JASF: Janes Advanced Strike Fighter
the only thing that looks good about this game is the box it comes in. i bought the game expecting a awesome game but as i played the game had so many glitches took to long to load NO THANK YOU!!!
Nice playability, but very simple otherwise.
The controls, realistic weapons tracking and munitions activity and a more realistic sense of true 'dogfighting' . Nice graphics and no glitches. However, Narrative and story are very plain and suitable for children. No real sense of storyline other than you are a pilot detached to be a support wing for a foreign country uprising and Civil War. Does not keep records of any type. Not many options, No real progress meters, XP system or leveling up at all, and several planes unlocked upon each mission completion. You can piick any plane for any mission, but all have unchangeable load-outs. you Must unlock a variation of certain types o jets for different skin and load-out. Load time extremely fast due to lack of information, but this game is meant to be played through quickly while enoying the flight!
I should have looked at reviews before buying.
After playing for about 2 hours, I put the game back in the case and went looking for return policies. The first thing that turned me off to this game is that the graphics look like this game could be rendered equally on a PS2. It looks like the textures are from 6 years ago and the game actually gets choppy. Furthermore, the interface outside of the game play was very bland. I was also looking forward to the coop online multiplayer. After attempting to find a game and there was none to be found, I decided that this game needs to go back on a shelf somewhere.
My full review should be right under this
I felt like I forgot something in the first review which should be right under neath this. That is that your character's name is Razor, and he basically flies solo the entire campaign. There's really no one helping you during battle. It's just you versus the enemy, so if your expecting big air battles with two sides engaged all across an area, look elsewhere. It's no wonder that the side your on during the game is losing the battle at the beginning....you and maybe four other people (NPCs that occasionally show up in battle during certain missions) make up their entire air force.
a budget game
Advanced strike fights has some good features...the planes are well modeled and look like realistic. The map is well detailed and the ground/ cities look pretty good for a flight sim. The missions aren't bad either, although some can become pretty tedious and difficult. All in all the campaign lasts maybe 5 to 7 hours over 16 missions and has 30 planes. There's also an online mode, but I couldn't find a match. Some of the bad things....the game is incredibly bare bones. There's 16 missions and a limited online mode, there really isn't much else. If your looking to learn more about the planes your flying, you won't find it here. Also the combat is just ok. I didn't really find it hard to shoot down planes as I had enough missiles to get the job done and not worry about getting in close. Second, the explosions were not there. For example, I destroyed an aircraft carrier, yet when I did so it simply disappeared. It didn't sink, or blow up it just disappeared. Altogether, the game isn't bad. It's really bare bones and has maybe 10 hours or so worth of gameplay. I'd say the new Ace Combat or even HAWX is a better flight sim to get.
Just A Starting Flight SIm
JANE'S use to have some of the best flight sim details of all the games @ least on PC when consoles were first introduced. THis game is for the beginning gamer who is looking to get indoctrinated into the world of basic flight sims. Very limited interaction with the flight control surfaces and the game could use some more intense graphics in the combat mode. BI realize that this is one of their first games after a few years of not being active in the business. Take it from a serious Flight Pro who works on & around real aircraft" JANE's go back into the old archives where you were one of the few software Mfg's who actually introduced flight controls to the gaming industry and put some of your great detailed flight sims into the new arena of combat Sims....RG
it´s beutiful game, very real.
