by Treyman15 I like the fact that the rappers fight
I like the 2008 video game called Def Jam Icon. It is very cool the way you can use rappers to fight other rappers. Also I like the way it is a two player video game and each player can pick their own rapper, location , and song so during the fight each song will play.

As the subject says, I'd rather play the previous Def Jam than this crapload of garbage. When I first got my PS3, I didn't have any games for it, so I went to rent a few PS3 games to help me decide what I might buy. I had rented this game and hoping it would be good, but unfortunately, I was wrong. The graphics are great for this game, but the controls are stiff and I was dissapointed that the "blaze" mode from the previous titles wasn't in this game and using music to hurt your opponent. The customization took a while to design your character, like about half-an-hour that I've been in the game. After the customization, I was looking forward on the fighting, but it was a failure. In less than an hour, after my 3rd fight, I took the game out of my system and never played it again and I returned it. I'm glad that I didn't buy this game, b/c it's horrible! Get fight for NY instead, you'll save money by avoiding this trash.

This game was really well done in graphics; really worthy of having the title next gen. But the story line isn't as great. The moves suck badly, only two styles to choose from which limits you greatly while the other opponents get moves you can't get. Sadly the game isn't much but fight, sell music, repeat. I was looking for more out of this, sadly I was let down. I wouldn't spend more than ** bucks on this game. The game does allow you to pass by the annoying rap and put in some nice Megadeth and good brutal metal. The fact that they took specials out of the game was TERRIBLE. Your new special is turn tables. Literally all you do is PRETEND you're mixing records *little hand movement and everything* and the screen shakes causing the environment to do damage IF the opponent is close to something that will hurt him. This was the deciding factor of me returning the game to the store. The character creation was terrible. No voice customization at all which was to be expected I guess. Oh well, let's hope the next one makes more of a style, that means Metal, Rap, Rock, Country, Emo, everything should be considered to make a good def jam.

When i first started playing the def jam series i started with fight for NY, and i loved it, and when i heard about this one i immediatley wanted it. The previews were amazing songs outstanding and i decided to buy it. When i bought it the first thing i hated was the number of rappers. There were barley any. And you had to unlock alot of characters, but most characters weren't even real people. When i got into game play i hated the new controlls. They were very complicated and hard to learn. I liked the new mixing feature, but i also wish they would have kept the same aspect from the games before. If this is your first time starting out with def jam i recommend you buy fight for NY for ps2 or xbox, because you can still lay them on your next gen game system. Because i have to say i would rather play fight for NY than ICON.

Rated 1 out of 10 by Bballerlars Worst def jam game ever made.
This game was terrible, they changed the direction of the series and completely changed the greatly loved fighting style of the original first two games that made the fans love the series. That's why if you try and buy this used it costs 10 or less, while def jam ffny still cost 60 to buy used and it's a decade old. Don't waste your time with this game, I know I returned it right away. If I could give it a zero I would.

I really enjoyed the first two Def Jam titles. Fight for NY was one of my favorite games. Everyone should play that title. Now, for Def Jam Icon......what a joke. How is it possible that you have the opportunity to create the same game on a next gen platform, and you ruin it? Def Jam didn't even try to right the wrong that they did to the fans by creating a replacement "I'm sorry" game. Lucky for you guys Gamestop realizes how bad it is, and the price reflects that. I was one of the stupid ones that bought this title on the release date.

This game was really cool for like the First 2 or 3 fights then it just starts to tic you off , i mean i really hope that if they make a new one that they take out that exploding stuff because i can do combos all day and get half the other guys health down before he can even touch me, but since he can block one move and continusly throw me into a wall of exploding speakers he still wins and that just angers me , this is just my opinion but if you buy this game it will make you rage harder than going 24-1 in MW2 lol
Rated 10 out of 10 by DGkilla1017 Def Jam Icon Is About Music NOT ABOUT BLAZIN
the reason they took out all that blazing move is because their trying to make about music i can see why they took it def fight for new york came out in 2004 def jam icon came out in 2007-2008 def jam icon is a great game you dont have to hate it because blazin the gameplay is great and they have people you listen to today not people from 2002-2003 they put new song not old stuff def jam icon is about music not about blazin you should and really sit there and play it and you will have fun
