by Micchan Top-seller in Japan.
I find it a bit ridiculous, that my import copy came in the mail yesterday, and Atlus decides to announce the NA release today. Regardless, I'll be buying this again probably, seeing as how amazing this game is. The slick transition between anime clips to beautiful 3D cutscenes, along with the ensnaring plotline, makes this a must-buy for die hard J-RPG fans. I just hope Atlus doesn't cut anything out for localization purposes.

I feel as though the section where we are asked who the game is perfect for is quite multiple choice answer. This is game is for anyone except kids It has it's M rating for a reason. All in all a very solid title. The story is very captivating and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The graphics are anime type style and for those of already wanting to bash it for that "DON'T". This game is beautiful. Pretty decent soundtrack as well and if you preordered it then you will have the physical copy of that so kudos. The only drawback is most people complain of the difficulty which can be pretty harsh even on easy in the later levels but yet you can't stop playing because you want to know the rest of the story.Plus there are multiple endings depending on the decisions you make throughout the game which adds for excellent replay value. So if you haven't played this and are wondering whether or not to believe the hype. Go pick up a copy, you won't be disappointed.
Rated 9 out of 10 by SniperFi Great get away from humdrum games
im a gamer who loves FPS and RPG as well as a few other titles here and there i own both BF3 and skyrim and they are both very great games.this game however is very...strange, i was skeptical about this game at first so i rented it and i ended up buying it. it has challenges to complete it also has 8 different possible story endings based on the morality of your choices. and the story is also very strange however this game is very entertaining, the puzzles are hard so i started on easy the first time to set the learning curve and then went back for higher difficulties for the different story endings, i found myself often laughing at how bad a predicament the main character works himself into. the game also has quite a bit of eye candy if thats your thing, but like i said not for everyone i personally found it very fun and enjoyable vacation from the ordinary long ranged sniping of BF3 and the in your face combat of skyrim
Rated 10 out of 10 by Zahl A Different Kind of "Puzzle Game"
(C/K)atherine is a very exciting fast paced puzzle game that's completely unique. Atlus has a huge track record of delivering stories you can really write yourself into. Literally, your decisions write the story.
Don't be afraid of this game just because it looks complex or different, once you get a hang of things you will learn to love it for what it is.
Rated 10 out of 10 by dogs1234 Atlus you have done it again!!
from the team that brought you shin megami persona 3 & 4 have done it again only this time with catherine. catherine is a very unique and different kind of game, its not your basic rpg game and ect, its more of a puzzle/action story driven game, that will make you either hate vince or feel sorry for him, i have beaten both story's and this game still makes me want to come back and try on a harder level, like i said before this a very different yet unique game and some of you might be turned off by the nature of this game and why do you ask that because it is indeed a mature game and you will see why? the point is if your looking for a game thats very different then your average shooter, or ect, then catherine is worthy of a rental or buy. but be warned this game is hard and you will get frusterated with it, but keep with it and you'll see why catherine is a remarkable game in its own way.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Rrurui Weirdly Reliable?
Okay so I've been hearing a lot about this game from a lot of places for a while. I decided to look it up and it sounds interestingly, weird. The concept of the game seems superb and could be very funny, however I wasn't sure how well a game like this could be pulled off. But than I learned that this game was being developed by Atlus' very own Persona Team. The Persona games were very well made and put together and it's for that reason that I believe this game will be of very high quality and although I'm not sure if I would want this game, I'll definitely give it a shot because Atlus is a very reliable company when it comes to these decision making kinds of games. P.S. When I heard of this game I couldn't believe it, because the story sounded very familiar to the story of a certain someone you meet in a certain club in Persona 3 Portable. Did anyone else notice this?
Rated 8 out of 10 by UnrealDeath17 A good puzzle game.
Catherine is a fun and unique puzzle game. You play as Vincent, a man who cheated on his future wife Katherine with a girl he woke up next to Catherine. Because he is cheating on Katherine he is trapped in a nightmare that makes him climb to the top of a bunch of towers. If Vincent dies in his dream he dies in real life. Most of the game takes place in Vincent's nightmares. You have to move block around to get to the top of the towers. At the end of each nightmare, Vincent has to escape from boses. The game can be very frusturating at times. You may fall off the tower or run out of time. You should not stop playing this game until it is done. If you stop playing the game and go on to another one, when you do come back to it you will loose all of your skills. If you like hard puzzle games, then this is the game for you.
Rated 10 out of 10 by HightechZen Mix Hard Rain, Akira, and Angry Birds... and blend
I didn't really know what to expect when I bought this game, but I am loving it now that I got it! It has a little of everything I enjoy - and RPG element, a great story that is ACTUALLY effected by decisions, and HIGHLY addictive puzzles. Oh yeah, and hot anime female characters. They did a fantastic job making the anime 3D rendered without retaking away from the anime feel. I just found the decision making reminded me of Hard Rain (without the meaningless movement details), Anime on par with the movie Akira (it also reminded me of the high-style graphics in Bayonetta), and puzzles that caught me as much as that stupid Angry Birds game - all blended perfectly so it is not awkward. I highly recommend this title for anyone - well , later teen and up - adults will appreciate it more though.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Bonnemort Well then...
After playing this game one time through (on easy mode, as i was only interested in the story to begin with) I must say, there is no way I would recommend this game to anyone under the age of 21. This game is about as graphic as you can get se xually without having any nudity, the language is strong, and the nightmare levels were legitimate nightmares.
Otherwise, this game was about as epic as you can get. The story was excellent, the twists were fun, and the game was purely addicting. I give it an 8 over all simply because I was slightly disappointed in the length. Otherwise great game. If you dont mind very strong s exual content, strong language, really creepy bosses, and all around good puzzling climbing, and youre over the age of 21, then I suggest this to be a great pick up.
Rated 10 out of 10 by LyricalOne Worth every retry..i mean pillow.
This game is different. Now with that being said, different is not bad, it just means they are testing out new waters (for the Western games at least). This game is a great combination of a puzzle game, with a great story to say the least. The game play is smooth, seems simple enough to learn, but yet has so much depth with the different techniques one can use. The story is very addictive and the decision making makes it fun, interacting with small yet interesting details in the game. The puzzle's do get hard, even at easy they are challenging, and i have done normal, yet i can't imagine hard. I know the Japanese version was even harder, so people who are looking for a challenge, welcome to Catherine. Even though one might easily use 5 retries on a level, it is almost like Demon Soul's (another Atlus artwork), with every new try, one can try a different method and finally beating a stage actually feels good. Overall this game is worth the money as long as the player is open to new ideas and/or likes puzzle video games as well as a good story. If all you really want is the action without distraction, then this game might not be for you; Catherine can't help but be a HUGE distraction, don't you agree?
