Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit
I am sitting in my game room playing Mortal Kombat 9, thinking "Man, I wish I wouldn't have to play as, like, 20 different characters to progress the story, because learning all these moves is complicated. So I resorted to button-mashing. Contrary to popular belief, this game actually DISCOURAGES button mashing then encourages it. Because the combos are simple and the game has an effective counter system, players are encouraged to learn how to perform combos and discouraged to button mash since it's ineffective due to countering. So, simple combos is a good thing and not a bad thing. Because the characters all play the same with different moves, if you play the story mode and have to switch characters you can *GASP* ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! So, similar characters is a good thing and not a bad thing. This game is in 720p, but now the loading times aren't super long, so once again, this is a good thing and not a bad thing. I think you get the point. Problem is, alot of people like to bash games without seeing the other side, so I thought I'd give this game the credit it deserves, for it's the best DBZ game out as of my writing of this. Nothing is perfect, unfortunately, and the game has 2 small problems. First thing is that they were trying TOO HARD to make this a good game. It has way too many SFX sounds, which gets annoying, but it you turn them off, you won't be able to hear stuff like punches and ki blasts, which is worse. The other problem is the lips are horribly off sync. This time, they were just being lazy, but oh well, still the best DBZ game out there. With a Metacritic aggregate score of 71, this game deserves way better. The problem is, we live in a gaming world where unless the game is super-complicated, it sucks beyond anyone who is 7 years old. Well, I will say this: I will love the Dragon Ball series from 7 to 77; 'till the day I die, and that goes for Dimps as well.
A Good Start For The Next-Gen DBZ Series
Burst limit has a lot of good qualities to it. The graphics are incredible on both systems and it runs great on both systems, at first I didn't like the fact it only has 25 characters and it goes back to the basic budokai series of fighting but it is still fun. I enjoy playing Burst limit and tenkaichi 3....the only thing i don't like about burst limit is after playing budokai tenkaichi 3 you feel like you take a step back because you could fly all over and the moves could be fired from anywhere and the fighting system is better on tenkaichi 3...but like my title states it's a start a very good start for the next gen DBZ games, when and if they decide to go back to the tenkaichi fighting style of being able to fly and fire off your specials from any where it will be amazing. My three main gripes of burst limit is you don't need to charge up to do your moves...like in the cartoon they do so I don't like that, the limited characters secondly, and third no majin vegeta....Lol but overall I give it an 8 out of 10.
Cool, Cant Wait
This game is the next generation of the dbz games... and there starting with all the old characters first. Well most of u guys are mad about that but u shouldn't be. If a new dbz game is going to start its good to start with the old characters first because if u cram every character in one game...how the heck are they going to make any more dbz games when they used all the characters. With few characters....there able to produce more games later. U guys should think about that instead of getting mad because there's not too many characters to start with. Other than that this game looks very good. The graphics and the fighting play looks good. It's like there bringing the very first budokai game out. I'm happy about that. I always like the budokai's 1, 2, and 3 better than tenkaichi game. It's like your playing TAG on a dbz game. The budokai's 1, 2, and 3 established exclusive fighting and part 3 has great super moves witch i hope is in this game. Overall this game is going to be great.
This game is bigger than anything the DBZ realm has every seen! It's based off DBZ Shin Budokai for Sony PSP. Atari finally brought back the Budokai 3 style and allows you to choose straight on view, or the Tenkaichi Shoulder camera angle. The story line is great, and goes from the Saiyan saga, to the end of the Cell Games, so be sure to expect a sequel in the future. Other great features such as in game transformations, the new aura burst system, and online gameplay are what makes this game so amazing. The makers reduced all the in-battle cutscenes, and kept to the one-on-one battles. Unfortunately there are no tag team battles. It's just straight brute attacks, and less knockback cutscenes, where you crash off rocks and buildings. Transformations and all, there are at least 30 playable characters. And last, but not least, the amazing graphics. If you don't have a PS3 or 360, I advise you to get one quick, or you're gonna miss out on one of the best fighting games yet!
