Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition
If you love shooting games, this is the game for you. It has such a diversity in weapons and really good characters. The game s really good if you go multiplayer. Going solo can get a little boring at some points, but in multiplayer, it's a blast!
Maybe a bit too soon?
While this pack is definitely cheaper then buying all the stuff in it separately, its doesn't include all content currently available (its missing the skins as well as the 2nd ultimate vault hunter upgrade pack), and there is still more dlc planned. Still, game is awesome, definitely worth a look if you haven't played it yet.
A good Game
I love the game and all, BUT when the game finally came there was only one disc in the case. Luckily it was the main game. I'll be returning this for a trade in in the morning.
this is a really great game
this game is in my number one slot of favorite games i play PS3 and i sold my xbox 360 and bought this and a controller for me and my dad.
Need I say more...................Great game for friends to play its refreshing from borderlands 1 with new characters and soo much more its truley amazing
A slightly different feel but bigger and better
Borderlands 1 was/is so neat because it scratched an itch that a lot of people didn't even know they had... though I'll admit I'd been craving a game of that sort for a while.... mixing up "First-Person-Shooters" with a heavy "Role-Playing-Game" dose and giving it a TON of in-game content and making it fun in Multiplayer.... Borderlands 1 was such an amazing breath of fresh air. Add in the crazy "Comic-book-esque" art style and you had something both completely unique and terribly addictive.
I'll admit, it took me a couple of hours to fully get used to Borderlands 2.... weapons are more realistically jumpy.... putting more of a premium on recoil-reduction and accuracy. The combat is probabaly a bit more difficult but has a tighter feel to it... I found it much more enjoyable than in Borderlands 1. The side-quests are more fully fleshed-out and the writing had me laughing-out-loud on many occasions.... and I'm someone who usually gives a small chuckle at the most. I'm a tough critic. Rockets and grenades are more expensive but are more of the "Supreme-Uber-Weapon" that you'd imagine they should be.... though rocket ammo is quite limited to balance this out.
Overall this is a larger, funnier version of Borderlands 1 with better graphics, better characters, better loot variety and more cool one-off weapons like that Shotgun TK Baha gives you in Borderlands 1. With a level cap of 72 (you have to download the DLC that extends the cap from 60-something to 72) and a crazy high amount of content: this game in it's "Game of the Year" incarnation will probably give you more bang-for-your-buck than anything else around.... especially considering there are 6 characters to choose from and each has several wildly different play-styles. I can't really think of any reason not to recommend this game... perhaps if you HATE FPS games.... but even then I'd say to give this one a try.
Treasure Hunters Unite
This is a fantastic game. it has tons of personality and wacky humor. the RPG elements can literally turn your character into a god who mows down everything and anything in his or her path. A big difference when comparing to the original borderlands is that this game has an engaging story that you will want to see the end. There is also a nice variety of playable characters to choose from like the Gunzerker and the Psycho each with skills that make them superhuman beasts. I also really loved the open world and the crazy variety in locations to visit and discover. The DLCs included in this package is like the delicious cherry on top with TONS of additional content to keep you busy for a long while.
The Ultimate Game
I have decided to write a review for this game. The Borderlands franchise definitely ranks high in my favorite games list. I don't actually have a list, but if I did, Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition would definitely be toward the top. Why? Well, first, let me tell you why I love Borderlands in general. (You can skip to the last two paragraphs if you don't want to read all of this. It's pretty long. However, I do encourage you to read it all.)
Borderlands was revolutionary. Genius. Combining first-person shooter combat with a RPG-style leveling up system and skill trees was utterly genius. It makes for a game so unique and wild, it's hard to find something you don't like. The graphics themselves look like a comic book in 3-D! The 4 characters you can play as in each games are very diverse and creative, too. Whether it's 1, 2, or The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands will always be a fantastic game. Fantastic, I say!
Now, about Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition...the reason why I got it may seem odd. I was late. Very late. By the time I had purchased the first Borderlands, Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition was already out in stores. I finally caught on and bought and played the original Borderlands and Borderlands 2 games all the way through. Both times as the Siren, because they're both awesome! Anyway, after I beat both games, I stumbled onto the Game of the Year Editions. I instantly bought both. (In case you're wondering, I plan to either sell or give away the originals.) The reason why I bought it is the reason why anyone who loves Borderlands and has already beaten the originals, for both 1 and 2, should. It gives you a higher level cap, 4 DLCs for a lower price, and, for Borderlands 2 in particular, 2 new characters.
