I Am Alive
*A game of Hit's and Misses* (The Reviewer)
Following the download of the demo to this one, and the well marketed advertisements of 'I Am Alive' - My eyes popped two sizes when I saw the price on the DLC. The Demo didn't seem too bad and even made me raise an eyebrow as to the game's potential, once I treked through it, but I wasn't fully convinced. In a few of the online previews, this game seemed like it was going to be something to pick up. After playing through the first few hour or so of it - I'am not so sure. Again the game designer's behind this one seemed as if they wanted to rush this quick demo out (And trust me, once you start playing it - you'll see what I'm hinting at) and once the demo was out - they would then push their sequel and up the price. (Yeah - I took a class on marketing - I kinda know ALL* of the little strategies.) I found myself asking *common sense* questions while playing this game, and continually thinking - "Surely they thought about this in the game developement phase." For instance, the world has been hit by a sizemic earthquake, leaving in it's wake something of a wasteland..i.e. Fallout. No problem there - understandable. But as I'am walking along the streets, passing up abandoned police cruisers and whatnot, I'm thinking to myself, "Hey, my ex used to be a cop - they are known for keeping SOMETHING* in those cruisers." But we'll let that one go. There's also the irony behind taking on groups of 3 to 4 goons, where a couple of them actually have pistols too. And if you manage to survive the scuffle, you find that (THEY TOO ONLY HAD ONE* BULLET IN THEIR PISTOLS) How ironic that EVERYONE* in this post earthquake wasteland is left with just ONE* single - solitary bullet... But again - we'll let that go as well. The gameplay is far to resembling of Uncharted and while I can understand the storyline being folded so that they have SOME* material - many of the decisions that are made lack SIMPLE COMMON SENSE. (I will not go into detail for the sake of spoilers but, I'm sitting there thinking to myself) "NO LOGICAL ADULT WOULD EVEN FATHOM* SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS"... But again - They have to have SOME* type of storyline. While I am still trekking through this one, I am almost sure that this will be $15 dollars I could have put towards something else. Again, they pulled a SHyamalan's on me with the previews and then the game is like... .... .... Uhhhhhh
Leaves Much To Be Desired....
I had been eagerly anticipating this game since I first saw it previewed in GI. I think that when it was finally released it was just a preview version meaning that this game could have been so much more. Yeah, it's priced low but I recommend trying the demo first and then deciding whether or not to purchase the full game. The graphics aren't mind blowing but the color scheme and sepia tones give it a definite post-apocalyptic world type vibe. The controls are pretty straightforward once you start playing and the sound and overall ambience are good. Look I like that there are limited bullets to be found and that the player really has to strategize how to combat multiple enemies and ration resources. I understand the stamina bar since the protagonist is supposed to be more of an everyman than a Nathan Drake or Ezio Auditore. It's a great idea buuuut.....it gets old after awhile constantly having to monitor the stamina bar and resources especially when the stamina bar loses its max capacity after the player begins to tire. I think that ideally you have to be a hardcore gamer to really get into this one. I tried to give it a chance and stick with it but there just wasn't enough to hold my attention. After a couple of hours I was ready to go back to something else.
Good, but there could have been more...
I enjoyed playing this game. I'm a big fan of survivor horror type games. So it only seems right that I would buy a post apocalyptic type game. I started out with the demo to get a feel for it. It seemed like the kind of games I'm into so I bought the full game. I definitely enjoyed it, especially the story. There were things about it that I didn't like. For example, you can't check or get inside cars on the street. Nor can you go inside random houses or apartments. Albeit this is a post apocalyptic game. I wouldn't expect any supplies to be left inside houses and cars. But having the option to check would have made it a little more realistic. I also felt that there could have been a lot more action. The game seemed more like it was set to cruise. There really wasn't anything about it that urged the player to complete a task. It seems they had a lot of great ideas going for the game. But the game itself just wasn't difficult enough or long enough to justify things like a leader board. There are parts of the game that could have been expanded on to add a little oomph to the game. I enjoyed the stamina bar, although it sort of bothered me when it got empty. It would cut away the amount of energy you would be allowed to use next time. Forcing you to use an item to restore it. I enjoyed the story, I didn't really see that ending coming which is good. I do hope there is a sequel, but hopefully the game will last much longer.
i havent boucht the full game yet... cus im broke... but i played the demo and honnestly it was one of the coolest demos i have ever played. now its meant for hardcore gamers and "noobies" wouldent do to well in it. its all based on thinking on your feet and useing your limited recources to your advantage.
NOT AS IT SEEMS
I love the story line I think its awesome that the game creators are trying for survival type games and stamina and such. They could have done a lot better on detail and come on there is more stuff and ammo than that just look at all the police cars you would think there would be something in them. Graphics are not the best in my opinion, I am a fan of story line the actull game I was hoping would be a lot better previews looked amazing. The game unfortionatly did not make standards
Think before you act!
Just recently downloaded the game, I've got to say that it is truly for hardcore gamers who can appreciate a game that forces you to think on the spot. The games demo pretty much explain the concept of it, you climb, you search, you survive. I loved how the game pretty much left you with mostly no lethal weapons of your own but an empty gun to intimidate the surrounding enemies with. As the game progresses you gain more resourceful weapons. Overall the game had a very decent story and tolerable controls. Try out the demo first!
Good survival game
it like real life problems if the world happen like that . it a good story telling game . it needed to be able drive car and have group of with him. it need to not to back alway from problem all the time.
