Looking Forward to This
Aliens: Isolation is a game that has me excited. I really enjoy the idea that is brought forth in this game. This Aliens installment will be a survival horror game that takes place on a an abandoned space ship. The ships only inhabitants are you and the alien that is stalking you throughout the game. The only object that can help you survive is a sensor that indicates where the alien is and how close it may be. Other than that you have to use your wits and find any way to survive and evade the jaws of the creature chasing you throughout the ship. I am exited to play this game and see how it turns out. I will for sure give it a try and am hoping for the best. If you agreed with my preview or enjoyed it hit that thumbs up button if you disagreed then hit the thumbs down. I Did Not Expect This At All.....
FIRST OFF, you need to know that I have not played a game yet that has scared me or made me scream like a little girl. I have an iron stomach and usually horror games just don't raise the hair on my head like some others do. I'm not a story driven guy. I like games that are more about gameplay then story. Just give me good gameplay. There are two games that have come close and that was Amnesia and Outlast. More Amnesia. I was big time skeptical to purchase this game mainly because I'm not really into the Alien movies. I didn't know whether to choose Alien or Evil Within. Saying all of this, this is the first game I have played that made me yell loud enough to wake up my wife and kids. I'm sitting downstairs with my Turltebeach headphones on, lights out. I just experienced my first real encounter with the Alien. I have no idea whether to grab my nards and venture out into the corridors after hiding for 5 minutes or not. I'm creeping up the corridor trying to make it to the phone to save my game. I have figured out really quick that any noise at all alerts the Alien. I sneak into the room with the save point, the door slides open and I can see the phone. I'm almost there. Big problem. The door opening made to much noise. As I'm turning to save my game I heard thundering footsteps pounding in my direction. I couldn't turn fast enough only to see the Alien running at full sprint at me and I yell like a little girl and I'm dead. FIRST TIME in a game I have had this reaction and debated whether I wanted to go for another round or just give it a rest for tonight. This is not a horror game at all. It's a survival game at it's purest. I found myself hiding in a locker for close to 10 minutes and I didn't even realize it. YOU WILL need to have patience to play this game. IF you don't have patience it will drive you mad and you wil end up getting on here giving it a bad review and not doing it any justice. Those that like Outlast or Amnesia will love this game. Highly recommend it. Recommend, wearing headphones, turn out the lights and wear diapers.
I'm not too far into it but I like it so far. The environments are terrifying, the music is terrifying, the alien is terrifying, you get where I'm going with this. The gameplay is satisfying enough for being mostly stealth based. There's a constant sense of dread when the alien is near and the music doesn't help. My only major gripe so far is that the cut-scenes are terrible. The graphics seem like they were from a couple years ago and they're choppy on my PS3. Not entirely a bad thing because it seems like they spent more time on the actual gameplay graphics.
Worth the money
Gameplay - The gameplay is in depth. The campaign is lengthy and paced well. It is obvious the developers put thought into making this game. Collecting items is key to survival. Ammo is scarce. The motion tracker is very beneficial but can be inaccurate at times. This really plays into the fear. It requires much hiding and sneaking. The AI is very responsive and threatening as well. Overall the gameplay is solid. 10/10
Presentation - I was concerned that graphics on the PS3 would be lacking. However, I found that I underestimated the power of the console. I am not saying they are bug free but they look darn good. Animations seem a bit awkward at times, but that can be overlooked. The Alien itself is beautifully articulated. It reacts and moves in a terrifying way. I was pleased with what I saw while playing. 9/10
Sound – If you have ever watched the original Alien film, you will be very satisfied with the sound that is in the game. The developers did an excellent job on capturing the nostalgic feeling. The sound really is impressive. From the music to the station creaking and cracking as you sneak your way through. 10/10
Lasting Appeal – Personally I am a fan of the Alien franchise. With that being said this game gives you all the feelings you got when watching the original film. It captured the look and feel of Alien. I found myself playing through and appreciating the work that was put into this. There is a survival mode that is very challenging and creates some replay value. I was apprehensive at first before buying, but afterwards I was more than satisfied with the purchase. 9/10
Game Over man!!!
If you like survival horror, then you need to grab yourself a copy of this game. Alien Isolation is one of the best games to 2014. If the Alien doesn't kill you, the suspense will. Excellent game. Put it in your library.
Good Game but too long
I liked the game but I have some serious issues with the length of the game. Not so much that it was too long but the story was. Each time you think you've gotten to the end...nope. Over and over again the Aliens manage to survive out of nowhere including in open space (no air and no explosive decompression). This is of course like the movie but the movie didn't do this to you a half dozen times that it becomes predictable.
Again, the game was fun but at some point the alien jumping out stops being scary and the androids become annoying. A few added cut scenes with some good graphics could really make the game a bit more scary in the later sections.
Overall if you liked the movie, you'll like the game.
Definitely going to make you paranoid
After finishing the game, I know there are going to be a lot of people complaining about the graphics and the lagging. I'll admit, the game's not perfect... but that doesn't mean it isn't a good game. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, even when I was stuck on a level for over half an hour. The game designers did a very good job of sticking to the original movie for the look and feel of the game. Also, for all the people who keep complaining that it's too hard... that's the point of the game. It's supposed to have you sitting in a locker for five minutes praying the alien doesn't find you. Personally , I played the whole game through on difficult, and, if you're patient and wise, you'll do just fine.
Really fun if you like stealth games
If you like running for your life and hiding then this is the game for you. Whether it is a psychopathic alien, crazy humans, or sadistic androids you're constantly trying to survive. You will die probably a lot. The graphics are good, the sound is great, the gameplay is pretty simple and easy but it gets pretty boring after a few hours of the same survival tactics. It is good but not great I would recommend buying it as a rare stealth horror game to add to your collection.
Could this redeem Colonial Marines?
I played Colonial Marines thinking "why does this exist",than I seen another Aliens game coming in 2014.I had my doubts about this game, but the gameplay shown was looking great.Colonial Marines made me give up on the Aliens franchise, but I have faith in Isolation.Scarce resources,an Alien that can't die but only can be distracted, and an unpredictable Alien A.I. that could sneek up on you. This sounds amazing, going to pre-order this game.
Look's Like Fun
I think this game looks like so much fun. It has a scary look and feel to it. I was watching the IGN videos and found that the game looks great in so many ways. I hope this was a helpful preview.
