Inclusion of popular cars beginning with FIA GT3 machines

Many of the world's most popular cars will be included in Gran Turismo 6, including FIA GT3 category racecars that have taken the leading role in GT car racing today.

Nissan DeltaWing '12

Having an extremely narrow front end and a wide rear end, this vehicle's revolutionary rocket-like styling has sent shockwaves in the racecar design world. After appearing for the first time in the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car also participated later that year in the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta in the U.S., where GT Academy Winner Lucas Ordóñez and his fellow drivers achieved 5th place overall. Their achievement proved beyond a doubt that the DeltaWing was a formidable race machine with incredible potential.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) '14

Gran Turismo has followed the development process of the latest iteration of "America's sports car," from the introduction of the camouflaged Test Prototype to the pre-production Final Prototype. And at E3 2013, the production model will finally make its appearance. Enjoy the feel, sound and breathtaking performance of the all-new Corvette that will soon be in the hands of eager enthusiasts around the world.

BMW Z4 GT3 '11

BMW introduced this car in the FIA GT3 category after the great success of its legendary racing M3. Based on the production Z4, the car has been made lighter, wider and the center of gravity has been lowered. Also, the car's, aerodynamics have been significantly improved to produce more downforce. The engine is a 4.0-liter V-8 that shares the same DNA of the powerplant of the famous M3. Its long nose, short overhangs and aggressive fascia give this car the look of a true winner.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 '11

The SLS AMG GT3 achieved its first victory in the Nürburgring 24 hour race in 2013. While keeping the dedicated SLS AMG aluminum space frame and 6.3 liter V-8 engine, the German supercar has been transformed into a mean FIA GT3 racecar. Its unique pulsating exhaust sound adds another dash of flavor to a truly unique car that inherits the distinctive gullwing doors of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300SL of yesteryear.

Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 N24 Schulze Motorsport '13

This is the actual racing machine that the producer of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi, drove in the 2013 Nürburgring 24 hour race. Although it's based on the production car, the track width has been greatly expanded, and its drivetrain changed from four-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. It also shed a good deal of weight. It was the first Japanese car in Nürburgring history to lead qualifying at one point, showing its extremely high potential as a racing car.

Audi R8 LMS ultra (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) #3 '12

This is a GT3 machine born from the exotic R8, Audi's flagship sports car. The company's famous Quattro all-wheel drive system has been shelved for this model to adopt a mid-engine/rear-wheel-drive layout. The performance of the ultra version has been greatly improved, thanks to a number of changes including carbon-fiber door panels, as well as an exhaust upgrade and aerodynamic improvements. Car #3 belongs to Team Phoenix, the champion machine in the 2012 Nürburgring 24 hour race.

New Locations with Grander Scale

Gemasolar (Photo Stage)

Gemasolar is a massive concentrated solar power plant located in Seville, Spain. A total of 2650 reflector mirrors that are each 9 meters tall and 12 meters wide are arranged in a circular layout, and the facility generates enough electricity to power 25,000 homes. This expansive facility covers an amazing 185 hectares (approximately 457 acres) of land. This is a truly unique location where the utilization of limitless natural energy is visualized on a colossal scale.

Willow Springs International Raceway

This famous circuit in California is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and is finally making an appearance in Gran Turismo. Willow Springs International Raceway is a circuit that is located in a hilly region just outside of Los Angeles. Of its many layouts, the course we are introducing at this time is the main course called "Big Willow". At 2.5 miles per lap, it is known for its challenging high-speed corners and intense elevation changes that trace the hilly terrain.

This is an original track that has been created in the vicinity of the Gornergrat station, which is well-known for its incredible view of the famous Matterhorn in Switzerland. This is a mountain course with extreme elevation changes, located over 3000 meters above sea level. A sheer rock face follows along the track, but the width of the course is wide enough for overtaking cars in a race. The sight of the European Alps as you cross over the hill here is simply spectacular. We hope everyone will enjoy the sheer scale of the stunning natural scenery around the track when driving this course.

Highlights of Gran Turismo 6

New car physics simulation

The physics model which dictates the dynamics of the car has been renewed completely. Load changes of the car, changes in vehicle attitude and the relationship between the surface and the tires are even more realistic now. Players familiar with the game will immediately feel the new depth in driving feel the first time they turn the steering wheel.

Tire Modeling

With the help of our technical partner, the Yokohama Rubber, a new tire model has been introduced that reflects the tire compound, tire structure and changes in characteristics under extreme load conditions.

Suspension Modeling

In collaboration with German suspension manufacturer KW Automotive, the precision and functionality of the shock absorber modeling has been improved significantly to deliver the most life-like suspension actuation yet.

