Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7 has the final 3 books and 4 films in this game. This review is going to be split into 4 categories. Gameplay: The gameplay in Lego Harry Potters Years 5-7 is similar to other Lego games, such as Batman or Indiana Jones. You can cast around 6-8 spells, depending on the character, and create potions to advance through levels. You can explore many memorable locations from the Harry Potter world, such as Hogwarts, Malfoy Manor, the Room of Requirement, and more. There are 100's of characters to find and play is in Free Play, which is one of my favorite parts of this game. Sound: The characters rarely talk, occasionally laughing and grunting as they jump or get hit with a spell. Music from the movies are played in the background. Graphics: The graphics for the characters are shiny and great. Locations are well done in Lego form, especially Hogwarts. Every spell has a different way of shooting from the wand, which I enjoy. Lasting Appeal: This game is perfect for Harry Potter fans or Lego fans. Anyone can pick up a controller and play this for their first time and enjoy it. There are many characters, gold bricks, and spells to find even after playing the Years, which is a plus. Overall, 9/10.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Batgirl2120 One of my favoirte LEGO games!
I am a die hard Harry Potter fan, so I just knew I was going to have to play this. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much... at all, but I was fairly surprised in the end. The game follows the movie ONLY, though every now and then you'll see a slight nod to the books that the movies don't show. It's really nice for HP fans. The gameplay was fun and fullfilling, the graphics and sound were wonderful, and you truly feel as if you are in the HP universe! Also in the 2nd half of year 7 while in Hogwarts (as Harry and Luna) there is a skeleton doing MJ's "Smooth Criminal" dance, it was HILarious and so awesome! The things I didn't like is that sometimes it felt as if the devs rushed some things. There were plenty of wonderful ideas in the game, ie The Three Brothers side scrolling mini-game, that seemed like there wasn't enough time put into it. To be honest most a lot of the game felt that way. Sometimes the dueling was a bit off balance, and the boss fights were outrageous (another thing that felt rushed). All in all if you are a HP fan you simply must play it, even if for a while just to enjoy the experience. Even those who may not be into HP will enjoy it, though you may be lost as far as the story is concerned.
Rated 8 out of 10 by legoman33 great lego game for kids.
lego harry potter years five through seven brings humor and the moral of the story. I would say it is better than years 1-4. With this lego game the castle is bigger the levels are longer the game ends bigger. with new characters to choose from and new spells you have a bigger variety than before. bringing me to how could i say the player. This is more like beating a mission in call of duty than having lots of fun and beating it fast. The levels make you think you look for lots of items. making your brain function harder than with other kid games. Thats all i have to say on the topic.
Rated 10 out of 10 by DStud85 Worth the money! Great game!
This game is definately worth your money. It is just as good as the first LEGO Harry Potter, maybe even better. The graphics are good, the sounds are good, the storyline is pretty close but just like the first one, it's a bit different than the actual story. This game is definately good for all types of gamers, whether you are a child that just enjoys child games, a casual gamer that just wants something fun and not too hard to play, or a hardcore gamer that needs a break from the more difficult, challenging, and serious games. I give this game a 10!
Rated 0 out of 10 by ajax0014 Release Date could be a mistake
I have all kinds of respect for the LEGO games. But this is being released when the huge bestsellers are being released. LEGO is pretty popular, and normally they would get good sales since its close to Christmas. But Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are being released around this time so there sales will probably blow LEGO's out of the water. But it won't stop me from getting this!
Rated 0 out of 10 by DarthGeek Should be better than the first.
I enjoyed the first LEGO Harry Potter, and I'm excited for the next. TT is making a lot of improvements (there's a behind the scenes video from E3), and I hope there won't be glitches and bugs all over. Too bad such an enjoyable game is gonna be released in the thick of CoD, Uncharted, and Battlefield...
