Real Arcade Pro 3 VLX
Best (mass produced) arcade joystick!
I'm an avid joystick collector & enthusiast. With that in mind, I can honestly say this is hands down thee best mass produced stick I've ever used (& I've used and/or owned quite a bit of of them since I'm an OG, LOL)! Quick specs:
- Sanwa parts (JLF joystick & OBSF-30 main 8-buttons & one OBSF-24 Start button)
- Metal joystick case (& plastic white side pieces) that's VERY similar (but a few inchses shorter) to the real deal Taito Vewlix arcade cabinet
- Black painted wooden option board for more stability (can be screwed onto bottom plate but not required)
- Storage for 3M (9.8-ft) USB cable
Prior to the purchase, I was a bit reluctant b/c worrying about the possibility of a cheap hollow feeling & sound everytime I depress a button (this bugged me w/the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 aka HRAP3) however, the hollow feeling & sound on a VLX is a bit different than in a HRAP3-SA. I dunno, perhaps it has a thicker metal/steep panel compared to a HRAP3?!? Everything about it oozes quality from the (mostly) metal consruction to the convenience of opening it up (only 3 screws FTW!). I sometimes open it just to appreciate & admire the ease & simplicity of it all (to open/close) yet at the same time oogle in it's intricacy w/everything else! If factoring in traveling around w/a stick (to tournaments, etc.) then I'd choose a V3-SA due to it's size & side handles. Only real complaints (if I had to nitpick) are the Sanwa button plugs has a somewhat rough texture (compared to my older Sanwa button plugs) & the cloth they supply's kinda small but no big deal really. Nothing else more to say than what's already been said in other reviews. This is one of the few cases of you get what you pay for!
Pricey, but well worth the money.
Ultimate production fightstick, hands down. Great feel/response, and the controller is large enough to rest your hands on, unlike the madcatz tourney edition controllers.
