by blackfang21 you would not believe
im going backwards with my CoD series. first black ops, them mw2, now this, and i have to say this is the best so far. it may not be the most appealing of all games, but it actually feels like a war game. WAW brings into a real war scenario, with artilleries and engaging environments. i will tell you hands down, when you look at this game you think of a disaster. that is what WWII was, a bloody, messy, disaster. there are no "fun" maps like Nuketown or Rust. its all realistically thought out. the campaign is also nice, with a different direction for once. this is REAL war, not a game. it really puts you in the battlefield, and is a great challenge. the missions are fun, but the whole campaign is extremely short. dont look for a lengthy story here. also, zombies. zombies is the best mini-game ever in my opinion. its really challenging, and gives you a lot of chances for different strategies. there are some minor things i dont like about the game though. first of all, you cant mute people in the lobby, only in game. secondly, zombies on split screen is annoying because the screens arnt even the whole tv. it leaves bars on the side. lastly, hackers. the first Free-For-All match i played, people were invisible and flying. yeah >: P but that was the only time. otherwise its a great game, and the best in my opinion.

by guyfromwork Best WWII game I ever played
The game is about the middle of World War II. You are either Dimitri Petrenko fighting off the Germans along side with Viktor Reznov or Private Miller fighting off the Japanese. This game does an amazing job explaining the horrors and mysteries behind WWII. This was also the 1st CoD game to feature Zombies. World at War Zombies is exactly like Black Ops Zombies only with WWII settings. I know alot of people aren't into the WaW multiplayer anymore but i still think it has all the potential of a CoD game. play through 1941-1945 in the story of the "Most Tragic Conflict in the History of the World".

Rated 10 out of 10 by zxelon Great Addition to COD Collection
When I first found out about world at war going back to the world war II storyline, I was a bit worried that it might not do that well compared to modern warfare. But as soon as I started playing, it was definitely clear that this wasn't like the past cod's set in WWII. From the moment I started playing, i was hooked. From the addition of the co-op campaign to the great online gameplay, they have added some great features to this new cod. There's the new co-op gameplay which allows you to play with a friend (up to 4 i think) in the campaign. In the campaign, they now have new weapons different from those of modern warfare, such as the flame thrower and some machine guns that you can also mount (such as in a window) then remove it and continue through the map. I've only just started the game, but the game has new maps set in russia and japan (maybe more later on). although it may or may not be as great as modern warfare to some, this one is a must buy if you're into fps or a fan of cod.

After hearing the Xbox fanboys of my school ranting about how good they were at owning people with the MP40 in this game i figuered, "heck, I might like this." So me, being a faithfull Wii owner at the time, rented this game one weekend and it blew my mind! This game is action packed to say the least. This game succeeds where so many fail, whether in be gameplay, graphics, online multiplayer, you name it! I was really looking forward to the ever popular Nazi Zombies mode untill being shot down with the fact that it didnt come with the Wii version, i was broken untill that Christmas when i got my PS3. I was in my basement 24/7 trying to reach level 30 in Zombies. This game broke the mold for modern shooters and opened a whole new set of standards for games of it's kind. In closing, If you like shooters, action, adn zombies, BUY THIS GAME, i garentee you will have no regrents except for the occasional jerk with the Juggernaut and MP40 combo online. Treyarch, we solute you! Semper Fi!
Rated 10 out of 10 by Prov18 WW2 LIKE NEVER BEFORE
i've played all call of duty games, but world at war is the best one. i rate it #1 over even modern warfare 2. nazi zombies is the most awesome thing i have ever seen in videogames. also in single player the graphics are outstanding! i spent so much time anylizing the game before i bought it. i went on youtube, gamespot, and gamestop to look over t he reviews and check things out. after watching all the videos and reading about the game, i realized that i really needed to get this game!! well, it turned out that i really did need it! i stayed up all night on my ps3 playing it. the guns, sounds, the atmosphere of the game were all very realistic. in school, i was studying WW2, and it was amazing to play the game and witness what WW2 was like. the multyplayer is the exact same! so much so, that i say that World at war is better than modern warfare 1 and 2 because of the graphics and special effects. thank you for rreading this review and i hope it helps you in your decision of buying this game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Deadsea17 Get this game its awesome
Ok wow I gotta say this game really impressed me. I bought this game, not knowing what I was getting into, because Gamestop was having their yearly ''New games 50% off deal'' and this game was the only one I saw that looked good. It was 20$. I bought it and I loved the intro and everything about it. At this time I didn't know anything about COD. Later when i played MW and the MW2 demo,I could tell that this game was alot better. I give the SP a 10/10 because wow this game will leave you catching your breath. The MP is good but I don't like COD online. However the ''Zombies'' mode is really fun,if you have co-op help. Otherwise it gets old fast playing solo. This game has fun Co-op that I encourage anyone to play. The garphics are mind blowing,The gun sounds and voice acting are top notch, and the lasting appeal is limitless. If you liked MW you will like this game. I give it a 9.75/10 because in veteran mode you will die....ALOT because of the unfair grenade spams. Other then that a perfect game.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Reptar2010 Lacks innovation, but delivers anyway.
Treyarch got a lot of flak in 2008 by not really doing anything fresh or new like Infinity ward did with COD 4, but really they didn't need to. COD 4's addictive RPG multiplayer transitioned to WAW, and it still works! Single player is fun, even if we HAVE trogged through Cold War/ WW2 inspired missions. There is incentive to beating the campaign: the infamous Zombies mode that is only unlocked through beating the campaign. All in all, this is a great game that was worth $60 then, and an absolute steal now at only 12 bucks. :)
Rated 10 out of 10 by n00b th4t pwNs y00h AMAZING!! BETTER THAN COD4
WOW! When I played this game, I personally thought that it is better than call of duty 4. It has so much more than it, and I don't get why people think the graphics are bad, they aren't. The guns are better and so is co-op. Doing the story mode again is fun, unlike COD4, which was terrible. I mostly care about the actually online game play which is the main thing for me. The maps are better than COD4. I got pretty bored with the maps there and playing on them just made me angry. I recommend that you get this game. On online, this game has 10 classes!! Finally more classes for more guns. You start off with 5 classes as usual. Everytime you prestige you get a class. But, later you have to prestige 2 or 3 times to get the other class. Now there is a good reason for people to prestige and not stay on the first one like noobs. I was on the 10th prestige on COD4 with all golden guns, so I am trying to find out if this game has golden guns. But I highly recommend you buy this game!
Rated 7 out of 10 by Kn0k44 Good, but your usual Shooter
Don't get me wrong, it is a very good game. Also aggravating, but a lot of games are. The Gameplay is the same as it always has been, so it hasn't been improved or taken away at all. You'll still see a lot of people drop shotting as usual, but you can always beat them somehow. The graphics are good, but not the greatest for Q4 2008. The guns are great if you like Bolt Action, and other older rifles. I know we all know it, but the MP40 is a bit overpowered. The Sound is actually very good for this game. While hearing your teammates (in-game) screaming about hidden Bouncing Betties, Dogs, and even snipers, you really get the feel for the warzone. I have only given it a 7 because I am hot-headed and anger quickly. Don't let my review diminish how much you like it though, we are all entitled to opinions. Oh, and for online players, there aren't all that many anymore. It's fine if you like classic TDM and Search and Destroy. Don't expect a lot of differed competition though.