Key aerodynamic factors - downforce, lift, and air resistance - which continually change the vehicle's attitude and its relationship with the ground surface, have been recreated to a level of precision never seen before. Keen players will probably start to feel the airflow around the car as they drive.

Adaptive Tessellation

Adaptive Tessellation represents the next-generation in 3D model rendering technology. Tessellation involves dividing a polygon into multiple geometric tiles, and in Adaptive Tessellation, the polygons will automatically divide and become finer according to the viewing distance and position. This makes it possible to maintain the very high quality of the surface image whether you are close up or far away from your viewing object.

HDR Rendering Engine

In order to more accurately express the wide dynamic range of real-life scenery, the HDR dynamic range in Gran Turismo 6 has been made 50 times greater than that in GT5. This prevents over-flaring of highlights and blackouts in shadows caused by extreme differences in brightness; allows more natural blurring effects; and the glimmering effect of lighting is better represented for an improved user experience. This will also enable better motion blurring which increases dynamic motion effects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing for The Racing Gamer. Gran Turismo is the racing game for the pro or new to racing games gamer. It is in my opinion better than Forza or Need for Speed. The game is not perfect I have survived having to do each update one at a time. Then still it is a game you should add to you video game collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must try for casual gamers and hardcore gamers. Ignore the overall rating this game is awesome, its realistic not in terms of damage because their is no damage, you can't mess your car up, but you can modify it to go incredible speeds, I have a corvette c7 that can go 285 mph its insane! You can put spoilers on your cars and you can put aero dynamic parts on your car to make it yours people who say this game isn't great are lying. Get it for yourself and find out how great it is too mess with 1200 cars and play on a forty tracks. Conclusion on Gran Turismo 6, it is one of the best racing games ever!!!!!! Tip: If the update takes too long get rid of files and data that is taking up room that you don't need anymore.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I have owned GT 1,2,3,4 and now 6. Features are missing from replay and the blasted updates make this game worth no more than two stars. I bought the game only to spend 8 hours trying to download and install all the updates. The game would not let me play with out updating, ridiculous. Then to play online I had to download and install more updates more hours I had to wait. Absolutely pathetic!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Simulation, but could be better This game is a step up from Grand Turismo 5. I would have to say I did expect better for what the pre-release hype was. The graphics pretty good for the cars/interior details. I think the scenery is ok, except you can see that trees didn't get much time put into them. The sound quality for the cars..., let me say it isn't terrible, but only one step up. When you crash your car into something, it sounds like an empty refrigerator box falling. Also, in real life, you cannot drive 70-100mph on sand and grass, in the game you can, that's NOT realistic. Compared to Forza 5 where if you don't stay on the track, you can't go over 10mph. One thing I will give an A+ rating about is the library of cars that are in the game, and more that are DLC. I also like the pit row, where you need to service your car, now that's pretty realistic, except, I wish there needed to be mandatory oil changes required in less time, since you can race 100 races before you need an oil change. I think it's a very good idea, and would like to see where the pit row can go on the next game probably for PS4. Bottom line... it isn't great, but it is the best simulation you can get on PS3.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from this game is ok,, takes to long with downloads GT 6 is a good game but what I have found is it takes longer to download content then it dose to play the game.. it took me 1 week to go threw all the races in the normal screen,, what is gone now is the long races 6 hour to 24 hour races are out and 6 minute and 24 minute races are in.Really the only reason to get this game over GT5 is for the vision GT cars..95% of the cars in this game are the same ones that you had in GT5. when I was talking about downloads it takes an average of 30 minutes to do a download and I have had some go over 1 1/2 hours ,, so buy the time the finish you do not even want to race the game you have found something better to do with your time . I really give this game a low rating for that reason ,, you can buy this game just to have it but I think you will find a better game very easy...***

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This Vs Forza? Forza Wins. This game was absolutely terrible. To put in simple words, this game seemed rushed the sound effects for the cars are pretty much the same and the graphics look exactly like the last. Understanding that it is supposed to be a real racing simulator, it falls very below the bar. In my opinion rather play Forza.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Waste of money Visually this game is on par with current gen systems. That being said, I think that they still have not addressed the major issues that have plagued this series going back to GT4. Too many cars, way too many Japanese cars and most importantly, the cars sound like cheap lawn mowers. When you buy a muscle car in the game, you expect a throaty V8 sound and instead you are stuck with the sound of a rice burner on steroids. If you are a casual gamer who wants to race and don't care about the finer details, then this is a game for you, other wise, avoid and go with Forza 5.
