Product Details:

The world of Gran Pulse is sinking into the sea and what remains is now called Nova Chrysalia. With only thirteen days remaining until the end of the world, Chaos reigns in a world that never ages. New life cannot be born. People need salvation.

As Lightning, it is your mission to save as many souls as possible so that they may be brought to the new world. Along the journey, you will encounter familiar faces and engage new foes in all new lands.  You must ultimately choose which souls to save and which to abandon...and fully understand Lightning's true destiny.

Gameplay

Battles

With this brand-new battle system, the player will be controlling Lightning and Lightning alone. The Paradigm Shift feature has been replaced with a unique tactical system that will provide a fresh, interactive battle experience! LR:FFXIII sees the introduction of a counter attack system! Counterblow is effective against an enemy's physical attacks, but it is powerless against magic and some special attacks, so take care when using it.

In The Field

Jump, climb, swing, and slide! Players can enjoy a variety of different actions by interacting with obstacles and objects. Explore every inch of the world using buildings, decorations, and furniture at your disposal.

Customization

There are many types of garb, each with their own parameters. A tactical set consists of equipment such as garb and a weapon, along with assigned abilities. During battle, you can swap between three different sets customized to suit your needs. Changing garb also changes Lightning's look, so both its utility and aesthetics can be enjoyed.

Special Abilities

Lightning has the capacity to use spectacular special abilities in battles! These abilities consume EP (Energy Points), so you should think carefully before unleashing Lightning's considerable power.

Lightspeed - This special ability consumes EP. When unleashed in battle it slows the passage of time, rendering foes helpless before Lightning's ferocious assault...

Managing Time

A world on a course for total annihilation presents unique challenges; where certain areas, missions, and people will only be available during selected periods. How will you use your remaining time?
Eradia (EP) has two functions. Firstly it allows you to use EP abilities such as healing magic and special effect magic that can do things like alter the flow of time. Secondly, EP can also be used to extend the time remaining before Zero Hour and the dawn of the Apocalypse.

Characters

Lightning

Several hundred years have passed since she fell into a deep slumber. The world, diseased by Chaos, is on the brink of destruction. The people, hopeless and full of despair, stand by hopelessly and watch the horror unfold in front of their eyes. As the end draws near, she awakens. She is Lightning, humanity's last hope. As the chosen one, Lightning battles her way through the final 13 days in an attempt to save humanity and accomplish her ultimate goal.

Lumina

A mysterious girl who appears in front of Lightning at every turn. Her unpredictable nature wreaks havoc everywhere she goes. A helpful friend or mischievous foe? This capricious little demon plays with Lightning and the rest of the world as if they were toys in a toy box.

Snow Villiers

A one-time ally of Lightning, Snow was engaged to her sister, Serah. Now he is the world's last remaining l'Cie, cursed with a terrible power. Though devastated by his failure to protect Serah, he has served as the Patron of Yusnaan for five long centuries. He protects the city and its people even as the rest of the world falls apart.

Hope Estheim

Hope watches over Lightning from his base in the Ark, guiding the savior as she tries to carry out all-mighty Bhunivelze's divine mission. As Lightning's trusted partner, Hope provides key information throughout the quest. Mysteriously, Hope is no longer a grown man, but has instead turned back into the boy that Lightning first met.

Noel Kreiss

A young man who formerly journeyed with Serah and Mog. Blaming himself for bringing about the destruction of the world, Noel's guilt makes him hide away from society. He ceaselessly works to maintain public order from the cover of darkness and has come to be known as the "Shadow Hunter".

Oerba Dia Vanille

For centuries, Vanille and Fang slept within a crystal pillar, holding Cocoon aloft in the sky. But then, a few short years ago, they awoke. As Vanille opened her eyes, she realized she was given a special gift; she could hear the voices of the dead. Dubbed the saint, she spends her days under the Order's protection in Luxerion.

Oerba Yun Fang

For centuries, Fang and Vanille slept within a crystal pillar, holding Cocoon aloft in the sky. But then, a few short years ago, they awoke. At first, the pair lived under the care of the Order, until Fang set out to the Dead Dunes to search for a long-lost relic. She did not return, becoming instead the leader of the bandit gang Monoculus, and leaving Vanille in Luxerion.

World

Nova Chrysalia

Nova Chrysalia, a world diseased by Chaos. Made up of four regions, a monorail provides transportation for travel throughout this realm. Lightning, the protagonist, begins her final adventure in this plague-ridden land devoid of hope. However, her journey won't be long, as the Chaos has bled through the soil, drawing near the world's end.

Luxerion

The metropolis is ruled by the Order, an organization devout to their god, Bhunivelze. The residents spend their days absorbing the teachings of this sacred deity. Metal is a common material found in the various structures of this gothically tinged city. Traveling bags and other ornaments are scattered around, depicting a charming yet surreal atmosphere. As the day draws to an end, the city's serenity is no more. Monsters and other creatures of the night prowl the area, leaving Lightning to fend for her life.

