord of the rings conquest has online as well not as good as call of duty 4 but it's a great online game play experience. The graphics are good, sound and controls are great, you can easily get the hang of it. The reason I gave it a 10/10 in challenge is because of the trophies. The online trophies are hard to get, one example is get 25 kills with the warrior in one life in any ranked server. That trophy is a pain in the behind but keeps you trying to get it. Another online feature that I liked is the co-op gameplay, you can play the actual story online with up to 4 players, that's sweet. If you are a lord of the rings fan get this game you would want to play it over and over again. See you guys online.
The one, the only, SUPER LOTR GAME!
To start off, the game rocks! Whether your a lotr fan or not, it doesn't matter, the game's EXCELLANT! What i didn't like though, is that the ed nation (online mode) doesn't work for me, and, you don't get to ride the dragon. ALSO, if you want to play on evil mode, you have to beat the 'good' side first. Those are just the only bummers. I beat the game like, 10 times, and i like to play the levels over again, but after you beat the game, you may not like to replay the levels like i do. and theres only like, 18 levels. But to me, the game never get's old. I don't get what the big fuss is about the controls. there not hard at all. but if you are still confused about them, theres a page that shows you the controls. Also, the storyline is boring, i just skip it. if you want to know about lord of the rings, WATCH THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, to sum the game up, it's great. it may be a little hard at first, but after a while playing, you become a master. better than a master, like a sensi!!!!!!! Go out and buy the game, seriously man. It's worth every penny. But if you still don't like it, it's onl $16.00, not fifty ,chill. So what are still reading this review for? GO! GO BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE ONE RING AND THE GAME TO RULE THEM ALL
wanted this game really bad when i mean bad i mean super bad i showed the trailer to my dad then he wanted it and his birthday came up he got it and we were all happy we were really exited i could not wait we put it in and then we played two player it was terrible we did not well my dad did not last a whole minute then we figured out why we were playing to hard levels so we licked the shire and it was a whole lot better. the last bad thing about two player is that you cant be on the same team. when you first get the game i recommend you play story mode because you learn the controls better if you become good you can become a warrior archer wizard a guy with two knives also the other good thing about story mode is that on the first level you get to learn who the good people are to play as faster i recommend this game to some one who want's another battle front game and want a big sword fighting game.
Don't listen to other reviews, here's why:
Let me cut to the chase: Lord of the rings is a great game, but if you don't have any friends (lol) or family to play it with, skip it. This game was meant for 2-player co-op and online battles. While single-player is fun, it only lasts about 7 hours, and there's no one to share your "WOW!!!!!" moments with. This IS NOT a good SINGLE player game. I've read that some people don't think theres any strategy, and that it's all button mashing. NOT TRUE!!!!! There are 4 classes you can be, and each of them take skill to master. The easiest is the warrior. The warrior is mostly button mashing with fire sword option and a throwing axe to make things more varied. The next is the Mage. You aim your lightning like a 3rd person shooter and fire away. They also have flaming bombs, healing option and two powerful melee attacks. The next hardest to master is the archer. This is more like a 3rd person shooter. The have 3 kinds of arrows and a kick/melee option, but also have the ability to zoom in and snipe with any arrow. The last is the scout, which is the hardest to master (we've played for probably 15-20 total off-line and on) and I'm still bad at it. The scout is much like the warrior, except instead of flaming sword, he can turn invisible and backstab, making an instant kill (but it's much harder than it sounds). You can also be giant ents, trolls, and that dragon thing from the end of the first film. This is really cool online when you're getting 5 people per attack. They all have there own strengths and weaknesses too, but mostly on online play there not too fun to be because of the fact that everyone's killing you. So when people say this is a no-depth button masher, the must not be playing the same game, because Lord of the Rings conquest has plenty of hours of fun. There's tons of variety, and this IS NOT A BUTTON MASHING GAME. There is depth, and I'm pretty sure shooting isn't done with mashing a button ;) Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
