PS3 Aviator Stick
Not that great
Bottom line is that its a cheaply made joystick. If you like using it after time you'll find that it simply isn't durable. The button layout is not good. I can't count the number of times i tried to use the flares button in HAWX only to hit the home or the pause button or sometimes both. If you do that during online play it really hurts your score. There are some button that don't work if the throttle isn't centered. I only played to level 31 on hawx and the joystick already feels old. I have had other joysticks from saitek and this is the worst they have made. This joystick was not made with hawx in mind nor was it made for the ps3 in mind. I would not recommend this joystick to anyone when is a better alternative. I would have paid 4 times the price for something that was durable and ergonomic. This joystick is neither.
Good Entry Level Flight Stick
We bought this in order to play HAWX. After playing with the stick and with a standard controller there is absolutley no question in my mind that the stick rocks. Much more realistic and really fun. We've only had it for a weekend but so far it has performed flawlessly for both HAWX and Balzing Angels. I do wish it were wireless or at the very least that the cord was a bit longer. Fortunately, I have a USB extension cord, but without it you'd be too close to the screen. I'm a little concerned about durability as it primarily made of plastic, but no problems so far. The stick was very easy to set up. Plug and play for the most part. We play it on Mode 1. Haven't tried Mode 2. Note that if you have the accelerator all the way up or down it prevents you from selecting items while in the menu mode. Not a big deal, but in case you're wondering why you can't select something on a menu check to see that the accelerator is somewhere in the middle. All in all, for the money it is a good value. Bottom line is that this makes flying great and I absolutely wouldn't play HAWX without it.
could have done alot better
I just purchased this at my local game stop today and will be returning it tomorrow. I only used it a little but found some things that i really do not like. First of all if they were not going to make it cordless they could have given it a much longer usb cord. You have to be right next to the tv. Second the combination of the extremely light base and how stiff the stick is to use, you have to play on a solid table or the whole thing wants to tip over. Third the overall comfort of it compared to my pc stick, which is not an expensive stick, is a huge factor in my impression of this stick. The hand rest is not comfortable in any way, which i believe is due to the ambidextrous design of it. And last but not least, the buttons. The overall layout is ok but not all buttons are on it ie.. L1, R1 which could be a problem with future games. So in all I was very excited to purchase this item but was very disappointed when i tried it. Note for future aviation stick makers..... put all buttons on the stick, cordless would be awesome, and most of all FULLY PROGRAMABLE BUTTONS like on pc.