The Dead Dunes

This region is covered with endless desert sands as far as the eye can see. Within it can be found the shanties which form a base for treasure hunters seeking their fortune in the arid wilderness, as well as ancient ruins said to conceal a divine treasure. Many monsters with a character unique to the area appear in this region, such as the sand swimming fiends of the open desert and the undead horrors that lurk within the ruins.

As Lightning, it is your mission to save as many souls as possible so that they may be brought to the new world. Along the journey, you will encounter familiar faces and engage new foes in all new lands.  You must ultimately choose which souls to save and which to abandon...and fully understand Lightning's true destiny.

It all ends here.

  • YOUR OWN LIGHTNING - Upgrade Lightning's look, abilities and actions through hundreds of game-changing weapons and outfit combinations.
  • A CONSTANTLY MOVING WORLD - Nova Chrysalia moves to the beat of a relentless 24 hour clock resulting in a different journey for every player.
  • ALL NEW BATTLE SYSTEM - Master a completely overhauled battle system to control Lightning like never before by being able to block, dodge, and counter with precision.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is not as bad as some delcare, but... There are a lot of inconveniences. I would have to say that the biggest flaw would be the story. It feels rushed and oftentimes quite messy. XII-2's story(the precious installment) made me shake my head sometimes but this story--supposedly following up from the events of XII-2, is just a rushed messy mess. I see the potential but it really is flawed. I found myself oftentimes wanting to skip a lot of scenes, and I feel like there is way too much focus on boring side characters and their missions. Now another issue, would have to be the graphics. The CGI scenes are beautiful, but there are only just a few of those! The in-game graphics however, look as if they were rushed renders as well, and are not all that great in a lot of areas. Now having said that, I am a huge fan of the XIII series and any fan should give this a chance. The time clock adds a sense of urgency, I think it isn't as much of bummer as some say, I actually like it. The battle system is quite fun, and though it might take some time to get use to, it is quite entertaining customizing Lightning's abilities and gear. Though the story can be boring, it is quite cool to visit all the different places of Nova Chrysalia. It is rushed, I will say that, but there are a lot of fun aspects too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from My Final Fantasy This was my Final Fantasy. I grew up on FF.. From the original on my NES back in the day and forward. This iteration was simply the LAST straw. This FF13 trio has really ruined the FF series. 13 was ok.. 13-2 was bad.. 13-3 is one of the worst games ive ever played. Dumb story, jittery camera, cluny control, Ridiculously stupid side filler quests. (Fetch happy).. ATB battel system is no more than limited button mashing.. This FF game has eliminated EVERYTHING that loved about the FF series.. Do you like Lveling up?? Gone.. Do you like Having, controlling a party? Gone.. Do you like tinkering with spells and whatnot?? Gone.. Do you prefer stategically thing about what spell, action combos to use and try with big enemies?? Nope. this is only frantic button mashing. Sure it looks good, and sound is great. but the story has gotten sooo convoluted and milked out that it's plain stupid. Thi sis not just a really bad FF game, it's one of the worst games i've ever played. Dumb story, Bad camera, bad control, frustrating battle system.... I will have serious second thoughts on ever buying anything from Square again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great End to the 13 Trilogy :) The Battle system is very Fast and you change to other outfits that acts like classes such Black Mage, warrior or Red Mage. The Music and Level Design is very well done and there is a ton of things to do in the game. It's a Fitting end for a awesome Trilogy :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Enjoyable I've had a lot of fun with this game. The combat system is the true highlight of this game. You have so many options when it comes to combat, which helps it from becoming stale. This is also a game where you cannot complete everything during one playthrough so there is a lot of replayability. Another neat feature is that depending on the in-game day, some bosses are tougher and even take on different forms. I thought that was very interesting. The biggest downside is the story, which isn't nearly as good as the first two games, but it's still not too bad. It just feels kind of like a side story to the series. Overall I had fun with this game and would recommend this to people to play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic At first I was freaked out about the time limit but if you use the EP right then it isn't a big deal. Try to do as many of the quests as possible to boost your stats and get items. I loved it and thought it ties in great with the other games in this series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad, but not the best Playing LRFF13 wasn't as bad as everyone keeps saying it is. Yes, I agree some stories were boring and it seemed that lighting had more meaningful conversation with characters that we involved in side quest versus main party characters from FF13 which I thought was not great. Even during my first play through I skipped cut scenes because they just weren't catching my attention. Best part about this game was the battle system which really if you think about it its just single player with 3 roles and each role only having 4 abilities which I think its a down grade. But hey, if you are a FF fan or have played both 13 and 13-2 , then this is a must for you just to complete the trilogy ..... just wait for the price to go down first then the price will match its value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good story ending but not fun if no grinding The game story was really good. The only thing is that it's not your usual final fantasy that everyone is used to. doing the side quests to get stronger is different and unique to this type of game. I would like to keep it on being able grind to make my character(s) strong for hard bosses. And i do have to say that time is valuable if you don't have the guide. So it's better to get the guide if you want to finish the game with time to spare.