Now, there is a reason why I say this game is a casual gamer's paradise. For one, playing solo is fun! I should know, I beat both games on my own. It is intense! However, there is a downside to playing on your own. It takes a long time! And, as you may well know, the Borderlands games take long enough to beat thanks to their long, epic, fantastic storyline. I am a casual gamer. I like to take things slow and make sure I'm prepared, if not, over prepared for the next battle. But, if you plan on playing Borderlands 2 on your own, I do have to warn you...there is another downside. I won't spoil anything, but there are bosses in the Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition that CANNOT be beaten alone. The game literally tells you that it will take a group of four people to beat them. I waved the notion aside and dove in head-first. I darn near threw my controller I was so angry. The game is right. It may take four people. It may take three, maybe even two. But you absolutely cannot do it alone. I didn't bother trying again. It is an irrefutable truth.
So far, I've beaten the first Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition DLC, Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty. I haven't even touched the other ones, because I'm still working on the original Borderlands Game of the Year Edition DLCs! Now, casual gamer or not, this is another reason why you should buy this game. It will last forever! Just going through the actual story takes a while! Add in 4 DLCs and two new characters, and that's a LONG time! And, if you haven't already done it, I needn't remind you there is a playthrough 2 So, once you're done, you can do it all over again! And, as you may know, the playthrough 2 is even harder! I wouldn't know...I haven't done it yet. But, I plan to.
So...what did you get out of this review? Let's recap: Why should you buy Borderlands at all? It is a creative first-person shooter crossed with an RPG-style leveling system that makes for a unique play style and an even more unique game overall. It also has great graphics. Why should someone buy the Game of the Year Edition? Well for one, it's a lot cheaper than buying every DLC separately, along with the two new characters for 2. Though there are more DLCs than the four the Game of the Year Edition gives you, these four, along with the actual story and a second playthrough, will keep you busy till the cows come home, leave, then come back again. I recommend this for casual and hardcore gamers alike. Casuals, whether you play it solo or with friends, will enjoy this because of how long it takes and how fun it is. Hardcores will love it because, if you have some people to back you up, you can just blast through and kill everything like real men should. And, as a bonus, some of the bosses in 2 are just downright despicable, and are designed to give solo players nightmares. A worthy challenge for some hardcore gamer friends I know.
In short, I can safely call this the Ultimate Game, simply because it's basically four games in one coupled with a great story, creative characters, and a world with so many weapons it'll make your head spin! Was I a little too generous with my rating? I don't think so. I think this game has earned it's rating, even if I am a little nice when it comes to this stuff. However, I do not pull my punches when it comes to a game that is downright awful. This game is quite literally the opposite of that. This game is hands-down one of the best games I've ever played! And I can say with utmost certainty that you'll like it, too, whoever you are...
Oh, and by the way, the Sirens are awesome! Best class ever! Sorry. I had to. Thank you for reading my review...if you actually read the whole thing! Hope it helps!
Even Better Than Borderlands 1
This game kinda plays like a very expensive Borderlands Expansion. There is no difference in gameplay and very little improvements if any to be seen. I thought the first one was pretty good, Albeit a little redundant with the whole formulaic way it plays. So I hoped they would make it's sequel a little more innovative. Sadly they didn't, they made it exactly the same. The game isn't bad it's just boring and one would expect them to change or mix up the gameplay to some degree. I also wasn't too keen on the new characters. I really just felt this game could've been much better than it was, and by better I mean not the same boring shoot, loot and zoot pattern. If your're looking for a game that's exactly the same as Borderlands 1, then by all means get this game it's right up your alley. If your're like me and was hoping for a sequel that was actually different than the first borderlands Look elsewhere cause you will be disapointed. It even runs on the same exact engine as the first one, no graphic improvement what so ever. That seemed like a lazy developer type thing to do. Especially considering BL2 released 3 whole yrs after BL1. one would think they would give it a graphic overhaul. All in all a pretty good game. The GOTY bundle is deff worth it as it gives you the best deal and the DLC was more or less good.
I have been waiting for this game since the start!
I always have been waiting for this game since 2 came out and now here it comes only one week left for this great game edition!