DBZ Does It Again
Though some say this game isn't long enough I agree. But this game does have online battles, which you can have your power level ranking and be ranked with people all around the world. There is also a new feature called Trials where you can do Survival mode and that is also ranked for how long you last. There are also 2 more other than survival but unfortunatly I have not gotten that far but the Zchronicles could be longer I beat the whole Chornicle in 4 hours 22 mins. on Easy. It only goes up to Cell Saga and Broly, along with Bardack but those are added on. It could have had the Buu Saga and then it would be much better. I also don't like that this game has few unlckables and you can't change character color. Goku only can do Super Sayain 1 in this game and Kaioken. On the good side the controls are good along with the specials. But the main part is that the graphics are some of the best we've seen from any game. Nice Job on makin the game I enjoyed it and I'm still playin I Give this Game a 10 out of 10!
THis game looks very nice and plays nice as well. But it lacks certain things the previous game have. The character selection is not what it used to be they left out a lot of fun and good characters. The story line os comparible to the very first DBZ game to come out for the PS2. The previous game had a very indepth storyline that went from Dragon Ball and through all the movies and into DBZ GT. This one only goes to the Cell Saga and does the first Broly movie. For the money spent on this game I would expect a longer game play time and something comparible to the previous games. Me and my friend beat the entire storyline it took us about 4 hours and compared to the previous one where it took an entire day or more to complete the game. I think there should have been a much longer storyline with more characters and this would have been the best DBZ game to date. For a next gen system i expected more from the game but non the less still enjoyed it as a DBZ fan.
This was by far the worst dbz game ever....i was so disappointed after buying this game...the controls where way to difficult to operate for simple moves. I've played most if not all of the previous dbz games and this was the most frustrating one to play and get accustomed to playing. Other dbz games (DBZ: T 1-3) all had the freedom to roam around the "dbz world" this game limited gamers in what we could do, I wish i had never brought this game. The only time the game was somewhat fun was in versus mode but even that lost its appeal after 30 minutes. I think the developers need to go back to what was working before this "burst limit" piece of crap came out, there are not enough words to describe how much this game SUCKED!!! And then the game doesn't even include the Buu saga, I mean come on you've got to be kidding me people. I give this game 2 thumbs down.
Basically a remake
For everyone who was angry about only going up to the cell saga; it's because this was supposed to basically be a remake of the first budokai game just with a lot better graphics. This is a good game, and you should not downgrade its ratings just because it didn't do all of the sagas. They made this game because people usually argue about the graphics for these games; well here you go and now that you got what you wanted you just want to whine and moan about something else.
LEAVES YOU WANTING MORE
first off i want to say N.W.O(nerd world order) please stand Up!!! this DBZ game reminded me why i loved this cartoon sooo much like its was amazing to see the gameplay omn the new gen systens. i have good opinions and some bad about the game. the good is the game looks great. its like plays dbz budokai 1 but a super beefed up steroid version of it the bad hmmm where should i begin...??? the drama pieces were always in the way and after a while it gets really irritating afetr a while, but u can turn them off. the 2nd bad thing was the story uit wasnt long enough idk if the game was rushed or a 2nd game its on it ways but i need more. i hated that theres no ssj2 except for gohan. i want to see super vegeta and super trunks and ssj2 goku and maybe super namek piccolo. the 3rd bad thig was the ultimate finishers in this game. its just like how it was for the psp game dbz shin budokai. i wihs it were more like the big cinamatic finishers like pervious games......but agaiins as a fan its a dbz game and its fun just leaves u wanting more.....its been 2 years now and no word yet kome on atari wheres our game
Same Old Song...
They really have to spice things up a little, what is this, the first DBZ game for the next-gen consoles, correct? Plus, this would be the beginning of a new series immediately following the "Tenkaichi" series. Not a fantastic start, as I heard in one of the previous comments, there are even less characters than BT3, and the story-mode actually sounds worse than last game, in my opinion anyway, seeing as it goes up only until the Cell Saga. Better graphics, and I believe there's a different style and approach to the general fighting style of the game, but, they have to do better than that, this is the next-generation consoles we're talking about here! I do, however, believe that there will be future DBZ games for the next-gen consoles, and they will be better than this, I would consider this to be the "SmackDown vs Raw 2008" of the DragonBall Z video game series, with little to no improvement. I'd save my money... Be blessed Michael
