Best boss battles in open action-rpg, period!
Pros = a melting pot of great ideas, cool co-op ideas, long
Cons = no difficulty setting, no multi, fast travel is weak
Worth = the sooner you get it the happier your pawn
Let me start off with by saying you can fully enjoy this game without the dlc so no need to be upset about day 1 dlc. With that being said, they need to figure out some sort of patch to add a difficulty setting and add a feasible fast travel. Fast traveling is expensive and not all that effective.
The co-op idea is amazing like sharing pawns and taking on the Ur-Dragon, but then not having a fully functional multiplayer along with it was stupid. Your main pawn can be hired while you are not playing the game. I once came back from going on hiatus on the game and my pawn received 50,000 rift crystals with several players using it. This and defeating monsters, completing quests, and finding them are the only way to get rift crystals without having to pay for it through dlc.
It does a good job taking the best elements from other franchises like the horror from resident evil, big world like elder scrolls, action orientated like devil may cry, huge bosses with big rewards like monster hunter, and defeating monsters like shadow of the colossus.
Some elements it could improve on is the squad base tactics. It is below average compared to your regular war game. The pawns are smart, but you can't program them as good as in final fantasy 12. By the way, if you feel they are talking too much then you can sit them down in a chair and tell them to shut up!
I got this game at midnight launch and its all that i expected, i'm just starting the game and im already in love with it, like most people i played the demo and trust me the game is a million times better, if you like rpg's like skyrim or dark souls this is a must buy
PLEASE BUY THIS
when i played the demo i was sold i didnt get it on release because i wasnt into it but im so glad i did pick it up,because trust me when i say this game IS AMAZING the story line will have you hooked and its easy to play and hard at time, i love the combat because it lets you chose what you want when you want
The opening theme Music is the only thing that sucks about this game. There is a slight learning curve, but once you get past that. The game is Epic. And being able to use other peoples Pawns is very cool. (The Rift is a endless place to Window shop for new Companions. You can pick a All-Star to come with you that will help show you the ropes. Or you can pick the 15th man off the bench and show them the ropes, and send them to their master with better Knowledge.
A Great Game For Regular RPG and J-RPG Fans! I Had Problems on The Souls Games Than This, But At Least Theres a Pause Button! I Completed Dark Souls Two Days Ago (Link the Fire Ending) And I Cant Wait For The Sequel! I Am The Warrior of Sunlight! Praise the Sun (Lord)! :D
Born to be great !!!!!
5/2/2012 : Ok so ive put in some serious time on the demo now and i have to say, between the demo and videos ive been watching this game is going to be insane. It takes the RPG depth of Diablo or dungeon siege and the environment/great graphics of skyrim, then mixes all that with an almost Dark souls feel. This game will be insane. The weight of weapons and armor just like Dark souls has an effect on combat. The magic is big, the kind of magic you want in ANY game, 3 story ice spears, walls of fire, the works. And for RPG players like me, they have massive two hander swords that look awesome. and flow great in combat. PLUS the character you make in the demo can be transferred into your game once you get it. So really you can start playing it now, 20 days before it comes out. This is the game true RPG fans have been waiting for......now for the bad part.....we still have to wait 20 more days for its release. POWER TO THE PLAYER!
Unexpectedly Awesome Game.
I really only played this game because I like medieval related things. Now don't think I'm a nerd I'm not I just like that stuff. So I start playing and it has this whole pawn system is weird, and they can get pretty annoying. I soon forgot this feeling as I see the graphics on this game. I don't just love Capcom, meaning it's not my favorite game makers. They really made a cool game. This game is really sweet, but as with most games you can't swim (Because it has a brine thing) which is pretty stupid. I like how you can crawl on enemies and stab them, which is an awesome thing to do. All in all I love this game and recommend it to people who like adventuring in caves and plains in games, but to people who play games like red dead redemption they might not like it, MIGHT. Come on, quit sitting and waiting buy Dragon's Dogma or Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen!
Capcom's latest money grab.
I awaited this game for a long time, and the more I saw it, the more excited I was. Sadly, this game utterly and thoroughly sucks. This game has a mediocre story, to say the least. Usually story is second most importance to me, but it is so agonizingly bad you could quit just from that. Graphics are extremely low resolution, but there is a fair level of detail, even if that detail looks bad. All voice acting is terrible, the soundtrack, especially the start menu song, is either generic or out of place. Gameplay is solid, and gives some fair customization options, but the leveling is shallow, the gameplay is overly difficult, and there is no fast travel! That is just laziness. Even worse, the world is massive, so going anywhere is a chore. To make it worse, the game is brutally hard, so you can rarely move without dying. If you want 3rd-Person hack n' slash action, try the amazing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Add me on PSN if you want to complain about this awful game. ID: Zakhaev1998.
Before recently I had only heard of this game in name and little else, but I watched a stream of it and some preview media and I have to say this looks amazing. What I'm seeing reminds me of Monster Hunter/Shadow of the Colossus mixed with Dark Souls made by some of the same guys who made DMC, I can't even imagine this game turning out poorly without the devs making some serious mistakes! So far I haven't seen much about the story but honestly if it turns out sort of lackluster (which I'm doubting) I don't even care most of the Monster Hunter games had literally no story and they were amazing!! Definitely pre-ordering and if they had a collectors I would be getting that and that is saying a lot when the game comes out a week after Diablo 3! I'm predicting an absolute must have RPG of the year!
This looks amazing, but you're in for a wait!
There are a lot of ways to describe this game based on what is in the preview video, but I think "Monster Hunter On Steroids" describes it best. Graphically, it looks amazing. Did you see the scales on that snake up-close? Pfft, this is just pre-alpha content. I can say that with utter certainty because of the release date of December 2012. That's almost two years from now, so I can imagine that they'll have plenty of time to refine the game to, hopefully, perfection. I will expect much from this game, mostly because of its prolonged time for development. Thanks for reading my preview (insert your name here), thumbs up if you think it was helpful!
