Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars
This game is xtremly addicting...i cant get enough of it. I play this game all day since i got it. The graphics are not the best the for such a huge landscape there are not that bad. I recomend this game to all PS3 owners!!!! The online play is better than the single player.. Dont buy this game if you dont have online because you will only be torturing yourself. Objective based style is different than normal but it makes it fun 2 play. Go out and buy this game plz. This game is one of my favorite games to come out on the PS3 it blows Haze right out the water. Also the ability to choose from two teams each with five different style of player with different skills is smart. You need the abilities form each of the players to get the objective completed. Go out and buy this game
New release from an excellent source
Splash Damage, creators of this game, were the pros behind Enemy Territory, the freely downloadable Quake 3 engine (RTCW actually) based online shooter. That game held the coveted "most played online game" title for several years, bringing in hundreds of great mods across thousands of servers. It provided us with unlimited hours of free, customized, team based fun. I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this game, as the previous entry based on the RTCW world was sublimely balanced and excellently executed, I've felt it would be great to bring out to my living room for night after night of blasting away the enemies with sick team based tactics. The Enemy Territory series is set apart by providing a great balance of abilities and roles to fill, instilling a sense of capability in each role, and continuing the id tradition of smooth, fast paced multiplayer gaming. I look forward to all of these elements, plus many more improvements on my PS3 next Tuesday!
If you like BattleField....
This game has some good things about them. First, if you don't have Playstation Network, you can play up to 16 bots in a all out battle which I like. The bad about this game is that it sucks up a lot of memory. You need a least 4.5 GB to install this game, which I hate because I have the 40GB Playstation 3. The online is kind of laggy but there will be an update soon to fix that. A lot of people play it, which I was happy. Overall if you like battlefield kinds of games and Quake you will like this game. This is not worth **** but still it's worth it. The graphics are kind of out-dated and sometimes the framerate drops but hey that's in all games. It's not a COD4 kind of game. But it's still fun to own and have. This is a good game with some problems.
Not what I thought at ALL
Okay I am going to review this game in full honest: Quake Wars was not what I thought it was going to be AND what it SHOULD have been at ALL!!! Ok, let's begin shall we? First off there are only two modes: online multiplayer which is the highlight and campagin. You know if you don't have PSN and got down that you wouldn't be able to play online since that's the highlight, ya know, you wouldn't be missing out on much because: 1. No one plays it. 2. Campagin and Online are the SAME EXACT THING. Online is online and campagin is the same maps with no storyline or characters oncesoever, do what can I compare campagin to? Hmmmmmmm........probaly AI Bots mode in Killzone 2. But hey that was FUN. This is just a mess. For real! I can EASILY slip past enemy deffenses. Anyway, there are 2 armies to play as. The GDF and the Strogg. GDF = military, Strogg = aliens. There. Last thing: The game is supposed to be team oriented but it's not. My "AI comrades" are spread ALL ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELD and they don't do anything. In fact the only reason I give this a 5 is because it's good fo about an hour.
LOVE IT OR HATE
This was a great looking game on the PC and had lots of people to play against....But to me the 360 and the PS3 versions have been badly rushed i have played both versions have issues from graphical jagging or muddy textures or pop in....There is no single player besides bot matches..Which is a little disappointing....the ps3 version looks a bit worse than the 360 version that at least decent but to me the ps3 looks only a bit better than the original counter strike but...hey i own the ps3 version and I have good old fun with and it is enjoyable...but to get better graphics in it and u have a 1080p tv..set your tv to custom resolution so that if the game doesn't support 1080p native then it will run in 720p and will look better....Because when u play ps3 some games don't upscale well in those higher resolutions...but hey go out and buy it will have fun with the game it isn't the best...Because for one the maps are huge but only 16 players can go online when it really needs 24 or 32 players... BUT I LOVE QUAKE AND DOOM AND WOLFENSTEIN GAMES I WOULD BUY THIS GAME...BUT IF U HAVE A 360 BUY THAT VERSION SINCE IT DOES LOOK A BIT BETTER AS FAR AS BEING SHARPER WITH BETTER LIGHTING EFFECTS....
I'll be honest, I bought this game because of it's $3 price tag, and I figured that no one plays online anymore, but you don't need online to play this game, it plays the same without it. Too bad Activision is stuck on it's Call of Duty franchise, because it will no longer make good games like this ever again.
Better Than HAZE/HALO
That doesn't really say much, but I really liked the game. The Human side is very much Call of Duty like, and The Strogg alien side is just plain insane. The game is objective based so you HAVE to capture areas or defend them to win. The way they handle ranking is cool also. You can unlock almost everything in your first round, IF your good enough. That makes it so a new player can still beat a veteran player based on skill level alone, not hours accrued. You need to have a well balanced team or do lots of Class switching to complete the objectives, but that's what I liked. It doesn't feel like the same monotonous war game over and over like a sport, point for this team, point for that team. Perks are earned per round and are gone at the end. However, Persistent Awards are tracked throughout your entire online QW career. The box is MISLEADING. It says Players 1-16 (Online 2-16), That could lead you to believe that you can play more than one player per PS3. You cannot. However, this game, I feel, will become the next LAN PArty game of choice. Go check it out and hopefully I'll see you online.
Not as good as I'd hoped
I was pretty excited when I bought this game but after playing it a while, I'm somewhat disappointed with it over-all. I can't stand waiting 10 seconds to re-spawn when you die and maybe it's just me but the whole game feels prety un-structured. I don't know if there is any affiliation with the original "Quake" games (which I loved!) but this one plays like a chicken running around with his head cut off. The only thing I like about it is the option to choose from different classifications of soldiers. BUT, even then, the selection of weapons is rather limited. I don't play video games professionally or anything, but I can't see myself devoting much time to this game. But, that's just my opinion. All things considered, this one will end up a trade-in...
Good but not good as PC
This game is good if you like online and other stuff like alien weapons but not as great as the PC version though which was a bad thing to have... if only the graphics were a little better and the story line as well but still I recommend you that you get this game because I will get it just because it looks fun and online is great too. If you are new to FPS shooters then I probably recommend this because it shows you how to play but people who are aware of the controls then you might want to get this game I recommend you it won't fail you but I'd say it might be an OK game so i recommend it too anyone who likes online and is a big fan of FPS which like me love FPS in all It's a good game but if you like something with a great story line then i might not recommend this game but it is still fun and that's all that matters.
Warning!!! Dont buy this version of the game!
The lead development is on the xbox 360, and as a matter of fact, this is the last game being made by the studios thats making it. They are known for making crappy games, and therfore the studio is being shut down. I did hear the 360 version will be good and polished, but I'm good on that, I dont have a 360, and never will. I dont know what else to say besides buy it at your own risk.
