FIrst off I'm a huge fan of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series, infact Guitar Hero II is one of my favorite games of all time. The games were great becuase you can stand there and pull of the most ridiculous solos with five buttons, obviously this is not like a real guitar at all which made the game totally unrealistic and amazing. But now there pushing realism in the game trying to simulate a real guitar, which they do a good job doing don't get me wrong. But why buy a fake guitar that plays just like a real guitar? The appeal just isn't there for me. Dont' get me wrong I'm not saying that people who play rock band are wasting their time and should gte real instruments, becuase it's a great game. What I am saying is that if your playing with this new controller trying to simulate the actual experience you should probably should get a cheap fake strat model for $100.

i always knew the makers of rock band would come out with another kind of insturment (keyboard) or a new verison of the original, but this is just so relistic. the crazy thing i just got beatels rock band, 1, 2 and the acdc add on pack all for the ps3... i got it all as a gift that i didn't even know was coming, and it was sure a pleasent surprise. so after i started playing i was talking to my friend and we we're actually talking about how cool it would be if they actually added strings to play on the guitar, and what do you know they did. i cant wait to get this guitar and rock band 3 keyboard bundle. i also like dj hero and cant wait for the second. guitar hero is just to old they were pushing after legends of rock. it is just the same thing over and over.

If you believe that you are going to be getting a real instrument by purchasing this Fender Mustang, you didn't take the time to actually read the product info. Although it is not a real, fully stinged guitar, it still performs like the real deal and can make real music if it is attached to a Midi adapter and your PC has the proper software. This guitar is a great step between a fake five button guitar and a real six string guitar, and playing it with Rock Band 3 can teach you the basic fundamentals of playing a real guitar for when or if you ever want to learn to actually play one. Oh, and you also don't have to worry about getting bloody/callused fingertips until you are sure you are ready to play a real guitar.
Rated 9 out of 10 by SevanElevan A whole new way to play Rock Band, and it works!
First off, I'm no expert guitarist. I can no way pull off solos or crazy stuff like that. So this review is coming from someone who is pretty much starting at beginner.
Ok, so let me start with saying that this guitar is amazing. It's everything I was expecting and then some. The guitar comes in three parts - the head, the neck, and the body (which is all a piece of cake to put together.) It also comes with two real picks and a strap. Basically everything to get you started. The overall build of the controller feels very sturdy and durable. The only part you might wanna be gentle with are the strings. I have to say, Mad Catz really nailed with this one!
Even though I haven't yet bought Rock Band 3, I have played the guitar with the Rock Band 3 Demo that can be downloaded off of PSN. So anyway, if you are like me I'd suggest starting on Easy mode, and from what I heard there's a in-depth tutorial on how to play in the actual game, so you might wanna do that before you even start playing the actual game because it's very intimidating at first. For me personally, I get the general idea of playing the notes as I see them, so I'm able to play on Easy for the most part.
I can't say how much I am enjoying this product. Yeah, the price is a bit steep, but you are buying something that not only changes the way you play Rock Band, it teaches you the fundamentals on how to master actual guitar (something I'm real eager to do!) So if you are looking for a challenge, do yourself a favor and get this now.
Rated 1 out of 10 by ferrari where's the real instrument?!
the guitar is marketed as a real guitar with strings. no. the guitar has strings that u strum but buttons for strings. the strings their using are not even real their plastic. the guitar is plastic. the buttons are so small that people with non child sixe fingers will find it hard to play because they even get smaller as they go down. for the exspensive price that you are paying i would like to have somthing alot better then this.
Rated 0 out of 10 by segastar4243 OVER 100 BUTTONS HAVE THEY GONE CRAZY!
rockband has made a great idea for a new keyboard controller, and i know they want to add a new musical feel to the gameplay... BUT ALL THOSE BUTTONS ON THE GUITAR! This may be a new generation but i dont think guitar players can even master this new additon. Well at least their are some knew challenges to the gameplay, even with about 120 new buttons.

The only drawback i see is the price but to be honest. This seems like the greatest way to bridge real guitar with a game. I started with video game guitars and am now learning real guitar. They were to deifferent and very few similarities. At least now people will have a chance to learn on a real guitar. If it works as well as its supposed to.

i ordered the pro guitar 2 days ago and it finally came
the pro guitar is such a fun add on for rock band 3 and a must have for
anyone who wants to make the game experiance more (realistic)
adds alot more difficulty to the game so if u think your gonna just pick it up and be a god your not
but all in all a great innovative controller

I'm a huge fan of the RB series, and am extremely excited for this game. but when i heard Harmonix was doing a real guitar it made me ponder as to how realistic it was going to be, im still a bit skeptical as to how it will be in relation to real guitar as i do play regular guitar. all in all im excited
